Video Game News and Miscellany

I really don't have high hopes for Dead Island: Riptide (though I DID like the first one). It just looks like more of the same, but with a new character (who is actually an old one from the first game). If they fixed the weapon degradation and set it at a reasonable level then it would be fine, but it was simply too broken in the first one.

As for the Zombie Bust? I don't find it offensive so much as really, REALLY weird. Who would keep that out on their table? A serial killer? Anybody you bring to your home is gonna run when they see that thing.
There's lots of people that have weird zombie collectables and other stuff of the sort.

Yeah, I found that, but I only see it being available in the UK/Australia. Everything I've read says the US version is a different special edition.
Not to worry, Deep Silver has issued an apology for only offering that bundle in limited territories*. I'm sure they'll do their best to appease anyone who feels left out.

*I seriously can't tell what they're apologizing for. The way the statement reads they could be apologizing for not having the same bundle worldwide, or they could be apologizing for the statuette looking too much like the first game and not capturing the themes of the second. I have no idea.[DOUBLEPOST=1358285686][/DOUBLEPOST]

Deep Silver considers the American and Japanese markets to be secondary to the European one, so Europe gets the best bundles. They did it with the previous game as well.[DOUBLEPOST=1358286677][/DOUBLEPOST]
I refuse to believe Steam Greenlight actually does what it's supposed to until La-Mulana is approved. It's been there months, has a significant fan following, and an active developer. The only reason I can see for it not succeeding is that Valve doesn't want to push a game that's already being sold on another distribution platform.
So... yeah... La-Mulana just got Greenlit. It's also getting the new Leisure Suit Larry remake. The system works!

Might be old news to others, but I'm just finding out that Bioshock Infinite was delayed from end of February to the end of March.

I'm handling this maturely by kicking things and wreckin' shit.

I'd be looking forward to the new Dead Island if my sister was going to be around to play it. She made it tolerable and her unflappable defense of that game was pretty impressive to see.

Personally I know it was flawed, but other than L4D there are NO solid Zombie Action games out there, so it was nice to have to play Co-Op with her.

That Bloomberg article goes into the history of Atari a lot without ever mentioning that that incarnation of Atari has almost nothing to do with the original company other than name. The name was passed around like a joint at a Phish concert.

In 1984, the original Atari Inc. was split, and the arcade division was turned into Atari Games Inc.[4] Atari Games received the rights to use the logo and brand name with appended text "Games" on arcade games, as well as rights to the original 1972 - 1984 arcade hardware properties. The Atari Consumer Electronics Division properties were in turn sold to Jack Tramiel's Tramel Technology Ltd., which then renamed itself to Atari Corporation.[5][6] In 1996, Atari Corporation reverse merged with disk drive manufacturer JT Storage (JTS),[7] becoming a division within the company.
In 1998, Hasbro Interactive acquired all Atari Corporation related properties from JTS,[8] creating a new subsidiary, Atari Interactive.[9] IESA bought Hasbro Interactive in 2001 and renamed it to Infogrames Interactive.[10] IESA changed the company name entirely to Atari Interactive in 2003.[2]
The company that currently bears the name Atari Inc. was founded in 1993 under the name GT Interactive. IESA acquired a 62% controlling interest in GT Interactive in 1999, and renamed it Infogrames, Inc.[11] Following IESA's acquisition of Hasbro Interactive, Infogrames, Inc. intermittently published Atari branded titles for Infogrames Interactive. In 2003, Infogrames Inc. licensed the Atari name and logo from Atari Interactive and changed its name to Atari Inc.[12] On October 11, 2008, Infogrames completed its acquisition of Atari, Inc., making it a wholly owned subsidiary.[13] On January 21, 2013, Atari filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection while it attempts to separate itself from Infogrames.[14]

Sega bought Relic....that's fantastic news. Sega is actually one of the most PC friendly pubs out there. They continually put out new Total War games (and that developer has the rights to Warhammer Fantasy). If the 40K license goes with Relic then it honestly couldn't have landed in a better place.

Ubisoft got South Park: Stick of Truth, so expect the PC version to suddenly not come out at the same time as the console version, no matter how good they claim your preorder is.

So... it's gonna come with Uplay then?

And now I have reason to buy a Wii U. (Which if you followed my opinion in the Wii U thread, means alot)

Yep, for a single (phenomenal) game.

Anything Nintendo at this point and time in my life.

Particularly with the Zelda series.

Just my opinion.

Nintendo plays so fucking safe is sickens me.

I sincerely doubt you've played enough of the Zelda series, because you're describing Nintendo's actions with Mario for sure, but Zelda? Every single game in the series has had large innovations in gameplay and sweeping new places/storylines/characters.

Nintendo was trying all sorts of new things with Mario until that damn New series started. Sunshine and Galaxy 1 and 2 were amazing, but they've pushed the series back about 15 years by locking it down into this New nonsense.

You think they are playing safe NOW? Just wait till Miyamoto retires/dies. Nintendo's gonna play it so safe, everything is going to be made out of soft, bouncy plastic.

Not when it's the same game 6 times over.
Call of Duty
Battlefield
EA Sports yearly $50 roster updates
Sonic

They've released their Mario and Zelda games on the virtual console, but to the best of my knowledge Wind Waker has only been released once. Besides, you still get a new Zelda game.

New 3D Mario - please give us something like 64 or Galaxy. Not New, and not Sunshine.

My brother and sister are huge fans of the old Yoshi's Story game, and now there's a new one coming out by the same producer. I've spent the better part of an hour trying to plunge a couple bricks out of the toilet.

THQ will be sold piecemeal at auction on January 22nd, which also happens to be my birthday. That seems fitting somehow.

PLEASE DON'T LET EA GET RELIC, PLEASE DON'T LET EA GET RELIC, PLEASE DON'T LET EA GET RELIC.
Under the proposed sales:
