What are you playing?

I picked up LA Noire for 75% off on steam. So far Kinda liking it... except
I played the Golden Butterfly mission yesterday and got my first ever 1 star (unbecoming) rating, and I looked up what I did wrong... and it bothers me that to get a good rating you have to basically pin a murder on the wrong guy, because "a kiddy molestor on the street is more dangerous than a guy who once murdered his wife in a rage and is unlikely to ever do it again," especially when you have to bend logic REAL HARD to get the motive and evidence to work against the patsy.

All the evidence I got pointed to the husband, clear as day, may as well have caught him in the act. But because of the police captain's politics and a misunderstood game dynamic, I got 1 star on the mission when I think I should have gotten at least 3.
That was actually the exact point I stopped playing. That pissed me off so much.

Finally finished Poker Night at the Inventory 2 by unlocking the Portal themed Inventory and all the bounty items. I'll probably play a few more rounds to see if I can hear the rest of Ash's story about him and Wendy (which has had 4 parts so far and I'm hoping it gets a conclusion) but after that I'm done. Still $5 bucks for an entertaining 8 hours isn't a bad deal. I just wish they didn't discourage you from using your tokens on drinks by making the prices for the table unlocks so steep.

... and my achievements are bugged. I should have all of them except "We are the 1%".
I've unlocked some borderlands 2 items, but I can't figure out how to get them to apply to the game. They don't show up in BL2, and clicking 'download now' in Poker Night 2 for those items does nothing.

You need to have a SHIFT account. Go to the extras menu in Borderlands 2, make a shift account, confirm it with your email, then they should unlock. You will also get a gold key for the key chest in Sanctuary. If you want more keys, follow the gearbox twitter. They give them out pretty often.

I couldn't handle the unskippable conversations. Having to wait 30-45 seconds for some random story to finish that's been repeated every game I've played in order to check and get the next card down became too much.

Completely baffling is that the first game had options to limit this nonsense.

Okay, this is bullshit... because of a problem with Steam, I didn't receive the achievement for winning GLaDOS's bounty item in Poker Night 2... so I didn't get the achievement and didn't receive the items associated with it. The only fix for this is to delete my save and complete the ENTIRE GAME OVER AGAIN. Otherwise I can't receive the Longfall Boots for my Scout or the Portal 2 skin/head for Borderlands 2.

What utter bullshit. I know it's just 8 hours but come on...

I finished Operation Anchorage, again as the first thing I did in Fallout 3, so now I have a ton of sweet equipment, but I have no where to keep it so I'm basically crawling across the wasteland now, carrying over double my maximum load. Where does one store their equipment safely in these parts?

Go to Megaton. If you talk to the Sheriff, he will give you a quest to turn off the unexploded nuke in town. If you do so, the town will give the empty house in town for your own personal use.

Alternatively, you can talk to Mr. Burke in the bar in Megaton and he'll give you something to alter the bomb with. Do that and then go to Tenpenny Tower. Talk to Mr. Burke and Mr. Tenpenny and they'll explode the bomb, destroying Megaton and everyone in it. In thanks for your dastardly deed, you get caps and can get a room in Tenpenny Tower for your stuff.

I recommend disarming the bomb though. It's less troublesome, and destroying Megaton means you'll wipe out one of the better-developed areas in the game.

I really like that it doesn't end the Wasteland Survival Guide questline though, pretty hilarious.

Finished XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

Did the sound completely fuck-up during the final cutscene for anyone else? The sound effects went low and the voices became staticy and blaring. Anyway, final mission was kind of a letdown after all the others, but that's really inconsequential after the rest of the game was so much fun. It's rare that I keep coming back to a new game like this because the gameplay has me hooked without much of a narrative.

Next time I'll have to name my soldiers and make them look like my friends. For fun.

