"VP Pence seats Republican Electors over the objections of Democrats in states where fraud occurred"

"Declare National Security Emergency"

"Declare electronic voting in all states invalid"

Why are we calling this anything besides a coordinated attempt at a coup?

Why are we calling this anything besides a coordinated attempt at a coup?

The same reason Japan's annexation of Manchuria in 1931 went unanswered, the same reason German's building of U-boats in 1935 was accepted, and the same reason the Crimea is now Russian territory. The non-agressor party is not willing to commit to an escalation of force and thus tris to get by with harsh words and a stern look. Also the reason the EU is an economic giant and a diplomatic dwarf. Appeasement is like the geopolitical equivalent of people whose coping mechanism is to avoid conflict by knuckling under and accepting a new status quo while trying to avoid further escalation. The Democratic Party (and foreign interests) are not willing to start Civil War II, or have widespread riots, or have the US (and, by extension, worldwide) economy collapse.

If Biden came out and said: "what Trump and his cronies did was illegal, violent, anti-democratic, ethically corrupt, he's been the biggest threat to our ntional Security since at least 2001, we're dporting him to Gitmo for questioning", the Capitol would not be "under siege" by a couple of hundred tryhards. It would be up in flames. Many Southern states would see militias take up arms. It might be the truth, but the retaliation against that reaction would be...unwanted.

Depends on who made the PP and what the reason was for emailing it. The tweets here are vague about the source of it and why it was shared

It's a good assumption but you can't prove it with the evidence currently available. This guy could weasel his way out just with "I don't know who made it, I was sharing it as a warning for how people could try to manipulate trump into starting a coup". Easy plausible deniability here

Well, a discussion of an attempt of a coup. Maybe there should be consequences for that too, but it isn't remotely the same thing.

If biden came out and said he loved capitalism, he would get smeared as a communist. That's the game

I'm not convinced that there would inevitably be violence over this if it's confronted now. There's a lot of bluster from that front. However, if we don't oppose this movement strongly now, they will change voting laws to the point where they cannot be removed by electoral processes, and then it will have to come to much bloodier violence to stop this country from being a fascist nightmare.

I absolutely believe this.
I certainly didn't say I thought appeasement was a good call, either in the 1930s or now. Neither Hitler nor Putin, nor frankly any other strongman, has ever been scolded and suddenly became a nice friendly neighbor.

Honestly, though, I think you've already passed the point where this could be resolved peacefully. Some 20% or so of the population is so far gone that nothing will convince them that they are not the good guys while destroying what they claim to hold dear.

It is so difficult for me to justify nonviolence anymore. But this is a propaganda war and it needs to be fought as such. Doesn't help that the democrat agenda is to compromise to republicans while making money for democrats. The left needs to learn that libs need them a lot more than the left needs libs. It's time to make demands and bully democrats into submission, they will not fight back if you don't force them to

Kanye West publicist pressed Georgia election worker to confess to bogus fraud charges

"She said she was sent by a 'high-profile individual,' whom she didn’t identify, to give Freeman an urgent message: confess to Trump’s voter-fraud allegations, or people would come to her home in 48 hours, and she’d go to jail."

The election worker was scared by all this, and arranged to meet West's publicist at a police station for her safety. Which leads to the biggest non-surprise of the article, "Police say they did not investigate the incident further."

So I know it may seem weird to post this year-old video here, but l promise you...it is quite relevant, especially when looked at next to the little tête-a-tête we had going on over in the political thread.

It explains a lot, if you can see/relate it.

Speaking as a former 16-year radio industry dude at a Butt Rock station, that was the most heartfelt attempt to paint McDonalds as good food as I've seen in a long time.

Oh and "The Reason" was the worst Hoobastank song - it was just their most popular one. I loved Out of Control and Inside of You. The Reason was Hoobastank just trying to milk a paycheck out of neglected red state rock tear ducts, and iHeart program directors ate it up so everybody else had to follow suit.

Butt Rock is a pretty catchy term to encompass Nu Metal and Alternative Rock, though.

I don't think he was attempting to paint it as great food, I think he was trying to show WHY there are still so many thriving McDonalds despite it almost universally being agreed upon that it is in fact not great food.

He definitely had an angle, though, he was trying to pooh-pooh the "critics" and "gatekeepers" and saying other "restaurants" should try to emulate McDonalds if they want to succeed commercially.

Basically, the political equivalent of this is "Populism is a force, and all you gatekeepers with your 'ideals' and your 'integrity' should just go ahead and pander to populist sentiment so you can keep getting elected."

Well, that was kind of the point I was trying to make, sooo...yay?
...and before I get misconstrued yet again, my reason for posting the video is not "I think we should pander to populists," rather it is "Pandering to populism is what got us to where we are today, and here is a non-political example that shows exactly how this works for those who might not get it."

I'm visiting my folks in California and I can hear some people here dismissing the insurrection as mere trespassing. They also don't want anyone to criticize the insurrectionists because that would be "divisive." It's been a year and they're still solidly behind their Dear Leader. What I've noticed about these folks is they tend to be whiter than raisins in potato salad.

Fox News probably stopped saying "insurrection" because their viewers didn't know what it meant.

"Insurrection? Baby, isn't that what I take my Cialis for?"

…i fucking can’t anymore
I get why you say that, but Penzeys has been on top of this shit from the beginning. They're a local company to me and have been donating and fighting the good fight ever since Trump took office.
