What, no Pokemon Go thread?

So the Lake Park drama continues. A public meeting by the residents in the area was held, and I'm not sure what they hoped to accomplish. They certainly didn't care to understand how the demands being asked for are not possible-

1. Asking Niantic to 'shut off' the area in the app at 8 P.M. (this is 2 hours before the park closes, by the way)
2. Moving the Pokestops to another park out of their neighborhood (essentially a 10 minute drive south to an area which already has stops)

The committee opened up the forum to questions, and instead of asking questions the players tried telling their side, something they weren't allowed to do up to this point. This caused them to be cut off and interrupted because they weren't asking questions.

Ah well, should be an interesting development. I think with winter coming traffic will certainly die down. We've already seen the numbers of people out there reduced by quite a bit after school was back in session, and I think once screens start fogging up it will make catching Pokemon much harder. The lawyer at the meeting told the neighborhood they really didn't have a case to sue Niantic to remove the stops. Players have been policing the area and cleaning up whenever there is a mess (hell, I don't smoke and I've stopped and picked up cigarette butts more times than I can count). It was rocky in the beginning due to the lack of garbages and restrooms (which for some reason were being locked long before the curfew at the park), but things are definitely turning around. It's unfortunate how contentious the two groups have become toward each other, and if they aren't careful it's only going to escalate much as the tension in the rest of the city has.

Eh, it's also an easy way of assigning blame and all that.
Some places have real troubles because of PG. Some have imaginary me-tooism.
The Royal park in Brussels claims the grass is pretty much destroyed because of all the PG players, and it'll cost tens of thousands of euros to replace it.
All technically true, but considering the amount of festivals, food truck fairs, ren faires, markets and assorted other crap in the park, they're reseeding every year because of the damage to the grass anyway, so....eh?

I'll take some pictures the next time I'm there. For the amount of traffic, it's really not as bad as it could be, especially since there hasn't been all that much rain.

My pokemon state of the union. I'm not the biggest player here on HF, but I make a respectable showing.

Level 24
Pokedex: 102 seen/captured. Just got a Raichu today.

Best 5 pokemon:
Lapras: 2097
Eggegutor: 2072
Vaporeon: 2035
Flareon: 1743
Vaporeon: 1721

I have a snorlax, but he's down in the 970's, and I haven't spent the stardust to raise him up.

I'm getting the update right now. So excited. I have a half-dozen pokemon that I only need a few candies to get their evolution into my pokedex.

edit: Starting with this dude :) I've needed 3 candies to evolve him for the last month.

Of course, Taiwan would get hit by a typhoon on the day the buddy update goes live.

Hmm... I wonder if my kilometers would get counted if, instead of walking, I'm blown through the air from place to place.

As long as it's under 20km/hr or whatever the new walk rate is these days. Get yourself a windsurfing board ;)

I've never been able to hold a Gym 24 hours. Too many people around here are still playing. But I'm almost ready to take back the one next to my house. It's a level 9, sometimes 10, and Instinct has held it for over a month. Damn kids!

Most gyms around here are blue, but there's one gym (At the European institutions Berlaymont building) that's yellow....And level 10...With 10 2200+CP pokémon. And some bots protecting it, re-upping it once you attack it. Knock out a CP 2400 Vaporeon, within minutes it's replaced with a CP 2500 Snorlax. Knock that out, boom! A Dragonite. It's....Slightly irritating. :p

Also, caught a Mr Mime yesterday.

I got a Plus. I like it because it will record my steps while my phone is asleep in my pocket instead of destroying my battery. Being able to catch stuff and get pokestops is a nice bonus too. [emoji14]

SO- *CLAP* who else can't get the fucking AR function to work?! Because that's pretty much the only reason I downloaded this damn game.
Doesn't work for me, because apparently my phone (Samsung Galaxy Grand Max) doesn't have a good enough gyroscope. Doesn't really bother me, though, I've never felt like I'm missing out.

AR only come on now when I'm taking pictures and I haven't done that in ages.

Also this is my local gym so I've all but given up on trying to take it.

I'd like to know where everyone is getting their dragonites from cause that's only 1 of 5 on that gym.

TIL people play this game for the difficulty of the catching mini game?!
Well, I suppose if there are people who read Playboy just for the articles*, then I suppose it's possible.

*Yes I realize this is becoming an archaic reference.

I'm glad I don't play this game anymore, since the latest update disables the app on rooted phones (aka mine)

I'm fairly certain you can get around that, because you can do that sort of thing with root, but fuck them.
