What are you playing?

I loved Dead Island till the end, then again I only enjoyed it in Co-Op and it had really glaring issues that I couldn't get past, but the CEC building and area was fantastic.

I think I would have liked DI much better had I played it co-op, but getting my best friend to play anything FPS like at all is like pulling teeth.

My Co-Op partner is pretty much gone at this point so if we both happen to pick up this one, I'll be happy to play it through with ya.

Pretty much this. Except the sewers.

It was a flawed game but I had fun. Particularly when my friend Pat couldn't avoid those chargers for shit.

Uuuuugh the sewer levels. Also, how could he get hit by the chargers? They were slow as shit!

The fat spewers gave me the most trouble because ranged was so shit in that game.

I was the ranged girl, saved my ammo specifically for those mobs.

I think one of my biggest problems was that I picked the knife throwing guy. I wanted to be primarily ranged. On that front, if you're throwing stuff, do not do it in random PUGs. I'd throw my shit and everyone would loot my great throwing knives.

My sis played her as well, which is why we did well against them (I played melee fists guy). If I had been solo, that'd have been hell. Of course they appear for the first time in the freakin sewers.

I played throwing guy, and I had the same problem.

That, and I'd throw my best knife into a baddie's head, watch it lodge itself right between his eyes, and then watch the baddie topple backwards over a cliff.

COME BACK! YOU'VE GOT MY BEST KNIFE IN YOUR SKULL!

I never pubbed the game, nor do I plan to, so I wouldn't know.

My character used throwing knives and guns, mostly support.

I'd like to play it again but we're waiting on reviews before we buy.

Still working my way through New Vegas. Some thoughts:

1. This game is remarkably stable. I was expecting the usual Bethesda crashfest, like I found Oblivion and Fallout 3, but so far I've only experienced one crash, in like 20 hours of playing.
2. Damn this is a long main quest. The main quest in this game feels like it's three or four times longer than Fallout 3's, and I haven't even reached the end yet.
3. There are things from Fallout 3 I quite miss. The Chinese Stealth Armor, for example, as well as other useful gear. I also miss being able to get a house within the first half hour of the game, so I have somewhere to store my things. Oh, and I miss my dart gun. I was all like "Oh a bunch of Deathclaws in your quarry? No problem, I'll just find out where I can make a dart gun... wait, this game doesn't have a dart gun? Oh shit."
4. There are lots of things that are improved from Fallout 3 too. Actual usable iron sights makes sniping out of VATS a very enjoyable experience.

Timber and Stone.

Beta came out last week, played last night and today. It's clearly beta... and it's clearly addicting. It's basically a town building simulation (a genre I love but games are few and far between) RPG a la Minecraft.

Back to what I'm currently playing. If you have a PS3, and you like Metroidvania style games, definitely get Guacamelee. It's awesome but doesn't wear out its welcome. It's a little on the short side, but it is only 15.00, 10.00 if you are a PSN+ subscriber.

3.) The ammo creation system breaks the game in other ways. Once you have enough repair and guns (and survival in 2-3 cases), you can take a perk and start making Hand Load ammo, which does much more damage. Put a Hand Load in a Brush Gun or Antimaterial Rifle and you have dead Deathclaws. You can do similar with energy weapons using science and energy weapons.

4.) It only takes an hour or two to get to the hotel room at Novac, which has a safe and a chest for storing stuff. It's also really cheap to buy. Until then, just load up your companions.

Yeah, I made it to Novac and got the room there, but since this is my first playthrough it took way longer than an hour or two. Still though, it does mean that the early part of the game is lots of weight rationing, which makes sense for a survival experience like Fallout.

Haven't looked into hand load ammo yet. Will do that sometime.

It wasn't made by Bethesda. It was made by Obsidian, who tend to have even worst records for bugginess in their initial launches (but always produce amazing games). At launch, Fallout New Vegas was a crash fest of epic proportions. They did get it fixed up pretty damn well, though.

Devil Survivor: Okay, I can officially say I spend more time in battles now, because I've spent much of today grinding. I thought I was prepared for the damn big boss on the 3rd day. No, I was very, very wrong. Totally wrong approach and all. I haven't even been building my main character's stats right and there's no way to fix them. The grinding is mostly to finish out some new demons' abilities, but I hadn't even considered I'd need to make new ones for this battle. My team seemed pretty solid.

