Gas, you shouldn't let it effect you so much. Your going to get nauseous if you do. Irregardless, its really a moot point, because there going to use bad grammer alot more then you, and you'll literally loose your mind if you let it get to you. Besides, language evolves and this principal means you shouldn't tie yourself to historical usage. Rather than getting angry you should of given them a complement for the things they got right.

But, you know, i could careless.

C-c-c-c-combo breaker!

So at the end of the Spring Semester, we were arranging the schedule and had three work study students lined up to make sure that there were at least 2 people working at all times. These students are paid via Federal Work Study grant, so the money doesn't even come from the college and it can't be used for anything else. Our department head told us that "I can't justify having that many work study students over the summer. You can have two, as long as one doesn't start until July." So, with my supervisor on vacation this week, that means that except for 90 minutes in the middle of the day, we're down to single coverage from opening to closing. That means that if we're doing anything that can't be done from the main desk - like shelving books, helping students find research material, showing students how to use the databases, doing a photo ID for the student (which is on a different floor from the main desk), checking / repairing the printers (they jam frequently), and doing minor tech support in the library, student lounge, or a classroom - there's no one there while we're doing that, much less if, god forbid, either one of us has to use the facilities. Oh, and for half the day (before I get there), since it's only a work study student, they're not allowed access to certain programs we use, so anything requiring that has to wait.

Today my department head called (she is actually stationed at a different campus) and said she's gotten complaints about adequate coverage. "I keep hearing that people have come to the desk for help and no one's there for several minutes!" "Well, yes, that happens. If we're doing (any of the above), then we have to be away from the desk for a few minutes." "Well, we need to make sure's always someone at the desk." "Okay, so we'll be getting another work study student then?" "What? No! Why on earth would you think that?!" "Because if the problem is that there aren't enough people to cover the desk, we can fix that by getting another person?" "Look, you just need to make sure that you're always there at the desk when people come for help. You're not busy enough to need another person." "Um, but half the things I do require me to get away from the desk to help." "I didn't call you to get backtalk, you just do your fucking job!" *click*

That sucks and is infuriating. If a genie popped up in front of me, and started to say "you may have one wi.." I'd immediately cut him off by saying "I wish stupidity caused actual, constant physical pain to the stupid!"

What really gets me about it is that I want to shout into the phone, "This is a problem that you have directly caused, and that you could fix in a matter of minutes at effectively no cost, but that you're too stupid and stubborn not to, and yet it's somehow, to the lymph node you use as a mind, my fault?!"

Go over her head with details, or find a sympathetic student who'll could write up something for the school paper/blog detailing their experience and commiserating with you as you explain why shite's all farked up.

Speaking from experience, that can be a dangerous path, if there's a trail back to you, and the boss is prone to psychobitchsplosions.

How? How? How is it possible that I ended up explaining in vitro fertilization to my kids on the way home tonight. I just asked them how school was.....

 I need a drink, or 5 drinks...

Not sure if this is pregnancy related but I am super annoyed for no reason today. Like, almost hostile?

I don't want anyone touching me or picking at me. Not even my own son who is super snuggly. I just want everyone AWAY.

I feel god damn surly and I dislike it.

Yeah, and considering the head of the college is currently in litigation for the third time, and his immediate subordinates want to cut our department entirely to save money (despite the fact that we would lose accreditation), I'm not sticking my neck on that particular block.

What's the point of being the greatest thief in history if some dopey deus es machina is just going to accidentally erase it!?

Man.....F home buying. Such a pain in the ass. I talked to my loan officer and my realtor, explained my finances to the best of my knowledge, and tried to ask as many questions as I could. I thought I was spot on ready to go based on my cash reserves. NEITHER OF THEM thought it would be worth explaining that closing costs were due UP FRONT and could not be rolled into the mortgage. With the down payment I am looking at the most I can ask the seller to contribute is 3%....which ultimately means I can't buy a house.

So freaking pissed right now.

Pulled a real bone-head move on Saturday as I was leaving work. Put my shades on, walked outside to my wife's car, set the glasses case that then contained my regular glasses on the trunk, had a cigarette, got in the car, drove away. Now I get to leave work early today and go get new glasses that I can't afford to buy right now. Hopefully there's a decent amount in my HSA account.

Zenni Optical? The shipping time might not work for you if you need them right away, but it's worth ordering a cheap pair for backup.
