What are you playing?

I'm definitely going to wind up putting well over 100 hours into this one.
That might be a little high. I'm at 90 hours of playtime, according to Steam, and that's two nearly 100% run throughs (I didn't get all the stupid objectives like "carsurf for a ridiculous amount of time").

Oh damn, Saints Row 4 is having a free weekend. I do not have time.

So I'm playing through the entire (canon) Assassin's Creed games and just finished Brotherhood

How did they go from two solid and amazing games to this garbage? The story was so garbage (the beginning was lame and the ending was worse) with no point but filler. The gameplay was atrocious. The controls were wonky as all shit. The missions were all repetitious and boring. All the side missions were pointless (with the exception of Cristina which was the only saving grace of the game). The graphics looked nicer but were optimized by a potato (I have newer games with more graphic intensity that ran smoother than this. For all it's attempt to be interesting and secretive it came off as boring and drawn out.

I'm really hoping Revelations is better, I start in a few minutes.

That's hard to believe considering what garbage Brotherhood was. Oh well, gotta get through them to get to the rest. Thanks for the heads up though.

Revelations is pretty much just its touching ending and all the crap to get that far. Honestly, I didn't really care for 3 either and though it was pretty boring aside from the first section of the game and the naval missions.

As for Scribblenauts Unmasked, Gamestop wouldn't take it back. I tried pawning it off on my wife, but she only played for 10 minutes before she got fed up with it. Oh well, she tried.

Ready for the final mission of XCOM Enemy Within. I say ready meaning we can go anytime and all the research is done, but I'm not sure we're actually going to be victorious. Best plan might be to sneak past any big mechs we meet and just hurry to the final room.

Don't care. Loved Brotherhood. Never had an issue with my PC.

Also, since I'm from Italian origins, romping in pre-Italian cities is always a pleasure.

Assassin Creed games are never perfect, gameplay wise.

And I never have any PC issues with ANY game, even stuff like Bethseda games on release week. That just speaks volumes about Brotherhood.

Personal attachments may make a game feel better to the individual but definitely don't make up for massive shortcomings.

AC1 and AC2 were near perfect. Not the garbage controls that Brotherhood was.

AC3 was tedious and Connor of the Stoic No-Personality clan didn't help matters.

But yeah, the controls were fine.
The ship stuff was tons of fun, which is probably why it's the focus of much of AC4 and Ubisoft is thinking about spinning it off into it's own series. The only thing I think could make it better is if it were multiplayer and each player was a crewman who had their own important stuff to do.

I personally feel Brotherhood is my favorite among the Ezio games, but I fully respect Gilg's opinion, even if I disagree with pretty much all of his points.

But Revelations felt rushed and incomplete. It concludes Ezio's story, but I would've preferred a better game to be his final sendoff.

Oh yeah, I adored the ship stuff. If they do a game devoted solely to that, I'll buy it release weekend.

Going to take a small break from the AC series after all and do my 5th play through of Fallout: NV. Probably won't finish it before going back to AC but needed a little break after Brotherhood.

If you haven't yet, try a sneaky unarmed character. It's pretty amazing.

Do you have Fallout 3 too? Consider combining them with a mod called Tale of Two Wastelands.

Zelda: Wind Waker HD - Finished a couple days ago. Good ending, but the first three final boss phases pissed the hell out of me.

XCOM: Enemy Within - Finished last night. No one died in the final mission and no countries left the Council. Got a little hectic in the final room, but we nailed it.

Feeling good about myself, I started an Ironman run with Marathon and some other options turned on. My aunt and cousin were killed by floaters and Australia is on the verge of leaving.

I love this game.

Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - I JUST DON'T WANT IT TO END. But on the bright side, I got my wife to try it out and despite being terrified of everything in Ocarina of Time, she likes this one, and now she has it too.

I don't want to overhype it, but the finale is my favorite part of the game, which is saying something since the whole game is amazing.

FarCry 3 is blurry as fuck. It's got consolitis out the wazoo. I hate all the post-processing bullshit that goes into games today. It's ruining for me what would otherwise be an enjoyable game. Crysis 1 still stands tall as the best of the Crytek bunch.

Zelda: Skyward Sword - Holy shit, the controls are grating. I'm not sure the game designers actually tried flying or they'd know human wrists don't comfortably shift that way.

I heard this game was annoying and avoided it, but Hyrule Historia got us interested in its story and mythology and my wife was pushing me to play. Had this come out when the Wii was released, I'm sure I would've been more enthusiastic, but I'm over motion controls to this degree. I'm gonna play through it because I paid $40 for it too long ago to now return it, but this is gonna test me.

EDIT: Oh, and whose stupid idea was it to make a basic action like using your sword drain the stamina wheel? Fucking hell.

Yeah wait until you have to precisely swing your sword so that you don't take damage and your wiimote reads the motion wrong. and it happens over and over and over and..... Yeah, it's annoying as hell. Wii Motion Plus was definitely not as awesome as advertised.

That's what I was afraid of. I got to the point where I have to "hold the sword skyward", and my wife and I were expecting this big dramatic moment ... and then had Link flailing the sword every which way as I tried to get the blade in just the right spot. We laughed hard over it, but right afterward I thought, "That's not gonna be so funny when I have to do something like it during a battle."

The Banner Saga

Kickstarted it back about the same time that Double Fine did theirs, and it released the exact same day. Having beaten it now I can say I am very happy I did. A solid game overall, whether we're talking about the art style or design, the turn based tactics gameplay that was fun and challenging, or the detail put into the world. Their choices mostly feel like they matter in some way, either in the story or in game effects. I'm looking forward to the next part.

That trailer looks great. May have to check that one out.

I got my wizard to 60 in Diablo two weeks ago! I haven't played very much since then, but I did start Inferno shortly after. I also had a bit to drink one night and thought it would be a good idea to start a hardcore wizard as well. I only got her to level 4 before I got far too tired to keep going. She died at 16, I think... Oops. That didn't last long at all!

Easing back into Animal Crossing again! I'm working my way through November. HA! I didn't want my flowers to die, so I moved the clock back and just picked up right where I left off (Halloween).

Twiggy picked up A Link Between Worlds for my birthday, so I should be jumping into that soon!

Infamous 2

Well, I finished it. It definitely got better around the halfway mark. I probably slogged through it because I'm a sucker for sandbox games with lots of side stuff to do. Whenever I play a sandbox game, I tend to play all the side stuff I can, then the story mission, then more side stuff that gets unlocked as a result.

I also beat it with the Good ending. I just don't understand the point of a "Total saint vs. Total dick" moral choice system. It confuses the hell out of the canon if you're doing sequels (like the upcoming Second Son, though I hear they're treating the Good ending as canon). Worse, it's hard to relate with the character because if there are a bunch of cut scenes with the character and they act the exact same in both ways except for minor bits where you have to make a choice, then it makes for confusing character development. Ugh. I know that moral choice systems are popular like this or Mass Effect, but I'm hoping they go away.

I think Mass Effect's choice system was better than what's presented in Infamous. Even the renegade choices were still 'heroic' in the greater sense, as they served the purpose of the greater goal. Infamous was more like KotOR, where your choices were either Gandhi or Hitler.