Also, slight complaint about 3DS XL design. On the DS Lite, the signal for your battery is in the upper right, so you'll see it easily regardless of which screen you're looking at. On the 3DS XL, it's in the lower right, dipping toward the underside, so even if you're looking at the bottom screen, you might not notice the blue light turn read if you're holding the console in your hands as opposed to playing on a flat surface. Would've really sucked if my system had died. I know that when your PSP first runs out of battery, you can plug it in and it'll have frozen the game right where you were (happened with Dissidia and Persona 3). I'm not so sure the 3DS would be so forgiving.

I don't like where the volume control is on the XL. Find I always move it to max volume while playing.
Not while playing for me, but as I'm pulling it out of somewhere. Never happened with the other DS's with the volume on the bottom, but on the side, I'll open it and suddenly BLAM, noise. I now have to double check its not all the way up before opening the damn thing.

I'm engaged in a weeks-long game of Civ V with a friend. Siam must burn.

Pleasantly, I am in control of 90% of the world's oil, so I have a lovely army under construction.

I've started playing Batman Arkham City, and I'm left wondering if Batman's cape shouldn't be yellow, it seems he picked up one of these between games:

Not that that's a bad thing, I'm just barely started but I'm loving the game thus far.

The gliding and such is the same as it was in Arkham Asylum, you just have a bigger environment this time around.[DOUBLEPOST=1366238922][/DOUBLEPOST]I played through the story mode of Injustice: Gods Among Us. Love the hell out of that game. They got some of the DCAU voice actors to reprise their roles. Too bad this came out after Mark Hamill officially retired from voicing the Joker. Wonder Woman, Superman (Not Tim Daily, the guy after him), Batman, at the very least got their DCAU voice actors and the guy who plays Cyborg in Teen Titans did his voice in the game.

I like the back to block replacing a block button. That was the one thing about MK that I always had the biggest problem with after playing Street Fighter games for so long. I haven't played much online, but what I did play was stable and reliable, unlike the MK9 initial launch. See some companies CAN learn from bad server launches how to adjust things so it doesn't happen again.

Far Cry 3: Man, I suck at this, but I'm also having fun. Finally, a game where I'll use the crafting system. I have to remind myself this isn't Skyrim--the roads are dangerous here and I cannot just take a relaxing stroll.

The vehicles are hectic, but exciting. I've enjoyed playing chicken with the pirates. I also love that this is a game where I can gain some distance from a pursuing car, do a barrel roll out of the driver's seat into the bushes, crouch into stealth, and a moment later watch my pursuers drive by with no idea where I am. Then I can come out and handle them knife-style if they haven't gone too far.

Once I did this and they just kept driving, right around a corner. I started to follow. Then I heard "what the fuck?" BOOM! An explosion erupted beyond the hill where they had vanished. I hurried up their way and found their car a charred wreck, their bodies littering the road. No idea what happened; all I'll say is that I didn't do it.

No, the dive bombing and then pulling up to gain speed and glide further is a new addition to Arkham City. Although you can't use that to fly forever, like you could in Super Mario World, it does allow you to glide a great deal further than you could otherwise.

Just picked up Dark Souls on the recommendation of a friend.

We are no longer friends.

Also I'm pretty sure there is no god.

Keep at it, it's so worth it.

Your every waking moment will be misery. You will learn that the world is not a safe place, and that no body loves you or ever will.

Yeah, Dark Souls is great. It just has a steep learning curve.

Once you beat the second boss (the one on the walls), you can find a guy who gives you an item that lets you call in help from other players. With people helping the game is much easier. I suggest doing this your first time through the game. It'll help you out immensely and help you learn the boss fights.

So yeah, I bought Portal 2 (I know I'm late to the party) since it hit $5 sale.

I literally put all the rest of my games on hold to blow through it. I never would have imagined, when I played Portal 1, than a game as deep, funny, driven as Portal 2 would have succeeded it. It was perfect. That's the best way I can put it.
