[TV] The What Anime Are You Watching Thread!

Shonen Jump is feeling the pinch at the moment. It still has One Piece, but it needs more than a single franchise to finance it's empire. Expect to see more revivals.

Phantom Theif Mysterious Joker: Basically imagine Phantom Thief kid, but its cartoony as all hell and he has a five year old ninja side-kick. I bring up Phantom Thief kid because I find it hilarious not just because both series came out in the same year, but also because the former has been around since the damned 80s. Also I'm surprised as all hell that Aoyama continued the series in manga form after all this time. Scratch that the last one was in 2007.

Kati just showed me this.
I only recognize probably 5 things in it, but I still found it hilarious.

(Also, I tried reeeally hard to see if it had been posted before but no luck so please don't give me a wedgie or anything)

I recognized most of it, and found it equal parts hilarious, horrifying, and annoying.

But I did guffaw out loud at Lelouch getting Geass'd by a body pillow of himself.

Blue Exorcist

How come no one notices his ears or teeth? Mephisto--who ironically also has exaggerated teeth and ears--calls attention to them in the anime, yet no one else seems to notice. Weird.

I did like the Spaceballs-esque moment of Rin reading his own manga.

That show is okay, but I fucking hate the brother. "YOU killed father Rin." Yeah, you're not at fault at all for withholding god damned knowledge of the supernatural so he wouldn't KNOW that his damn step-dad was constantly holding off the devil's influence! "Hey here's an idea, rather than letting him know he is a major player in the demon/human war, lets hide everything from him and when things logically turn sour you'll treat him like absolute shit!" Does the brother at least take some of the blame for their dad's death later on like he should? Because he should, and if not I want to punch him in the face.

Regardless I don't like how he treats Rin at all. I get that its implied that he cares about him, but like as Joyce from Dumbing of Ages said " I shouldn't have to wait for some grande gesture just to know you care about me." Blue Exorcist isn't he only series to use this annoying trope or cliche or whatever- BUT STILL!

Sword Art Online

Asuna's mom is a gold-digging bitch. What, the guy who saved your daughter's life countless times in SAO and freed her from becoming a fucking sex slave/test subject isn't good enough for you? Fuck you.

God, it's been ages since I've found a new good anime. So happy, finally found a good one. Deadman Wonderland. So completely fucked up and well written. So wild.

It also only gets a single season... of a manga that is still ongoing. Apparently it bombed in Japan, so it got cancelled. Still a good a show.

Got back to Persona 4 after an overlong break and I'm binging on episodes. The camping trip was hilarious.

Episode 15 is the one having me go nuts though. My brain went "I know that music ..." Then suddenly, Persona 3 school, Persona 3 music, Persona 3 cameos. :D Love it. I don't even care that the plot is considering divorcing the show.

Uhh... the Persona 3 stuff is actually in the game. That totally happens. In fact, it's kind of implied that the show Rise couldn't do at the bar was because of Midnight Hour problems.

The show isn't that divorced from the events of the game, short of the events of the Summer Vacation two-parter.

All I meant was that the story hadn't moved forward for a few episodes; I have no idea what happens in the game.

I had assumed the summer vacation bit was a way to show several Social Link storylines at once; I can't see how they could converge in the game like that considering how they work unless the festival was some kind of deadline for reaching their top level.

Persona 4, episode 18--ouch, my heart. I can relate to having a parent so obsessed with a lost family member that it feels like you don't matter anymore.

Ryotaro represents the Hierophant, a seeker of mysteries and one who obsesses over them. This fits him pretty well... it's his fault that his wife was out that night, so the only way he feels he can make it up to Nanako (and his wife) is to catch the guy who did it. But because of this, he's never home... which ties into Nanako' Justice Arcana, which deals with fairness and the reason his arcana became inverted: Catching the killer won't bring back his wife, but continuing to look for him ensures that Nanako effectively loses both of her parents, which is incredibly unfair to her. I'm glad they actually kept the Ryotaro and Nanako's social link stories in the anime... they really add a lot of flavor to Yu's life.

Who is your guess on who the killer is? Have you got an opinion yet? I'll admit it caught me by surprise.

I'd pegged King Moron earlier.

Obviously not possible now.

To be honest, I have no idea. I'm just really hoping it's not one of the group. If I had to pick one of them, it'd be ...

Teddy, just for all the mystery around him, and because of Margaret telling that Black Frost story. But I don't know; I feel JunEs is involved somehow.

I'll find out this morning; I'm going to eat through another chunk of episodes and should be at or near the end. I have a question--is Ika's food delivery a function in the game?

I've been binging anime lately. I watched all of attack on Titan. Which could be good if it weren't for the lulls and dragging plot. It's not Bleach level slow but it's still slow. I caught up on the manga too. I also watched Deadman Wonderland which I did like, but it was short and I don't know if and when more are coming.
