What are you playing?

RE: Banished
I've gotten pretty far, but the farther you get the more heartbreaking that one single mistake is.

Sounds like a game I'd bomb at big-time.

I'm so bad at keeping villagers alive in things that when I first played Black & White, I heard "death" so many times that I thought it was the evil god taunting me, and took me a while to realize it was the game alerting me that my villagers were dying.

Dota is fun for a change of pace from league but I always end up going back to league. I'm sure it would click over time, like it did with league, but not knowing the items and having to rely on builds to do anything useful is a little bothersome. On the whole I find it less forgiving too.

I haven't played much though so honestly barely know what I'm doing in it.

Pretty much the reason I play DOTA2 instead of league...don't feel like relearning everything.

I've found league much quicker this season. Rarely do I have games that go over 30 minutes. When they do go over that though they end up in the hour range but I find these infrequent any more. Not sure how short HotS or Smite games are, or if your more talking about the flow of a game, where 10 minutes feels like 3 vs feeling like 15.

For league the first 15 always whips by for me then the rest goes like you would expect.

Average game time for HOTS is 15-20 minutes, and you pretty much dive right into team fights. There isn't the whole last hit so I can buy items phase which I find tedious.

Smite games are a little longer, but again, jump right into team fighting without the serious farming, and you can customize your levelling and item buying to be done automatically in the order that you would do it in game, so it takes a lot of that micromanaging of the inventory out of the picture, which for me is a godsend. I'm here to fight, not play the sims.

Oh cool, I guess Wasteland 2 is officially released in 2 weeks. I haven't watched anything or played any of the beta stuff so I'm looking forward to digging into the finished game for the first time.

Yeah, it's very unforgiving, and seems nearly impossible to come back from a bad decision. My first try's mistake was building too many houses too fast, so kids were moving in together and having babies as soon as they hit their teens. I've started a new game now, 38 years in and a population of 63 growing much more slow and steady. I just figured out the town hall is surprisingly useful as a means for tracking trends in things like your birth rate or surplus food generation, all the better for knowing when to build more houses and when to.. not.

Also, fuck the livestock merchant, that guy's an asshole. 800 per cow and a wants list narrower than Hank Hill's urethra. Hey I've got 3000 venison "nope, how much raw iron and wood you got?" uhh.. like... 50 of the former and 200 of the latter "See you in 10 years." FUUUUUUUUUUU

Shin Megami Tensei IV

What a weird, cool, little game. I'm hooked. It's hard, but not frustratingly so. Was a good recommendation. Thanks!

Trion (Rift, ArcheAge) has been getting DDoS'd the last couple days so servers are spotty and crashing pretty often. Working on a Reyn/Riki/Sharla replay of Xenoblade I had put aside awhile ago. I'd love to use someone instead of Sharla, but she's got so many heals and they're all so strong it's hard to not use her constantly.

Still going through Assassin's Creed IV. Won't bother with the diary entry style of writing anymore. That was fun at first, but don't feel like doing it anymore.

Just got to the part where you get a diving bell in order to do underwater levels. It'd be a lot more fun if the swimming controls weren't so infuriating. Not to mention trying to hide from sharks is near impossible. There should've been an upgrade where you can defend yourself from them; a harpoon or something.

I also absolutely hate how the game keeps pulling you out of the pirate world in order to take you back into the future. I didn't like this about any of the Ass Creed games and I sure as hell don't like it here. It takes you right out the game, both literally and figuratively. You're basically playing a guy who is playing the game. And the future stuff isn't even remotely interesting, especially in comparison to the pirate stuff.

Once again, this game would have worked a LOT better if it was just a stand alone title, away from the Ass Creed trappings.

I tried DOTA. Played a few games and the people on it were horrible. So I never played again.

I've actually found the community in DotA 2 to be pretty good. Miles above League of Legends. I've only played a few multiplayer games, but in each, I told my team I was brand new and just learning, and they were more than happy to give me pointers, and forgive my mistakes.

Next time you see me on, give me a shout. We can do the mid lane 1v1 mode and you can get some practice in and I can teach you about items.

But then again, I may not be the best teacher. I only have 1991 hours on record.

...man I need to reevaluate my life.

I'd play more MOBAs if you they had better support for co-op with friends vs a team of good AIs. That's what I liked about Demigod so much. Was easy to get two or three friends and go up against a team of difficult AIs.

I'm doing much better on my second attempt at Banished. It's year 70 and I've got about 240 villagers. I've unlocked several cheevoes in the process as well, namely those for health, happiness and two for trading volume. I've survived several fires, crop infestations, and even an outbreak of scarlet fever without the town coming to real jeopardy.

I'd probably have the education achievement too, if it weren't for all the durn nomads I keep taking in.

Smite has a pretty decent coop mode.

I must be one of the few who thought Infinity was probably the weakest Bioshock. It was pretty but it's pretty much as linear as it gets. Elizabeth was awesome, seriously but the storyline in general was MEH to me.

Want more System Shock or Andrew Ryan plz.

I actually liked the gameplay of Bioshock 2 better than 1. I know everybody bitches about "the escort mission that never ends" but I liked setting up traps and defending the little sisters intelligently.
