What are you playing?

LINE PIECE

But my Lord!

LIIIIIIINE PIEEEEEEEEEEEECE
[DOUBLEPOST=1402362072,1402361741][/DOUBLEPOST]I've been playing Heroes of the Storm. Abathur is probably the most fun character I've ever played in any MOBA. I'm not aware of anyone like him in any other game in the genre. He's 100% support. He can place mines in a large radius on the board and he possesses friendly heroes and can shield them and attack through them. it's pretty awesome. Kinda sucky if you're dealing with a bunch of bad heroes, but he's pure strategy.

I WANT IN THE BETA ALPHA SO BADLY!

I both love and loathe this game. It's great when you get a good team, but lately I've just been getting absolute morons who don't understand that we need to stick together. It got to the point that I started bitching about it in chat, so you can imagine how either side reacted to that. One game, someone called me a moron for not healing with Voltar (even though I couldn't keep up with the guy who was all over the place and not following the droids to take down turrets). So I just stopped playing until we inevitably lost. Immature? Probably. For some reason, I was in a bad mood tonight playing and getting morons over and over on the random teams didn't help.

The only thing that sucks is that matches take FOREVER to get into unless it's peak usage time, seeing as there aren't as many people in the Alpha.

Also, I have to teach people what Abathur does every game I play because I literally never leave the home base except to get merc camps because that's the way the character is designed. They also keep running out of range of my abilities because they don't realize I'm assisting. GRRRRRRR.

You get a giant floating thing over your head showing that I'm infesting you... PRESS THE GODDAMN ATTACK.

So, Poe, I wish I could invite you so I didn't have to team with morons :p

Dawn of War II: Retribution. Again. This usually happens when I read a bunch of 40K and get in a heretical mood. I might backtrack further and go back for some Dark Crusade---but only after I finish redoing all the campaigns again.

I didn't like that the smaller squads somehow had even more micromanagement.
Oh god, this... playing Imperial Guard in DoW was bad enough, as you were constantly switching between squads to execute guys for a morale boost and to resupply... but it's even worse in 2.

I give up. I fucking give up. I can't fucking play this game. I suck. Worse, I'm 150% sure the characters are horribly unbalanced because there are certain ones that always always always kill me.

I uninstalled it.

Mega Man IV: I can see why people badmouth this one a little; it's not quite as epic feeling, but I had a lot of fun with it and will play it again, like the others.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate: Never, ever stop playing a game at a hard boss. Finish the hard boss while you still remember how to play, and then take a break. I decided to pick this up again and try to finish over the summer, but I realized where I stopped and I also realized I have NO IDEA what I'm doing or how to play or what a hunting strategy is, or anything at all. I am flailing around like a heavily-armed toddler.

I may just wait for Monster Hunter 4.

Actually, the conventional wisdom on the subject (if I may quote Brentalfloss) is, after the best (2) "was tight", "Three was good, and 4 was pretty good, and 5 and 6 were OK, but 7 sucked big dinosaur balls."

Me, I just play 2 over and over again, with the occasional foray into 3.

If you MUST play 7, get the fanmade 8-bit version instead of the SNES one. It looks and plays better and you won't have a garing change between 6 and 8 then.

Also, play Megaman and Bass and Megaman Anniversary before 8.

Crash Bandicoot

...does anyone else think that 90s platformers were made to induce madness? I think so, especially with the gem challenges- DEAR LORD the gem challenges.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate: Killed the Duramboros just before my bus got to outside work. Now I remember why I like this game--it is so satisfying to finally beat one of those fuckers. I'll keep playing, but I'm still gonna avoid any underwater hunts that I don't have to do.

Earthbound: This game has aged so well. I don't know why I remembered having to grind so much; if you just don't run from battles when you're going around, you'll be strong enough for most situations. Or maybe I've just wandered around more because this time I don't know what I'm doing by heart, whereas last time I played this on the SNES I knew what to do, so got in less random encounters naturally. In any case, it's still a great game.

I think the only time I felt like I needed to grind was in Onett, because if you're not ready Franky and his robot will eat you alive, and without Psi Rockin' alpha the giant ant tends to be a huge pain.

I think I was just so lost in Onett that I happened to get enough exp. I just remember the Sharks themselves kicking my ass many years ago until I grinded enough on snakes and such.

Yeah the Shark gang is nasty at first, you almost have to avoid going past the first couple streets until most animal enemies are running away from you. I usually got there after finding the secret clubhouse for the helmet and buying a new bat/accessory/shitload of hamburgers. By then, most of the place is easy and you should be well on your way to being a level or two above what you need when you reach the Giant Ant.

I've been playing A Dark Room.

I'm not entirely sure how to describe it. It's a browser-based web game, sort of like cookie clicker in some ways, except you start out in a dark room and end up... well... very very far away from this room.

I have that on my iPad but haven't played it yet. Seems pretty interesting. Are you enjoying it?

I got to the second Your Sanctuary place tonight, at which point my wife started asking questions and I realized Earthbound is a very difficult game to explain. It just needs to be played to be understood.

Yes I am, and I'm not entirely sure why. It's quite a simple game, in both concept and execution, but the gradual process of discovery, and learning to balance resources for optimal survival, is quite engaging. The ending is also a bit of a surprise.

Sarah bought Wind Waker HD awhile ago and I've been playing a bit of that as I had never done so before. Really liking the light hearted nature of the game so far.
