[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

I am surprised at how good that looks. I honestly thought adapting Old Man Logan was a bad idea, but that actually looks like it could be a quality story.

So... we're FINALLY getting a Logan/X-23 movie? And it's about an ancient Logan and Professor X fleeing from the cops in a world where mutants are basically gone? Okay, I'm in.

Dammit, Youtube, I'm just trying to see if I want to buy a movie soundtrack. Stop showing me trailers for movies that look good; I don't want to go to the theater that many times in the next two months.

American Pastoral, Denial, Arrival, Doctor something or other, Rogue One. I'm all out of movie gift cards, ya jerks.

Looks decent. Although when computers gain AI and the ability to self-replicate, humans have NO CHANCE against them.

In the context of the movie the computer learns and is self-replicating. Tactically and intelligently, we'd stand 0 chance in that scenario. Sorry. Computers think and could act much, much faster than a human. I realize they are not taking over IRL, but in the movie we'd be right fucked.

I got three letters for ya: E.M.P! The same goes for nano-tech, which Cinema treats as magic but should be effected by EMP as much as any other computer based tech.

You really think that you - a normal human meat-brain - would think of that but a sentient robotic unit wouldn't? It would take them about 3 minutes to figure out how to EMP-proof themselves. You guys seem to underestimate the sheer thinking power of a sentient robot. Why do you think that the smartest people on the planet are more afraid of AI than they are of nuclear war or aliens?

Because they are crazy rich people who are crazy? Super intelligent AIs still follow under the laws of science, and with those laws there are flaws with-in them, and THROUGH said flaws we could defeat them.

ALSO-part of me thinks they are just saying how scary technology is as a scare tactic to buy their shit in protection for the robopocalypse that will never happen because all machines have flaws. WE ARE HUMANITY! WE SURVIVE!

We have many more flaws than they and they'd fix theirs much faster. It wouldn't take years for sentient AI to beat us, it would take them hours to figure it out.

I think we have equal flaws to them in all honesty. Also unless they are like Amazo from Justice League Unlimited, I doubt they'll be able to be without weaknesses.

We can shield electronics right now from EMP. So it's not even a "new" ability to shield from such. The Matrix did everybody a disservice by making people think that was the be-all end-all anti-AI weapon.

Hint: it isn't.

Yeah, EMP against AI is silly. Just unplug them, then wait for a few hours for their batteries to run out. Batteries as efficient as the ones in the Matrix (i believe someone did the math that showed burning the humans would have been more energy efficient) are even more fantastical then EMP being unstoppable.

Eh, a carbon fiber bullet would be lethal to robots. It could be hardened enough to punch through the lightweight plastic or thin aluminum that most robots (due to economics and ease of replacement) would be constructed from. It would then fragment into a cloud of conductive carbon fibers that would cause catastrophic short circuits and completely destroy any electronics. Hell, forget a bullet, just detonate balls of them and you effectively have the equivalent of chlorine gas but for electronics. Then once the robots are taken out, they can be easily cleaned up, and even a basic paper dust mask and goggles with prevent humans from being directly harmed by it.

Fantasizing about a WWI situation when discussing something closer to a nuke is strange. The issue with contemplating AGI is that you only have to create it once.
