Well, I can't speak to your character, but mine has AE bleed massive damage over time with knockback that feels stupidly overpowered. Except on ghosts and skeletons, I actually have to try against undead because they don't bleed.I beat it a long time ago. Played it again recently and for the life of me can't figure out how I did it.
I just bought Heavensward/Stormblood. I’m hoping my exp bar is turned back on
After this $&@%#!! hockey is over of course. /cry
I'm sorry to report that my post from last week remains accurate: You have 100 more quests to do before your exp bar unlocks and you can do Heavensward. https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Seventh_Astral_Era_QuestsI finished the main story
I went with a FC group and some others and they were cool with all the cutscene waiting. It made the whole thing way better. All 1,000 cutscenes every ten steps. Seriously.
I then watched a gigantic one.
And then?
More main quests it would seem??
This is honestly the thing I hate the most about this game. The gatekeeping is insane.I'm sorry to report that my post from last week remains accurate: You have 100 more quests to do before your exp bar unlocks and you can do Heavensward. https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Seventh_Astral_Era_Quests
Somebody in chat was complaining about this the other night, and somebody reminded them that there was 2 years between A Realm Reborn release (August 2013) and Heavensward (June 2015) so they have "a fair amount" of patches and/or content they released between them to hold people over. For better or for worse it's similar between Heavensward and Stormblood, though fewer quests for that transition (only 44).
While on one level I agree, on another level it really HAS kept the worst of the idiots out of PUGs. To be in a 50+ dungeon you HAD to do the ones before it. At least once. This is honestly the thing I hate the most about this game. The gatekeeping is insane.
That said if you're going to offer accelerated leveling to 60, you should at least offer a way to shortcut the *100* quests between Realm Reborn and Heavensward, because the gatekeeping really makes the exp boost worthless. While on one level I agree, on another level it really HAS kept the worst of the idiots out of PUGs. It's not perfect, but compared to other MMOs I've played, IMO it helps.
And Squids, I'm surprised it worked that way. Maybe they changed it, because 2-3 years ago, that was NOT the case. It DEFINITELY locked me to 50.
You can, for a price. That said if you're going to offer accelerated leveling to 60, you should at least offer a way to shortcut the *100* quests between Realm Reborn and Heavensward, because the gatekeeping really makes the exp boost worthless.

All that said, the end of those 100 quests was pretty satisfying. It's just the first, I don't know, 90 or so that are a real slog ...
Him and Ash, because they both keep saying IF YOU JUST SLOG THROUGH THESE BILLIONS OF QUESTS, THE LAST FEW ARE GREAT.File that post by Ravenpoe in the dictionary under Stockholm Syndrome.
I don't excuse like... 60% of the Seventh Astral Age stuff because NOTHING HAPPENS during most of it. The Moogle stuff is boring but has a great, funny trial. The Maelstrom stuff is boring, but has a fun trial. The Slyph stuff is boring and the trial isn't that awesome (but I do like the crafted weapons from it). That's -57- quests until you hit the "Dreams of Ice" stuff and actually get some lead in to Heavensward. But from there on? It's good and some of it's even great.Him and Ash, because they both keep saying IF YOU JUST SLOG THROUGH THESE BILLIONS OF QUESTS, THE LAST FEW ARE GREAT.
I’m very similar, but that’s why I’ll do a solo playthrough so I can read all the books, hear all the convos, etc. before I start going multi. And I’ll be honest, after you’ve had to hear how much someone’s stomach hurts a few BILLION times, you’ll skip it every time it tries to come up, too.I like to stop and read notes and bask in lore and ambiance and exhaust every conversation tree and enjoy the experience, but when you add more people into the mix it's all GO GO GO KILL LOOT LET'S GO WHY IS THIS TAKING SO LONG COME ON HURRY UP GO GO KILL GO KILL GO KILL and next thing I know I'm killing something and I don't know the reason why other than exp and loot and it just takes me RIGHT OUT of the experience and I lose interest.
One thing I like about this game, definitely, is that it has a different status indicator over an NPC's head based upon whether or not he has unread conversation paths available, even if they aren't quests per se.I’m very similar, but that’s why I’ll do a solo playthrough so I can read all the books, hear all the convos, etc. before I start going multi. I had hoped the ... At the end would indicate the sarcasm, but I guess just insert a /s in there.File that post by Ravenpoe in the dictionary under Stockholm Syndrome.
I have a buff called the Road to 60 or the Path to 60 and my experience is apparently accelerated. Combined with Free Company experience and the Preferred World Experience, I barely had to do many side quests. While on one level I agree, on another level it really HAS kept the worst of the idiots out of PUGs. Your level doesn't matter, it's the main quest progression that is a slog. Is it bad that Fishing is my highest level right now?
This, @Squidleybits . The 50-60 range of quests requires you to go to Ishgard and the 60-70 require Kugane, so there are limits. That said... if you like crafting? Take advantage of the Road to 60 and get ALL of your crafting and gathering to 60 before the devs turn it off on your server at some point.Your level doesn't matter, it's the main quest progression that is a slog. Any tips for that btw? If there an efficient route to level up crafting? A place to farm mats? Am I going to have to accumulate a frak-ton of gil before getting down to leveling them up?This, @Squidleybits . There are basically three ways to do it:Any tips for that btw? If there an efficient route to level up crafting? A place to farm mats? Am I going to have to accumulate a frak-ton of gil before getting down to leveling them up?
You'll want to keep doing Sylph stuff so you get more cloth and threads. It unlocks as you go along.I just unlocked the Sylph Vendor so I can cheese weaving
I appreciate that they make a lot of silly stuff available for free too. For instance, my latest emote (as done by a lala)...Right now they will sell me velveteen and linen which is a huge help!
I mean I will have to get off my butt and work on botany eventually, but this is great.
On a totally different note, I made the mistake of going to the Mog Station. Good Lord, the silly stuff there! And I want it all!!!
Would you say that you're...hooked?Help! Fishing is my highest level in Final Fantasy. I’m so bad with getting side tracked.
Sounds like you need to reel it in, pal.Would you say that you're...hooked?
