Easy for you to say when you don't know 100% for certain that the guy lying on the ground doesn't have a gun that he intends to use to commit suicide by cop... champ.keeping things calm is your job, champ

By that logic you could never arrest anyone; compliant, non-compliant, surrendering, you'd have to shoot them. There's really nothing more this guy could have done to be demonstrate he was non-threatening.Easy for you to say when you don't know 100% for certain that the guy lying on the ground doesn't have a gun that he intends to use to commit suicide by cop... champ.
I believe his point was that even a seemingly harmless situation can escalate into a hostile or lethal one with little warning. This doesn't justify their actions, but I do understand their mentality when investigating calls.By that logic you could never arrest anyone; compliant, non-compliant, surrendering, you'd have to shoot them. Except change his skin color, I guess, but not everyone has Michael Jackson's money.
And then, hidden gun is not what the officer said. He said he didn't know why he shot the therapist.
If that's the case, yeah, you want to be prepared, in which case the post is another instant of someone here sniping at Charlie and even going afar of their own viewpoint.I believe his point was that even a seemingly harmless situation can escalate into a hostile or lethal one with little warning. Well she might have invoked her black juju and turned into a giant rage monster. She's lucky the cops didn't shoot her. That is a ridiculously quick escalation of force.
Shit, if you're that scared of a black woman, maybe don't bother stopping her for going 15 over.
I want to hug this post, but I can't figure out a way to do so that doesn't sound like sarcasm.I'M GONNA PLAY A VIDEO GAME BYE
I agree that so many people around here are on hair triggers lately, and while I do often hear why, I don't get why the percentage has to be so high right now.Huh. Another Halforumite not recognizing an inane joke post. It's been happening noticeably often recently, and never by the same person.
Well, I know what he's getting at, but he's probably talking about a stereotype created in the late 1800's when it was commonplace to hand out cocaine to dock workers and plantation "employees" in order to increase productivity. Turns out most of these people were Black, and it also turns out that people who have a lot of cocaine also are more likely to have violent tendencies.blacks have "violent tendencies."
Plus it's a rather easy to justify shooting and beating an entire ethnic group if you claim they're all inherently violent and that the level of force is appropriate for their dangerous nature.I want to hug this post, but I can't figure out a way to do so that doesn't sound like sarcasm.
I also believe that Charlie is often unfairly singled out, either because people don't like his attitude or because his goat is so easily gotten.

Everyone here should probably go and play a video game for a while. Or read. Or hike. Or something.

I've been feeling great, if anyone cares.I agree that so many people around here are on hair triggers lately, and while I do often hear why, I don't get why the percentage has to be so high right now.

If you mean PatrThom, I knew he was joking and was expressing exasperation at my own phrasing. If you mean jwouk, then no, I see no indication he was joking.Huh. Another Halforumite not recognizing an inane joke post. It's been happening noticeably often recently, and never by the same person.
Crazy.
All that reading about video game hiking must be paying off.I've been feeling great, if anyone cares.
Well, guess I actually mean me.If you mean PatrThom, I knew he was joking and was expressing exasperation at my own phrasing. If you mean jwouk, then no, I see no indication he was joking.
Well, I was out, but not because I was taking your post seriously, just "yup, I said that that wat, dammit."
I'm saving that for November 9.Well, I was out, but not because I was taking your post seriously, just "yup, I said that that wat, dammit."
I no longer have any idea what Gruebeard is referencing and will assume his next post will be "and it was all a dream" with a follow-up post of "or WAS IT?"
I figured I was either going to see this or Bob Newhart.
Or a pregnant Peg Bundy.I figured I was either going to see this or Bob Newhart.

Considering that plot line was cancelled because Katey Segal miscarried, um, not quite the same thing, dude. I mean I get that they did the whole "It was just a dream" thing, but under way sadder circumstances.Or a pregnant Peg Bundy.
Oh, it was kind of a big deal when it happened. I remember the entertainment shows going on about it.I did not know that.
Who fired at police during a traffic stop, gave a high speed chase, had his car disabled, then engaged in a standoff for over an hour.Another police shooting... Oh, wait, never mind, suspect was a white male with a gun.
