[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

he's one of those rare actors who just seems to love acting so much he can do amazing movies and terribly shitty movies but never phones it in. He always gives 100%. Thats why I love him. He's just a joy to watch no matter how bad the movie.
I can't wait to see him in the Waterworld remake.

I didn't like the first one and this one looks even worse. I feel bad for both actors involved because they've been in much better stuff.
WHAT?!?!?!?

Dumb and Dumber was a masterpiece! A god damned masterpiece!

One of my favorite movies of all time.

Wrong trope. This isn't a Duffy. It wasn't just a dream, but an elaborate practical joke.
I wasn't referring specifically to the "it was all a dream" method, just that the writers did in fact decide to incorporate the passage of time into the plot, but rather than straight up lampshading it, they tried to fit it in with the characters.

New trailer for Sin City: A Dame to to Kill For

I really, really want to like this movie. But it's today's Frank Miller that's behind it. That empties almost all my hope.

*sob* But it looks soooo good.

I wish there was a way to know the Frank Miller:Robert Rodriguez ratio of influence.

The first Sin City movie surprised me with how good it was. It may very well rank as my favorite comic book movie.

This one, however, gives me a weird vibe. I can't quite put my finger on it. Is it the fact that seeing Marv and Hartigan after they're dead feels weird? I know the stories aren't chronological, so logically that shouldn't bother me. Is it seeing different actors for Manute and Dwight? That can't be helped either, seeing as MCD is dead and Dwight's pre-surgery.

I wish I could figure out what's bothering me about this trailer.

Someone elsewhere commented that it feels a little too..."hip". Like, the song used is more techno or something. Plus, they thought the green screen and special effects don't look as great as they did with the first one. I don't know about that. The first one's effects were great, but they were obvious in a way - like this - that give it a surreal look.

Personally, I think the stink of The Spirit is ruining much of my anticipation. I tried watching it once and could only stomach ten minutes before shutting it off.

You missed a hilarious movie. Unintentionally hilarious, despite what Frank Miller says.

But I know what you mean. The part in the Sin City 2 trailer where the cartoon arrow spirals just under the camera feels more like The Spirit than Sin City.

It's still directed by Robert Rodriguez and "directed" by Frank Miller like the first one. If you liked it, it'll probably be ok.

Oh, okay. I wasn't clear because now Frank Miller actually has directed a (terrible) movie, so I didn't know if Rodriguez was giving him more to do. If it's mainly Rodriguez, I'm there.

You know what? I think it looks good.

After watching that trailer, I think my biggest problem with it is the CG. Yes, it's highly detailed, but there's something about it when you see them standing next to real actors that just feels...off. Same thing with Transformers and, to he honest, sadly, the Hobbit films. It prevents me from really getting into these movies as of late.

We've come a long way with integrating CG with live action, and sometimes, in small doses, it works well and is almost unnoticeable. But I don't think we're at the point where it isn't distracting when an entire character is CG. It's still just a little too...rubbery? I guess? Say what you will about practical FX, specifically in this case comparing to the original Henson costumes: yes, they are dated, but I think the limits of the costumes made the action more believable.

For me, I still think it's not looking that good. It feels like they're taking a lot of the Japanese nature out of the Turtles, what with the Foot Clan seeming more like military soldiers rather than ninja foes, for one thing. I'm also not digging the look of the Shredder with all blades out. It seems a little...excessive.

One thing that does pique my curiosity, though? The mystery guy that William Fichtner is talking to. I'm curious because of the fact that Fichtner is playing Eric Sachs, which that name is an Americanized version of Oroku Saki, the Shredder's real name. Could it be that perhaps the mystery guy is the actual Shredder, with Eric as just his right-hand man?

You know what? I think it looks good.

Ok, this actually looks fun. I'll see it.

I like that it can poke fun at itself. "So, they're aliens?" "No, that's stupid. They're turtles."

I agree with the CGI though. It looks very impressive and detailed, and I even kinda dig the new bulky look. But I miss the days of suits and animatronic heads. Those looked great, and never once took me out of the movie.
