[TV] The What Anime Are You Watching Thread!

I finally finished watching Juben-Chan, what a strange anime about girls from a parallel dimension that charge up depressed people, and their pervy interactions with each other and a man from our world who can see and touch them where as no one else can.

Also tentacles.

YOSH- "Asasination Classroom" is getting a show in January of next year! Also a...live action movie. Instinctive cautious optimism- GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Honestly I don't know for sure. Apparently it went totally off the rails compared to the novels, but I haven't read those. It just isn't as fun as the first season. There's some decent stuff, and if you really like s1, watch it for new characters. But it definitely does not compare to s1.

that is too bad man, I have only seen so little and already fell in love with the writing. the saber-esk knight chick is totally adorable.

I've also started reading "Pygmalio" on Mangareader, an old school fantasy manga and I love love LOVE it! The second monster he fights-
is a giant turtle that shoots flying sea turtles as projectiles! AWESOME!

Card Captor Sakura is on CrunchyRoll, so I've been watching that with my daughter. Dubbed sadly, because she has no patience for subs.

My Crunchyroll rotation is pretty consistent: Sword Art Online, Aldnoah Zero, Rail Wars. Anything else tossed in is a pleasant bonus.

Also, apparently Log Horizon is returning for the fall season. YESSSSS!

been watching Ikki Tousen on my downtime at work. It gets a ton of flack for being stupid, I like it though, its very much from the same family is Tenge Tengou. I am enjoying the fish out of waterness of hakafu and her English voice actress has done an excellent job. there is much intrigue and a couple decent fights, a bit of schemeing, and a whole lot of comedy. working on episode 7 of season 1 while I wait for my morning to start.

It was amusing... but I believe that a great deal of the flak came from the gratuitous fanservice...

Finished date-a-live, totally awesome. Very heartwarming. Loved what a great charcter shito was. The bonus episode was hilarious.

I tried Sword Art Online. It's a very creepy premise, but the creepiness is dulled by the anime-ness.

I dig Sword Art Online but I think it has a few problems...

- They don't spend enough time during any particular game to really show us much about it.
- There are times when the anime indulges in perversity to appeal to a certain audience. I get WHY, because these same people can be counted on to buy EVERYTHING related to the show, but it's still fucked up shit about underage girls.
- Kirito basically has a harem of girls as his social group, but it's never played for laughs, only as incentive for the girls to bitchsnipe at each other. This is probably more realistic but it's not interesting.
- His living situation with his sister/cousin is REALLY creepy.
- They cut out so much from the books that some stuff doesn't make sense, especially the Laughing Coffin stuff. Season 2 of the anime basically has to flash back to it because they didn't talk about it at all during Season 1.

It's a good show and I'm going to keep watching, but the stuff that is wrong with it is endemic to the anime industry in general right now. It was funny as hell in Highschool of the Dead because they took it to 11 and made it ridiculous, but they keep it subtle enough here that it's just distracting.

I just watched the Space Dandy season finale.

Another skillful work from Shinichiro Watanabe. This season finale took what seemed like a standalone-episode comedy series, created a true continuity that explains some of the nature of the work, then reaches the endzone for one final dash of fun.

One thing I DO like about Sword Art Online is that the male protagonist actually responds to the advances of the female lead, and they actually develop a relationship. Instead of that eyeroll-inducing role reversal crap they usually pull in anime.

Agreed to the nth degree, freakin' sick of that shit.

I just got done watching the latest Sword Art Online episode...

I kind of feel like the sexual stuff they did in this one was to make up for the fetishy tentacle stuff last season. The guy trying to rape/murder Sinon is never portrayed humorously and the entire situation is completely bleak, like it should be. I kind of wish it was portrayed more like this in Anime.

SAO has done a pretty good job of making the freaky, rapey bad guys creepy as hell in my opinion. It always feels like a violation. Too bad it's balanced by weird incesty stuff.

Just re-watched the first story arc (the first 3 episodes) of Captain Future. The dub and the soundtrack are pretty good like I remembered but the editing is just horrible. Nearly all violent scenes are cut and the original 4 episode arc is re cut into a 3 episode arc which means that 25 min of the arc is missing. This creates plot holes when a character dies for no explanation whatsoever or when the scene suddenly jump ahead. I wish they would release an uncut version of the show with subs where the dubs are missing. But the whole soundtrack is good and the characters sound natural like in many older dubs with professional actors who also dub Hollywood movies and TV shows.

so I found an old video from 2005 of me showing an online friend my "massive" anime collection. (about 20 series) I almost died of laughter, The titles now account for less than 1% of my current collection. (about 500)

New season is starting, including a remake of Fate/Stay Night, which should be great. Second season of Chaika and Gundam Build Fighters, which I am also looking forward to.

Alternate universe pokemon - where two 13 year old kids and their asshole electric rat spend I don't know how many seasons harrassing Jessie and James, attempting to steal their rare talking Meowth.
