[TV] The What Anime Are You Watching Thread!

I need to watch more stuff. I saw guardians of the galaxy last night and have had tons of work this week. I hope tomorrow before I go to pick up my mom I can sit and watch stuff.

Persona 4: The Animation, episode 5

I get what this is, because I've played Persona 3 ... but I really hope the show doesn't feel the need to cycle through a bunch of the social link subplots. They aren't necessary for the main story in the games as far as I know, and this really felt like a filler episode. Even Chie was trying to get the plot back on track, but Narukami's all "Nope, gotta please this girl I just met and don't even like because of a sport team that I don't care about all that much, but hey, it's a small town, so I'll die of boredom if I don't do something, never mind getting sucked into the TV or trying to solve two murders."

Also, I gotta say that I think people are a little over-critical of Narukami. Reviews I'd read before watching the show made it sound like his personality was just randomized stuff from dialogue options from the game, but I haven't seen it like that so far in the show. Maybe people just think it feels that way because his personality differs from how they played the main character in the game? At this point in the series, I don't see a problem.

They do a better job of condensing the social link stuff in the future. I'm pretty sure the only ones they really address in the series are Death, Moon, Strength, Tower, Temperance, Devil, and the main cast (plus Nanako and Margaret). Moon and Strength are covered in the episode you already saw. Death, Tower, Temperance, and I think Devil get covered in the Yu's Summer Break two-parter.

Persona 4: The Golden is almost entirely about Marie's story, which means most of the episodes feel like social link episodes. But it DOES build to something at least.

I probably will skip The Golden. If I ever get to play the game, like a Vita becomes $20 or actually gets other games I'd want, then I'll see the Marie stuff and the other social links. For now, I just want to see the main story, so episodes like this one had me rolling my eyes.

Not watching as much as usual this season, probably going to end up binge-watching a lot of shows when they're over/nearly over. So far Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun is the funniest show this season, without a doubt, and Barakamon is just plain fun.

Found the weirdest dvd case ever on a dirty pair dvd set. its like a old vinyl disney clamshell with soft vinyl disc pockets. It its barcode is the 2013 lite box release from rightstuf.

Havent watched it yet. Got in late last night. Going to check it after work but I think it might be legit due to the art and barcode matching with the disc id when I run it in the database. I might fire am email off to rightstuf and see if they have any info.

I once bought a VHS set of Cowboy Bebop off e-bay that turned out to be bootlegs. However, the bootlegger had gone through such lengths to ensure recording quality, packaging detail, etc (I'm pretty sure they were taped off the DVD) that I didn't make trouble for him. Those tapes lasted me years of near-constant playing before they started to degrade, as any VHS does. By the time they got to be unwatchable, I had broadband and torrenting was a thing.

So its either one of the best boots I have ever seen or the cases were replaced after purchase.

Ill check part 1 when I get home and see if the disc art matches.

EDIT: checked and discs match inside part one, I think somebody broke their cases...

I started watching Gun Gale Online/Sword Art II. I'm only on episode 3, so I'm reserving my opinion for now since it really hasn't even started.
I'm digging it. It's going back to stuff that wasn't really resolved from the Sword Art Online arc, while also telling a new story with a few new characters. Plus the new world is fun and interesting after a full season of sword and sorcery.

The first SAO is also on Netflix, along with Kill la Kill and some other great series. Heaven's Lost Property (Sora no Otoshimono), My Bride is a Mermaid (Seto no Hayonome), Baka and Test, and plenty of others. They also just added a ton of episodes from the new Hunter x Hunter series which I've started watching recently.

Just a heads up: Don't even glance at the latest episode of The Golden (#6) (even though you said you aren't watching it) until you've finished the entire Persona: The Animation. It's a super spoiler for one of the main mysteries of the game/show and I don't want it to be ruined for you.

Yet no complaint about the endless eight?
My mistake, I Thought that was what we were talking about.

Yeah, the second season episodes that went "between" the others that were so repetitive it cured me of any inclination to watch the series further.

Thankfully I had heard about Endless Eight, so I watched the first and last ones. Disappearance is the movie, which is fantastic. Kyon's monologue at the end is just great.

I plan to rewatch the whole thing and then the movie. In other news I received maken-ki! In the mail its apperantly by the director of ikki tousen. Should be fun.

I just checked. You are right, the blueray cost over 100$ on amazon. On the german amazon page the british import dvd still cost 10€ and I can get the complete 2. season for 13 €. Because of endless eight I wasn't to eager to buy a copy right away after release, but i think i will reconsider for a complete collection. The german release however is still expensive, like most anime dvds.

Soul Eater finally has Japanese w/ subs on Netflix, so I've started on that. It's fun. Noragami was added too, and I've been meaning to watch it, so that's on the queue as well.
