The hell am I missing, @Dubyamn? I don't get the relationship. Explain it for a dumb guy, willya?
Every time Minmax "drops" Oblivious, his hand appears through a portal from the future, when he next "draws" the sword to catch it and pull it through. The armor Minmax wears changes color based upon the last color he said/thought about. It is a green gauntlet that comes through the time portal to grab Oblivious, and the words "Remember me?" are heard through it before it closes.

The comic linked by Dubyamn is the last comic we saw of the G.A.P., and it features a green flash, and the phrase, "Hey, Names, remember me?"

It's all coming full circle. The person who interrupted their flight from Kore the psycho paladin is Minmax, and he will draw oblivious. Beyond that, who knows what happens.

Especially given that Minmax and Forgath are, what, level 3? Level 4 maybe? And by this point, every member of the GAP is level 6. Will oblivious make the difference? Will there even be combat, or will something else intervene (Kore)?

One door this does close, that I had considered a possibility - I thought it might be possible that, since she can no longer walk, Minmax would offer to carry Kin to her home with the teapot, before he and Forgath used it to find the GAP. It's very unlikely such a journey would not have him draw Oblivious even once... so it looks like either Kin will continue on with them instead, or, far more likely, they're about to part ways. Perhaps with tailless Kin joining the new "Kin Adventuring Party."

Yeah, I thought for sure that was Dies Horribly.

I obviously need to re-read the archives as I've forgotten a lot of what has happened so far!

Man is that one hell of a stretch.
Is what a stretch? It's the whole point of the dungeon crawl through the maze of many. Forgath and Minmax are under the mistaken impression that Names and the GAP are trying to end the world by bringing the winged goblin prophecy to fruition. They agreed to help kin retrieve the teapot so they could use it to be teleported to the GAP. They're one room from the teapot. Doesn't seem that much of a stretch.

Yeah I agree with Gas, the "remember me" line is clearly a reference to the flash of light encountered by the GAP last time we saw them. Also, remember Minmax is the only one who calls Complains "Names," which is what was said after the flash. It's pretty clear all these add up to indicate Minmax is about to teleport to the GAP, and intercept them on the stone bridge where we last saw them.

It'd be a huge subversion if Thunt doesn't actually go down that road though.

Sooooooooo

Doesn't Forgath die at the hands of another dwarf?

And Kore is the only other dwarf in the ccomic?

And they're about to teleport to where Kore is?

The goblin mystic prophesied that Forgath would die extremely nastily at the hands of a dwarf, yes. The talking wall of Brassmoon city also seemed to back that up.

Wall: "Oh, yeah, no, you don't want to know that. If you ever find those goblins, it's going to end badly for both of you. When the serpent becomes your prey, friends become enemies and love will fuel hate. Ask something else. "

Forgath: "Hey, that's what that goblin hag said to me. She also said a dwarf would kill me."

Minmax: "What?!"

Wall: "Oh yeah, that's totally going to happen. And not a good death either. Lots of screaming."

Edit - oh hey, boy, the Wiki has an image that just made ALL THAT TYPING UNNECCESSARY.

My guess:

Kore is Forgath from another reality. The multi-Kins have suggested the possibility that adventurers can return to realities that are not their own. Kore is following the rules from his own reality, that's why he can kill innocents and still remain a paladin. The GAP and FMK will team up to fight and kill Kore, with Forgath dealing the final blow.

Serpent becomes your prey: Kore goes after Kin, or possibly the multi-Kins if they follow FMK back to their reality. Kin may die here.
Friends become enemies: Minmax fights Kore-Forgath.
Love fuel hate: Kin and Minmax's love will make Minmax hate Kore for attacking Kin.

Another. God. Damned. Altsplanation.

For crying out loud. I can't wait til we're out of the maze of many so Thunt won't have that horrible crutch to lean on to pad his update schedule.

I mean, even though I didn't like the Tempts Fate comics... at least they were comics.

Because I’ll be at Gencon, the next two updates will be Altsplanations. Any time the progression of the comic is slowed, it bothers me. However, I haven’t been to a convention in two years (not including VCON, which is figuratively in my back yard) and it’s time I go.
IF YOU HAD TIME TO DO TWO ALTSPLANATIONS YOU HAD TIME TO DO ONE COMIC INSTEAD. Seriously, the only comic I've seen with a more lax update schedule is VGCats.

BoxerHockey is WAY worse than Goblins.

You don't read a lot of webcomics, do you?

Falling somewhere between Goblins and VGCats:
  • Megatokyo
  • Erfworld
  • Sugar Bits / Grim Tales from Down Below / Power Puff Girls Doujinshi
  • ExtraLife
  • Real Life Comics (at least, right after the birth of Greg Dean's daughter)
  • Sheldon (during the production of the documentary "Stripped")
  • Drive (still in limbo)
  • The Wotch
And that's just (presumably) surviving comics. Retired comics with update schedules that were far more erratic than Goblins include:
  • Melonpool
  • damn this list could probably go on for about a mile why bother?

Megatokyo is classified as surviving? Did Fred start updating again? Last I saw he'd basically stopped for over a year or something.

Yeah I stopped reading Megatokyo for like a year, went back and checked it again, and there was something like two new strips.

(Disclaimer: This is based on my subjective memory, I don't remember the exact number, so I don't know exactly if it really was two strips in one year. It was a disappointingly small number for the length of time though, that much is certain.)
