[Rant] Minor Rant III: For a Few Hollers More

I'm mostly kidding, I spend the majority of my time at home in my basement office where it's cool as ice. A desk fan and the joys of being 4/5's underground make it chilly even on warm days.

Fair enough, I figured I might as well offer, see if I couldn't do something for you both :D

Me, I'm crazy and love super hot weather, so I can't imagine ever buying AC.

I think it got below freezing twice this year. About an hour each time. It has already been over 90 like 10 times. Then June, July and August pretty much stays over 95 in the afternoon.

Don't forget 2011, when it was over 100 for what? 30 days straight?

All I know is that right now I can't play any games. One because I'm working from home so I need to keep on top of my job, but two because it's so damned hot in my computer room that anything I do causes the video card to scream in overheated agony.

I know that feeling Dave. It's why I bought a big, powerful fan for my room. I usually just take off the sides of my case, aim the fan at it, and run it full power. This usually helps keep everything from over heating.

You could try this as a temporary measure

I actually had a similar experimental system for one summer that used a copper coil zip-tied to the back of a fan, connected via plastic tubes to another coil immersed in a cooler full of dry ice, and the water was pushed around with an aquarium pump. It actually worked pretty darn well.

But the costs in dry ice actually exceeded the amount of money my electric bill went down that summer.

My HS chemistry teacher bought a junk radiator, mounted it to a box fan, and then ran a slow drip through it from the cold water tap and into the sink. He would consistently get about a 5°F drop.

We have a serious mold issue somewhere in the kitchen - to the point that being in there long enough to make a cup of coffee is enough to make it difficult to breathe. Gonna have to buy a dust mask and go on a mold hunt.

you can be the most capable technician in the world - and lord knows we need MORE technically capable people - but if you're incapable of basic math, please, please, please get some administrative person in your company or hand your administration off to another company. You've sent a bill in february, we're now end of may, and despite having received 4 corrections, a cancellation and new bill, a couple of credit notes and yet another correction, your bill still isn't what it's supposed to be. FFS! I've spelled it out for you! it's not hard! I even sent you an excel file with the EXACT NUMBERS and WHERE TO PUT THEM. HOW CAN YOU STILL SCREW UP?!

Idiots, the lot of them. Yes, a secretary is expensive. Waiting for a company to pay you for 4 months due to administrative cock-ups and having to spend this much time, plus making your biggest customer unhappy and frustrated, will probably cost you more.

So we have a comedy show tonight, but getting things down has been a pain in the ass.

First, they didn't put us on the calendar and instead had a hip hop open mic in our time slot. So we called them and they said, "Oops!" and put us in at 9, right before the open mic. So for the past week we've been handing out cards with the times and pimping our show...and last night we find out the venue - who were the ones who screwed up the times - has been promoting the show as 8 pm. So now we have people from Facebook coming to an 8 pm show and friends and family coming to a 9 pm show.

So I STILL don't know what time the show is tonight. I will end up having to go there at 7 to get stuff set up and then just sit there until show time. And I'm broke so I won't even be able to order anything.

I actually reset my ankle myself, by just turning myself on my right side and letting it slide back into place. This of course happened after I had a significant amount of dilauded in my system.

Stop being so goddamn awesome. Leave some for the rest of us, goddamn.
