[News] The USA Police State will never satisfy its lust for beating, gassing, and imprisoning minorities

I'm Patrick is not sufficient, no. Full name and date of birth is required to run someone's info, with a state of ID issuance being known. But acting suspicious and refusing to cooperate sort of forces our hand.

All we ask is cooperation. Keeping things calm means no-one feels like they're being threatened, and makes it MUCH simpler to sort out the fucknuggets, like the idiot who shot the therapist.

I would argue that being a cop is a difficult job, and while I wouldn't fault a cop for using lethal force when its actually needed, I'd say that maintaining composure at all times is part of the job description. I know I couldn't do that, but thats why I'm not a cop.

Easy for you to say when you don't know 100% for certain that the guy lying on the ground doesn't have a gun that he intends to use to commit suicide by cop... champ.

I can't speak for Charlie but looking at the picture:

I am 100% certain that the guy lying on the ground doesn't have a gun that he intends to use to commit suicide by cop.

I am 100% certain that the police should have listened to the man laying on his back and moved to investigate instead of staying behind cover.

I am 100% certain that the police should have tried to deescalate the situation.

I am 100% certain that the police should not have handcuffed the victim once he was shot.

I am 100% certain that the police should have immediately rendered first aid.

By that logic you could never arrest anyone; compliant, non-compliant, surrendering, you'd have to shoot them. There's really nothing more this guy could have done to be demonstrate he was non-threatening.

Except change his skin color, I guess, but not everyone has Michael Jackson's money.

And then, hidden gun is not what the officer said. He said he didn't know why he shot the therapist.

I believe his point was that even a seemingly harmless situation can escalate into a hostile or lethal one with little warning. This doesn't justify their actions, but I do understand their mentality when investigating calls.

If that's the case, yeah, you want to be prepared, in which case the post is another instant of someone here sniping at Charlie and even going afar of their own viewpoint.

Which I've been guilty of in the past too.

Huh. Another Halforumite not recognizing an inane joke post. It's been happening noticeably often recently, and never by the same person.

Crazy.

That is a ridiculously quick escalation of force.

Shit, if you're that scared of a black woman, maybe don't bother stopping her for going 15 over.

Well she might have invoked her black juju and turned into a giant rage monster. She's lucky the cops didn't shoot her.

 I'M GONNA PLAY A VIDEO GAME BYE
I want to hug this post, but I can't figure out a way to do so that doesn't sound like sarcasm.
I also believe that Charlie is often unfairly singled out, either because people don't like his attitude or because his goat is so easily gotten.

I agree that so many people around here are on hair triggers lately, and while I do often hear why, I don't get why the percentage has to be so high right now.

Everyone here should probably go and play a video game for a while. Or read. Or hike. Or something.
blacks have "violent tendencies."
Well, I know what he's getting at, but he's probably talking about a stereotype created in the late 1800's when it was commonplace to hand out cocaine to dock workers and plantation "employees" in order to increase productivity. Turns out most of these people were Black, and it also turns out that people who have a lot of cocaine also are more likely to have violent tendencies.

Plus it's a rather easy to justify shooting and beating an entire ethnic group if you claim they're all inherently violent and that the level of force is appropriate for their dangerous nature.

I've been feeling great, if anyone cares. :p

If you mean PatrThom, I knew he was joking and was expressing exasperation at my own phrasing. If you mean jwouk, then no, I see no indication he was joking.

Hey, @Ravenpoe:

And @Zero Esc, I also thought your comment was all I'M OUT rather than just a reference to your phrasing.

Well, I was out, but not because I was taking your post seriously, just "yup, I said that that wat, dammit."

I no longer have any idea what Gruebeard is referencing and will assume his next post will be "and it was all a dream" with a follow-up post of "or WAS IT?"

I'm saving that for November 9.
