I was just going to say mention the Spanish system specifically, but then remembered that D'Hondt's method is hardly perfect, and I thought i recalled some other countries in the area doing it better, but couldn't be arsed to check it out, hence the [Euro].

I guess a better way of phrasing it would be "any parliamentary system where a minority government can exist, 3+ parties/independents can compete for seats, and new/small parties are not overtly hamstrung (looking at you Turkey)."

I'd rather have a small nazi party in congress than a major party potentially getting hijacked (a la Tea Party). The more options you give voters, the more honest both voters and parties can be. E.g. Alternativa Española voters won't be voting Partido Popular, since it's not throwing away your vote (like in a 2-party system), so Partido Popular is less likely to pander to those voters.

Thing is, Mr. Madison and company intentionally steered away from a parliamentary form of government. That's what the whole proportional/equal representation argument was about over the summer of 1787.

This is kinda what the two-house legislature is supposed to do... originally, the senators were appointed by the state governments, not elected. The compromise between popular democracy and strong leadership was the lower house (Representatives) were elected and their numbers were divvied according to population, but to keep the more populous states from running roughshod over the less populated ones, the Senators were appointed and were 2 per state regardless of population. Thus, if you could get both the populists AND the authoritarians to agree something should be done, it should probably be done. Otherwise the government was designed to gridlock itself.

I just saw the Hotel Transylvania 2 trailer in spanish. They used the voice of Dr.Doofenshmirtz for Dracula. He sounds whiny.

We had some Japanese college students in our class to observe what is taught in social work in the US. One of the female students sat next to me. She introduced herself, then asked my name.
"My name is Lisa."

"Oh..uh..Riza, yes?"

I wanted to hug her. In my head I was screaming, "Yes, I am Riza Hawkeye!!"

We have the option of removing channels from our Guide search, which Mr. Z did a while back when we downsized our cable package and wanted to save time from seeing channels we don't have anymore or never watch. A few weeks ago I noticed some porn channel listings pop up near Li'l Z's kid channels, so Mr. Z removed them. I saw this today (the highlighted, and the show following it) and thought he missed one:

It took both of us to figure out these were legit shows. Unfortunately named, but legit.

Anyways, today I read a thing asking why men don't smash other men's testicles in fights. The responses were all stuff like: Guys fight honorably, men don't like to be hit in the balls, no guy wants it done to him, etc, etc. All those responses read to me, someone who has been nutted NUMEROUS bloody times in scuffles, as: I've never been in a real fight, I've never been in a real fight and I've never been in a fight.
