Yep, it's official. Her departure is being spun, spun, spun by the director that plainly was the cause of her leaving. Gonna be interesting times for a while here.

I just had a customer blaming the Canada Post strike for not paying their bills.

They haven't made a payment since AUGUST. (The strike started November 15th)

Is this sort of like one of those situations where a reporter becomes a serial killer so they have something to report on?

I may never have nice teeth. My gag reflex is so bad they don't want to help me unless I find a way around it. Mostly because the way dentures work is that there would always be a piece of something hitting that spot in the back of my throat. I could get implants but they are fucking expensive and I'd still need to find a way to get impressions done.

Not entirely true. They can now make both dentures and braces based entirely on 3D imagery from outside your mouth. I don't doubt this is prohibitively expensive in the USA for now, but the tech exists - I've seen it used. It may get cheaper soon.
Also, they can use local anesthesia to suppress the gag reflex.
I, too, have such a strong gag reflex that [strikethrough] I'll never be able to give a good blowjob [/strikethrough] ik'm a very difficult dentist patient, and it really helped. But most regular dentists don't know how - was an endodontologist who helped me.

They have that tech there, but still need to get a physical mold and won't use sedation. Plus, the temp dentures themselves have attachments that hit the roof of your mouth so I wouldn't be able to wear them. To heal I'd have to go 6 months or so with no teeth.

I have empathy for this, because I too have an awful gag reflex at the dentist, I can't even get xrays done unless one person holds it where it needs to go while another one pushes the button.

Omaha right now is getting hit with a monumental ice storm. I went earlier to get something from my car and literally slid past it on the street. I was barefoot. I had to slide/penguin walk to the grass to get back home. At one point a lady parked at the bottom of the hill and "walked" her way up the sidewalk by laying down a towel, walking the length, then sitting to pick it up and move it. No idea why she didn't walk on the grass. I think maybe she was doing this to get past driveways because that's all I saw. She said her husband gets of work at 11 and will get her car. I don't think so.

I had some leftover ice melt from last year. Not much, but it was enough to temporarily coat our back stoop so we could let the dogs out. They wouldn't go because they couldn't stand up outside.

I was on YouTube watching random clips of stuff and came across one of Rick & Morty where Rick gave Morty a lightsaber for Christmas. As I watched it, I thought "I have absolutely no recollection of this. Is this a preview clip of the upcoming new season?"

Turns out, it was Season 6, Episode 10: Ricktional Mortpoon's Rickmas Mortcation, the season finale. I checked my Plex serve and...it was missing. I had somehow missed not only one episode from two years ago, but the season finale. I honestly have no idea how I missed that. I thought A Rick in King Mortur's Mort, with the sun knights was the finale (which I thought it was a terrible episode and a terrible finale).

So...I'm "legally obtaining" it now and going to watch it this morning.

EDIT: And just to add to the confusion, I had also mislabeled the file for Episode 9, "Ricktional Mortpoon's Rickmas Mortcation." So this was all kinds of wrong on my part. I have no idea what was going on with me around this time, but it was probably deep depression.

Despite a rough morning, my day has improved. I did about little yoga, watched some cartoons, and made a beef stew in the slow cooker.

Then I biked over to Halifax to bring my bike into the shop.

Now I'm at a coffee shop doing some writing. I got about 400 words into Dill's new adventure before taking a break. I decided to revisit my memoir, skimming through it, and...it doesn't entirely suck? Maybe I should try working on it again.

I recently bought a UV flaslight and it's been interesting to see how different things look under it, like these tubes of lip balm:

The orange plastic looks almost identical under normal lighting, but one looks almost white under UV, and the other looks darker. It's also strange that the white cap looks dark under UV light, and the white label under 'shortbread cookie' looks almost brown if it's dark other than the UV light:
