[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

Well, okay, but you could argue that Charlie isn't really the hero so much as he is an observer. This is the tail end of Willy's journey, not Charlie's. Charlie is supposed to be untarnished, so a lot of people dislike the Fizzy Lifting Drinks scene. It makes Charlie no better than the others, so why does he win? Just because he didn't sell the secrets?
Because Charlie isn't the one who wanted to steal the Fizzy Lifting Drinks, it was his grandfather (someone who cared a great deal for and respected) and because he showed remorse about it when his Grandfather was willing to walk off and sell the candy to Slugworth. Charlie was treated like crap and still decided to do the right thing, something we can't be sure the other kids would have done and we KNOW his grandfather wouldn't have done. He was literally willing to surrender something that could have taken care of his family's money problems FOREVER because he didn't feel entitled to it.

Hell even in the tone inaccurate Tim Burton adaptation Charlie's given an obstacle, only in that it's where Charlie passes on personal gain of getting the factory as it means leaving his family, whereas in the book Wonka's all "FUCK YEAH you can bring your family, BRING ON THE DRUGS!" Well he didn't SAY that but it was implied. Point is, the story just ends with Charlie getting the factory without really proving himself, he's just a pure snowflake pretty much. Which as I've said, fine for a kids book, but for a movie it would just end up falling flat.

So, this got leaked...

This looks terrible. The CGI on Beebop and Rocksteady look terrible. The plot looks terrible. Megan Fox deliberately sexing it up is terrible. All the actors look like they're giving terrible phoned-in performances. The cringe-worthy "street-ness" of the turtles is terrible.

I will probably watch it anyway, as a guilty pleasure.

The beginning almost seemed like Dimension X might be opening.

I'm sure the CGI isn't done yet, but also won't look too much better when it is.

Laughed at Mikey's mohawk line. Then again, I laughed at a couple of his lines in the first movie's trailer and that didn't help the movie.

A shot of Megan Fox tying up her shirt to expose her midriff accomplishes what, exactly?

Any movie Michael Bay produces is required to have a Megan Fox boobie/belly shot or he won't be involved.

Considering I find her acting to be kinda lackluster... I'm not that upset, at least they're clear about why she's there.

I liked the last two a lot, but this one...I don't know. I'll still see it, but the trailer's rather ho-hum. Some of those character shots feel like something out of Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. Not a good comparison to think of.

X-Men: Apocalypse
Bigger X-men fans than me might know this, has Apocalypse ever actually succeeded in anything? All your immortal villains have this problem to some degree, but are usually given some victories or explanations. Like Vandal Savage is more interested in fighting than ruling, is present in most major historical wars where he loses to the great hero of the age after which he will go off and mope, licking his wounds for around 50 years or so. Ra's Al Ghoul is patient (except when it comes to having grandkids), and prefers to stay in shadows, far away from the public eye. Apocalypse shows up on a flying chariot with his 4 horseman, and loud proclamations.

Well, he successfully conquered the entire world and became its ruthless dictator, ushering in the "Age of Apocalypse," and was only thwarted by some time traveling shenanigans that made it never happen in the first place.

All that is after the X-men though. He's been around since ancient Egypt what was he doing for the several millenia before he decided to kill Xavier (am I getting my alternate futures mixed up? I can never keep the kick-starting events straight)?

Apocalypse sucks. He's only good for his 90's cartoon self's amazingly hammy voice.

Who, by the way, was Kor in Star Trek TOS and DS9.

Ha ha ha, oh man, I had forgotten how much of 90s Xmen Animated Apocalypse's powers consisted of "whatever the hell the writers want at the moment." Shapeshifting into any number of shields, pistons, sizes, guns, complex machines, firing beams and blasts of varying power, effect and color, etc etc etc.

"Scene 4, interior. Apocalypse's hand becomes an espresso machine. He sips from a tiny cup, made even tinier by his immense size."

I remember being a kid and watching this, having never read any comic with Apocalypse in it, and constantly wondering "... what the fuck is his power?"

He doesn't have one. Little known fact: Apocalypse isn't a mutant. He was just born ugly and looking for an excuse.

If I remember correctly, he's spent millennia working behind the scenes to make changes/control outcomes that lead to a situation where he can take over (and have enough mutants to create his ideal Darwinist world). So he has only tried to take over the world recently because the timing is just now right.
