The Lego appreciation thread

I couldn't figure out how to embed the pics from my phone, but every time I go through those, I catch new details. I already told Mr. Z if it comes out just like this, we're getting it, damn the pricetag! I think if it has the paintball details he'd get it regardless.

It has a very commodore 64 look to it.

Oh, bother...

LEGO 10283 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery with Hubble Revealed

2021 marks the 40th anniversary of the first NASA Space Shuttle flight in 1981, and LEGO is marking the occasion by launching its biggest shuttle set yet. 10283 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery rings in at 2,354 pieces and features the iconic orbiter on its most famous mission, STS-31. This 1990 mission launched the renowned Hubble Telescope, which is still in operation. To be fair, MOST lego is expensive, I get why with their machining tolerances for the bricks, quality in general and then the licensing for the properties but I just can't justify more than looking.

(Lego Shop at Home)

The reviews are generally quite positive:

a Titanic that’s four and a half feet long is an experience. The details are wonderful, and the way the set is designed to allow tandem building with up to two others is something more large sets should incorporate. The build is interesting and engaging at every point, with the tedious porthole portions nicely broken up and spread out throughout the build. The geometry for the hull shaping is magnificent, and the deck details seem closer to a fan creation than an official model, (BrothersBrick)

Also, Meowthra included for scale:

"Requires further revew" must be code for "Please, Disney, don't sue us."

If they don't design or name the Dwarves after the 7 from the movie (or do the same with Snow White's design), Disney doesn't have a leg to stand on. That's literally the only original elements they own of that story.

Oh, I know the story is much older than Disney.
But I also know there's no guarantee they won't try.
Especially with the expiration date on their copyright of the movie hurtling towards them in just 143½ months.

And that's just the problem. They designed the set after the Disney movie. I had my suspicion seeing one dwarf whithout a beard but looking at the other pictures makes it all to clear. They even use the Disney font.
