It's not just the features, it's the overall look and the terrible voice acting (skimmed a few videos to check it out). The whole aesthetic that I love isn't there.
I'm with Nick, the graphics are a big part of the original game, and you can ignore the new system in the game, but you can't ignore the changes to the old system. They rebalanced a lot of numbers. Mostly for the better, but there are things that are completely different, like Cecil being unable to use bows, and new elemental shards being used in place of bows when Cecil can't use his sword. A lot of the boss battles feel fairly different because of the rebalancing, as well. Cainazzo and Barbarrica both feel significantly different from how they played out in the original. Even some of the non-boss monsters play differently. I had to use very different strategies for killing off the random encounters in a lot of different areas on the moon, and I knew the moon enemies very well from how long I spent leveling there as a kid.

Fair enough then. I didn't like what they did to the Parasite Eve series so I never did buy 3rd Birthday. Also I don't have a PSP so I'd have had nothing to play it on.
The DS version of Final Fantasy IV adds some features and updates some stuff.

The 3rd Birthday ... that's not a matter of it being different, so much as, it's senseless, disgusting, and the gameplay's not even that good.

This is actually stuff from the Japanese version of the FFIV on the SNES, I believe. It's actually closer to the original now, as the American version of FFIV was toned down in difficulty, with many abilities removed from the game and the boss phases ether reduced or eliminated to make the game easier for an American audience (as Square believed American players were less skilled at the time). Scarmiglion can straight up murder you thanks to Curse now, Cagnazzo's Maelstrom counter attack is actually pretty tough, and Barbarrica won't ignore Kain's jump now, making her gimmick actually difficult to deal with. Buffing is mandatory. Every boss battle feels meaningful now. But this isn't a rebalance from the Japanese version... it's a return to it.

As for the stuff on the moon... Stop and Shadow Pin are your friend. That's really all it takes.

Some of it is, some of it isn't. All the stuff in the Japanese version, to the best of my kowledge, was put back in for the GBA version. Cecil's Dark attack (that drained health), restoring the difficulty, etc. Other stuff, like the elemental shards used as Cecil's weapon in the magnetic caves, are completely new to the DS version, as are some of the changes to enemy behavior, reaction to spells, etc.

Also, I'm not saying the moon stuff is hard, just different, even from the GBA version. I'm not saying it's better or worse, but it is a different game, and it did not push my nostalgia buttons the same way the GBA remaster did.

If you're talking about Steam, we don't...the markups are almost lock and step inline with exchange rates. Some are less, some are more but overall, we're not paying any extra on Steam.

Well, except Ubisoft games, but, you know, fuck Ubisoft anyways.

I got the ultimate edition on steam a while back, but if you don't already have it, it's worth snagging.
Yeah, pretty awesome game, if you're willing to pay this price.

EDIT: Also, I don't care what anyone says, Leliana singing In Uthenera is awesome. The second-best singing scene in a Bioware game, ever.

Blood Bowl: Chaos Edition is currently on sale for $7.50. I've already tried to get everyone on this board to get the game and play with me, and I still am.

Legendary Edition is also on sale for $4.99, and the only real difference is that it is missing 3 races (Underworld, Chaos Dwarves, and Khorne Daemons) but is fully compatible with chaos edition, so while you can't play as those three races, you can still play against them vs people with chaos edition.

O_C clued me in that Banished is on sale on GOG for $7.99. Totally worth it if you like economic/planning "simcity" type sims. Very challenging.

It's Crimefest! In honor of the Payday franchise's 3rd birthday, Overkill is giving away Payday 1 until sometime tomorrow (Oct. 17th). If you miss the giveaway, don't fret... it and it's DLC will be 90% off until the end of Crimefest on the 27th.

Payday 2 and all of it's DLC (except the Hotline Miami crossover DLC) will be 75% of during Crimefest as well.

DLC I recommend:
- Gage Weapon Pack #1 (for the Grenades)
- Gage Sniper Pack (Great specialist weapons that can fire through Shields)
- Gage Mod Courier (Great mods)
- Big Bank (Fun 1 day heist, decent weapons)
- Hotline Miami (REALLY fun 2 day heist)
- Soundtrack DLC (comes with community masks, materials, and patterns)
- Christmas Soundtrack DLC (Severally funny christmas songs, sung by Hoxton himself)

Don't forget to join the Steam Group for free, community only items!

I have injustice on PC, and have played it, and still can't tell you this. Fight stick master race, yo.
I have no gaming stick, but I agree it's probably better. I have the Mortal Kombat anthology on Steam, and I can't stand playing it because keyboard controls suck.

On the other hand, I managed to beat Half-Life with no mouse, so maybe I'll figure out a way to muddle through.

This weekend, Deep Silver is having a major sale.

You can get the Saint's Row Franchise, including Saints Row 2, Saints Row The Third, and Saint's Row IV, along with ALL DLC, for $13.74, saving $86 and change.

The steam halloween sale is upon us.

http://store.steampowered.com/search/?salepage=halloween2014

Noteworthy titles, beyond the usual suspects (Left 4 Dead 2 is $5 again, for all you crazy people who were there on Halforums Gaming night who'd never played it) -

Spec ops: The Line is 5 bucks
Prison Architect is 10 bucks
Killing Floor is 5 bucks (complete pack with all DLC is 17 bucks)
The Shadowgate remake is 12 bucks (I will wait till it gets under 10, personally)
Overlord is a buck twenty four ($1.24) Good fun if you never picked it up back in the day, best with a controller though
NecroVision, quite possibly the worst video game of ALL TIME, is $4.
The Rise of the Triad remake is $3.74

And much much more.