I did that, I also had Hulk Hogan as one of my dudes. Hulk Hogan no sold everything.
From the faces, Hulk Hogan is an easier build than loved ones. Though that reminds me, I wish you could control or influence what roles soldiers would take. You had as much chance of him being a medic as a rocket launcher guy.

Today I beat Adventure Time: Hey, Ice King, Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!! with 99% completion. Final 1% was Jake's final move, but considering how the final boss battle phases went, I doubt I needed it. It was a lot of fun, though with how the finale goes, you could almost imagine the game-makers realizing they needed to throw one more event on there to make it a good finish.

The playtime on this is pathetic though. 99% completion, and I don't rush through games, I fought lots of extra battles getting food and power-ups I didn't need all the time (I took near 20 hours to go through Bioshock Infinite, for comparison) ... my 3DS says my total time was less than 5 hours. That's ... ass. People said it was 6 hours and with my plodding along I figured I'd get 8. Nope. I see there's a New Game+ mode, but it doesn't sound like anything of value (enemies have double HP, and you get some bombs instead of levels. Woo). Honestly, not worth $20. Maybe $10.

My issue with that game (beyond me not having a 3DS) is the lack of voice acting.
That too. You can pack so much into these little 3DS cartridges. Kingdom Hearts 3DS has full voice acting. Devil Survivor Overclocked has full voice acting and that's with a bunch of optional voice-acted subplots and the five or six alternate last quarters of the game. With the Adventure Time game already being so small, there was no reason they couldn't have had it fully voiced instead of just the occasional soundbite.

Except that really, the 3DS version is a lazy port of the DS version. I'm pretty sure all you get different is that the 3DS version is slightly less expensive (for some reason). I have a feeling this game was in development for a long time and was originally going to be just a DS game and it was shifted to improve sales a la Twilight Princess. This also explains why even though I've only seen season 1 of Adventure Time, there's almost nothing I didn't recognize.

Not sure I'm gonna keep this one. Gamestop will give me $10 for it, which breaks the price down to what I feel it was worth and lets me put something towards Donkey Kong Country Returns for later this month.

Found and re-installed Sid Meier's Pirates (The Firaxis remake, not the old DOS original).

Then it was 3 hours later and I had to go to work. Dammit.

I swear that Sid Meier maintains his youthful looks and joviality through the time sucked from his consumer's gaming.

I've been playing Neverwinter, a new MMO from Cryptic Studios that went open beta a while ago, loosely based on D&D4E. It's wonky here and there, but I like it so far. For a free game, anyway, I can't complain.

Started playing DC Universe Online a few days ago. As an MMO, it's not awesome. It feels a bit simplistic.
That said, it's a hell of a time sink. I started playing a little after dinner last night, and my wife had to nudge me at 11:30 to come to bed. I thought I'd only been playing a couple of hours.

Weird. I was just coming over here to say I just reinstalled Sid Meier's Pirates! and lost 3 hours to an odd time warp phenomenon in my living room.

It's simplistic because it was developed to be a console MMO. That said, it still manages to tide me over when I get to jonesing for City of Heroes' character design process. It's not QUITE as good, but it's close enough. If you wanna know what else I think about it, it ain't bad since it's free, but I wouldn't pay for it.

So the other day I popped in the original Legend of Zelda and started playing the 2nd Quest, and it was awesome because I realized that I had never actually beaten the 2nd Quest, so it was almost like I was playing the first game for the first time all over again!

...Three days later I was still looking for level 4.

I binge on DCUO. I'll play for like, a week, and then lose interest again. They do have fun holiday events.

Last time I played I was bummed to discover they had "consolidated" some powers... now all stealth abilities are just regular invisibility. I liked my mind power to disguise as an NPC in PvP. It was neat fluff that I was really disappointed to lose.

I finally got around to playing more than an hour of Bastion and beat it last night.

For the first time ever, I think I might try the New Game+ mode.[DOUBLEPOST=1367945073][/DOUBLEPOST]But I also got FEZ on Steam and I should play that too. :)
