Fuck Escort Quests.
In every game ever. Unless they're literally invincible, then it's SOMEWHAT tolerable. In all other cases, "Go sit in this armored box. I'll kill everything between where we are, and where we need to go, and then I'll be back for you." And even then it can get fucked up.

The most egregious example was the "escort" quest in Oblivion where you needed to "teach" the local gang (noble's son and his gang) how to close an Oblivion Gate. Because of their tendancy to hit monsters off of bridges into lava and then follow them into the lava I resorted to console commands to just kill everything that spawned as soon as it did, or else they'd continually kill themselves.

This one is less "keep him alive" and more "keep him from blundering into something that will kill you both."

I know Bioshock 2 was one never-ending escort quest, but I really liked being a big daddy, and being able to set traps and stuff for the splicers that were gonna come after my little sister.

I should do some main quests instead of dicking around so much. I hadn't even found the big fairy shrine until just recently. NOW, I'm like 2000% more survivable. No more losing like 5 hearts from every enemy that sneezes at me. Life is better.

I'm annoyed that I just spent 3500 rupees on Fire resist gear and the starting armor is 3. But it is what it is.

Also my husband is playing this like he plays Dishonored and it kills me. Every time I use stealth I get annoyed. It's a Zelda game, I just want to charge in and wreck face.

Slipping around those mechanical laser spiders gives a new meaning to Shadow Link.

This game is definitely pushing the Wii U a little too hard, I had a couple of instances on Death Mountain where the game just locked up for a few seconds because there was too much going on.

I also randomly have problems with controller sensitivity going haywire. I thought it might have been the gamepad so I swapped to the pro controller and it's better, but it still randomly has the problem. I wish I had waited for the Switch version in a way. I *could* still get it, but I have way too many hours sunk into this game to be willing to start over. I'll probably just get the Switch version next time I feel like starting a new playthrough.

In other news, I have defeated my second Divine Beast, found my third great fairy, and am at 11 hearts. I'm currently shrine hunting to try to get those last two hearts I need to pull the Master Sword before I go for my 3rd Divine Beast. I could have it already, but I got three very needed stamina upgrades before I realized I needed hearts for the Master Sword.

Well, apparently the game doesn't run great on the Switch either unless you're in portable mode. Switch just can't handle 1080p properly.

If I had the Switch version, I'd be bringing it with me everywhere. I already have a battery pack as well as an outlet in my car. :p

Shit, I wish I'd thought of swapping to the pro controller. There's nothing for me on this damn screen.

I've had so little time to play this week.

Gonna do that instead when I play tonight. Thing's been collecting dust since we last played Mario Kart 8 ... probably over a year ago.

I turned off aiming with the pad right away anyway and then remembered I had the controller sitting in our controller trunk. Figured I might as well try it out and am really liking it compared to the pad. Granted I've only played about an hour so far.

Oh man, the rain can be aggravating. I'm racing up this mountain to collect a nut, my time is running low, but I can do it. SUDDENLY, the rocks are slick and I can't scale it in time. SIIIIIIIIIGH.

But this game is good. Great. De best.

"Replayability."

I prefer motion control aiming, but otherwise the button layout is better for this on the Pro.
Were you using the game pad to view the video or playing on the TV? I found the disconnect of using the TV and trying to aim with the pad very jarring.

I look at the TV and aim with the pad. Doesn't bother me, probably thanks to Splatoon requiring it be done that way.

Checked my playtime for the last week. 61 hours. If my husband didn't have 25, my playtime would probably be 86. :p

Also, 3 Divine Beasts down. Still looking for two more picture memories, not sure I can even get one of them yet without dying.

I just watched a speedrun that was under an hour.
That stuff weirds me out. It took me probably 60 hours to get through Dark Souls on my first playthrough, and then to hear the speedrun record is 45 minutes just sounds insane.[DOUBLEPOST=1489320963,1489320927][/DOUBLEPOST]
I'm pretty sure once you do the opening area and the four shrines that if you want to run straight to ganon and fight him with a stick, you can.
I remember them saying at E3 that you could head to the end anytime you want, but it would be unwise.

It really depends on how you want to qualify "beating" the game. In this scenario, the majority of the game is unplayed.

To put it into perspective, I had hundreds of hours of play time in Morrowind, a game which can be "beaten" in literally 15 minutes

It's still beating it since you reach the end, but it's missing the point.

But the speedrun community has their own strange sub-culture and rules in gaming that seems focused on a lot of shit that's really not important, at least to me. Half-A press and that kind of nonsense.
