So I am headed out to my car for my lunch today, a thing I do pretty much every day that I work. Yesterday was our first snow, so there is still a light dusting here and there, and the air is crisp. As I exit the building and head to my car, about two rows ahead of me, a stocky Asian man is briskly trotting across the parking lot. He is wearing a full French maid outfit complete with fishnet stockings and heels, and he is carrying a plastic cup full of bubble tea, I assume back to his car. I think to myself: “There’s something you don’t see every day.”

@bhamv3 ?

Went to to a night dive the other night with my bro and some of his friends, did NOT realize how much I missed cutting loose.

So everyone knows, they checked for vax cards which we all had.

What is with three letter media titles lately? "You", "See", "Dog"... Do their makers not want their shows to be easily searched for on the internet? I get that short titles are not new (It, Dune, CSI, etc.) but it's the internet age. Why aren't people thinking about search results when they're naming their IP? Did some billionaires make a bet about who could get the best search results for short, common words?

I've had the same annoyance.
My backyard neighbour is showing some of her artwork in a group exposition in the center of town.
Now, the title of the exposition isn't annoyingly short. Nooooo.
The title of their expo is: "Exposition, noun. Definition: a large public exhibition of art or trade goods." (well, Dutch translation of it, but same idea).
It is utterly impossible to find anything about it.

But yes, short is sexy. Short is decisive, and clear, and up front. A new TV show here is called "ground". Another one is "stars". And yet another one is "home". Have I mentioned there's also "house"? (all translations, but still).

We'll see a swing to utterly non-descriptive next ,then back to too long and trying-to-be-funny.

It amuses me how it's the polar opposite for how anime series have been naming themselves more and more lately.

"This show is called 'You.'"
"This anime is called 'I've been killing slimes for 300 years and maxed out my level!'"
"This show is called "Dog.'"
"This anime is called 'My Next Life as a Villainess: All routes lead to Doom!'"
"See."
"DO YOU LOVE YOUR MOM AND HER TWO-HIT MULTITARGET ATTACKS?!"

We have a critter that keeps coming out of the woods behind my house, and it's annoying me because it's colored like a coyote, and coyotes are common in this area, but the size of it and shape of its face makes me think wolf. It's odd. Here it is, compared to George, who is a hundred pounds and needs everyone to know that whatever it is it isn't welcome. I think at this point the only reason I even care is the online "experts" who all immediately called coyote, because it can't be anything else. At this point, I think lost dog is as likely as anything (it didn't worry about George or even me that much, but also didn't seem friendly or anything).

Finished Day 1 of Integrated National Board Dental Examination (INBDE). About 6 hours worth of exam. Still have day 2 to go on Friday. Tried to study more when I got home but brain fried, so decided on video games and beer. More study can happen tomorrow. Also your community fluoridated water is optimal at 0.7ppm.

I live in a city that basically votes to fluoridate and and de-fluoridate its water every year. Maybe not that often, but Calgary has had referendums on this issue over and over and it feels like it's always 51% in favour of it one year and 51% against it the next year. Meanwhile, 3 hours north in Edmonton, the water has been fluoridated forever and... wait a minute. Edmonton has the only NDP MP in all of Alberta.

MY GOD

IT REALLY IS A COMMUNIST PLOT

Japanese porn titles are the wackiest, I find. For example, one that I just Google translated:
Delusion Item Ultimate Evolution Series Feminized Skin Dark Side 3 ~ Evil Fallen with Cursed Skin ~ Super Evil Woman with Mask

(For those curious... RCTS-019)

You is based on a book of the same name, though.
Schindler's Ark -> Schindler's List
All You Need is Kill -> Edge of Tomorrow
Northern Lights -> The Golden Compass
Nothing Lasts Forever -> Die Hard
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep -> Blade Runner
We Can Remember It For You Wholesale -> Total Recall
Shoeless Joe -> Field of Dreams
The Short-Timers -> Full Metal Jacket

I could go on. Sometimes changing the name is for the best.

I feel they really missed an opportunity there to name it the Integrated National Board Examination for Dentistry, INBED.

They could but they have reasons why they might not that outweigh it being a short name that is hard-ish to search for.
