I don't know if they still do, but they used to use live armadillos in research labs to grow Mycobacterium leprae because they haven't figured out how to grow it on artificial media.
They probably do. It doesn't grow very well except on humans and armadillos, and the occasional heavily-gengineered mouse.

Our new program director looks like a genetic hybrid of Craig T. Nelson (Coach, from Coach) and William Zabka (Johnny from Karate Kid) aged to about 55-60. It's uncanny. He's got the "old dad hair" thing going where it won't quite lay down but it's not short enough to where you think it should stand up, and it's thinning and receding, his top teeth stick out as far as his bottom lip when his mouth hangs open, like Johnny's.
He's having to learn our automation, so there's a lot of confused technograsping going on.

Thanks to @Bones 's suggestion, I downloaded Collectorz on Sunday and have been working on cataloging all my comics every day since. I finally finished listing all 1716 this evening. That took way longer than I thought it would, but I feel so accomplished! 
And now I'm in the mood to go back and read of bunch of them, which will probably be my next project.

My parents got me a late Christmas present of a Kindle. I really like it, and since I've had a student subscription to Amazon Prime for a while, I thought I'd check out their lending library to see what books I can access for "free"... I'm a little puzzled at what I found. I originally went in because I'd heard that the Harry Potter books were part of the catalog, and I never finished reading them. While they are in there, I noticed that there is also a Comics & Graphic Novels section, which apparently is like 10% porn and other very strange offerings.
Here are pages 2 and 3 of the results, and it gets worse from there:
Apparently there's a whole series of the "barely legal hentai" books, and there's a lot of other adult offerings in there as well. Along with a lot of Minecraft comics, for some reason.
