Halforum Minecraft Server

It's using the default port, so you wouldn't think it would take any fanciness. I'll check and make sure though.

And the IP address is??? There hasn't been one posted since the server change I think. Or maybe I"m blind or something. So please post it either here, or on the first post.

Hey look! A new Map!

I'm also uploading a backup of the world now to share. I'll try to post that tonight. I have created a new fancy pants map, but that will take some time to get up.

Sorry for being a bit MIA. Between the new job that actually requires me to work, spending more time with the lady and daughter, planning a wedding, and summer time, it's been tough to find time to do much of anything. I think I'm getting a routine set now that will give me a bit more time though.

Biggest thing I want to see in 1.8 is the inability to use any sort of see-through pack.

I'm of two minds about that. I wish they'd do better chunk cacheing client side - it'd really cut down on the effects felt by "server lag" on systems such as we've had. But cacheing necessitates sending all the chunk data to the client - even for blocks not in direct line of sight. Thus, if anything, x-ray client plugins would become more powerful. The only way to truly disable them would be to do all block data updates in real time according to line of sight, which would massively increase server CPU load (because it would have to calculate line of sight rather than relying on the client to do so) and exacerbate the in-game effects of latency.

I was talking with Aussie earlier, and he graciously offered his services if anyone wants an access hole to the top of the nether near their portals. If you're interested, let him know and he'll hook you up.

Interesting. So massive jungle trees can grow through bedrock? Interesting.
Yes. people often use that "destroys what it spawns through" method to get rid of bedrock. There's no putting it back, though, so you have to be careful.

Cheaters! ;) Breaking through my bedrock...

Looks like they're starting to finalize the next release. Might not be too much longer.
We’re starting to enter the last phase of our development cycle for 1.8, and so we’ll be focusing on finalizing features, fixing bugs and optimizing the game over the next few weeks as we draw a little closer to something we’d like to eventually consider releasable. Todays snapshot is one such example, bringing (hopefully) some big optimizations to the server and client, a few less bugs to worry about, and a handful of hugs in their place.

My server had a setback. Found out main drive in computer is going bad, this ruined the backups all the way back to May 7th.
...good thing I make a separate copy whenever I up the version (on June 28), only lost 1 week of work. One guy had mined 3 stacks of redstone blocks, he was very happy to see that work wasn't lost.

Hey, aussie and I were talking about taking on the Enderdragon this upcoming weekend. @Shakey this is your server, is that cool? Anyone interested in joining? Any complaints against?

By the by, Aussie apparently has tons of extra gear, so no worries there.

I say do it guys. I will be sad to miss it, as I'm travelling for work, but don't let that stop you two. Down the dragon!

I'm interested. I'll log on this week and make sure I'm prepared. Just tell me what to do.

Go for it. We'll never get everyone together for it. I'd love to be there myself, but I'll be camping. Give him hell!
