[Other] The not so funny pic thread (some NSFL or gore)

I'd like to see that size chart for the Big Mac. The fries and sodas may have gotten enormous, but I think the burgers (AKA the expensive part to source) have shrunk.

A lot of this is because chocolate was artificially cheap because it was farmed using exploitative labor practices. That, and I suspect that China's development has increased it's consumption, and thus there's more demand for a limited supply.
I know I am monstrously late with this, as I do not usually follow this thread. But if you wish to discuss whether the changes in cocoa bean price are due to exploitative labor practices, as opposed to regular market forces, please let me know and I'd be happy to exchange views.

Nothing I can google up about hoarding that's less than three years old. Anything your google-fu can come up with?
Nope, not on my initial search. Nothing since 2015. But I also didn’t see anything to definitively explain the recent plummet, either. Lots of theories, though.

I think there are too many variables, but last year's drop in prices caused some producers to look into other crops, and this year there's a bump in demand, but a drop in supply (by 4%), so the price has gone up.

In short, it's a volatile commodity.

While there are many who benefit from telling a specific story and explaining it their way, I don't think it's something that's easily blamed on any one aspect.

Thank you for the information. An approach where the issue is laid bare in the beginning will certainly serve to permit all present to draw up their conclusions as to what may be the appropriate position to reach.

An alternative approach is one where you promote discussion by withholding full disclosure, thereby encouraging your detractors to consider alternative points of view through providing them with more limited information in the beginning, and gradually acquaint them with the bigger picture. It may serve to leave these boards richer for the exchange, and everyone participating and listening in more enlightened in the end.

In more plain words, in the end I personally feel that to be one of the best things in life.

Oh, what the fuck?

Yes that is a guy taking a selfie & making sure to catch in the background the paramedics giving medical treatment to a woman who has just been hit by a fucking train!

I've had 1 job that was true, and 1 job in which the skills were inapplicable to anywhere but there, which is close enough. I'm not at those places anymore, I'm OK saying that openly.

I'm in a job where neither is true, and given the nature of it, unlikely to happen while I'm here. I'm much happier.

The british supermarket chains are getting ready for their Christmas TV ad campaigns. Well all except Iceland - theirs has been banned for being too political. It's well worth a watch.
