The EPIC WIN Thread 3: SON OF EPIC

I'm not sure if we have anything as formal as an HOA but there are bylaws in our subdivision concerning minimum house size, land use (no goats) etc. we had to submit our house plans for acceptance before building.

As far as yard maintenance goes, we live so far off the road, no one would ever know if we decided to grow a jungle.

Apparently when my wife called her mother, she told her dad and he said in a disappointed tone "Awwe!". Apparently he had bought two tickets.

That guy cracks me up!

I just scored a sweet deal. I found a Hobie cat in excellent shape for $500 and I talked him down to $400. If you know Hobie Cats you know finding even a crappy one at less that a couple grand is hard. This one is in excellent condition for its age. No soft spots, decent sails, good trampoline.

Shut the fuck up! That's awesome!

I don't think you're talking about a cat.

So after a three day brawl for it all dominoes match I finally defeated my 7 yr old son 104 - 97.

What's epic is that he was able to successfully cheat without me noticing for most of the match.

I'm not even mad, that's amazing!

Open Minds Quarterly has re-published my short story, The Never-Ending Battle. In this case, it's a special CLASSROOM EDITION, to be used in high schools and colleges to teach about mental health. Even crazier, my story is the first one in the magazine. Which means my work will likely been seen first before all the others.

I just received my contributing copy. This is the 8th time a short story of mine has been published (if you count the first time this story was published) and it's still surreal seeing my name in print. This is the first time I've had a PICTURE included with a bio.

[DOUBLEPOST=1467155172,1467155090][/DOUBLEPOST]And before Gas freaks out, someone actually bought this for me. He wants to use the Vive as well so he said he'd help upgrade the computer. I know, right?!?

My upgrade budget went from $1000 to $229.98. I'm not going to do the mobo or CPU at this time. Going from an i7-4770 (9.819 benchmark) to an i7-4790 (10.007) isn't enough of an upgrade to justify the cost & trouble.

That means that after EVERYTHING - bills, food, gas, Vive, furniture, etc. - we're still going to be able to put away a couple thousand dollars.

Yeah, no real reason to actually replace either until you can do both at the same time. The only reason to go 4770->4970 is if you're going to be doing aggressive overclocking to push that margin further (4970 has "enhancements" to facilitate overclocking), and you probably aren't, so there's no good reason.
Just remember that if you go with Skylake or newer (6xxx-series), Microsoft REALLY, REALLY wants to make sure you're running Win10. If you are planning on sticking with Win8.1 or older, then you'll be better off with the 5775C (which you might already be able to use on your board with a BIOS update).

Somewhere in the Phantom Zone, Zod is receiving an update telling him his Windows 10 Upgrade is ready

Had my first employee evaluation at the new job today. According to boss-man, both the team and the company at large like me and want to keep me (I'm apparently the new yardstick for measuring potential hires, which is weird).

10% raise, before I could bring up my salary, and "more to come" :D

"more to come" :D
:unibrow:[DOUBLEPOST=1467412931,1467412629][/DOUBLEPOST]Spent some time writing today. Managed to finish a meddling chapter that's been bugging me for awhile. It only took about 1,100 words to finish it. Turned out pretty well, too.

But then I felt like writing more. Except I wasn't entirely sure where to go next with my young adult novel. For the moment.

Then I thought, "Well, what's Dill up to?" I hadn't worked on his third adventure for awhile, so I thought I'd try.

2,100 words later and THAT chapter was done.

So, 3,200 words written today. Not too bad. Not too bad at all.

32 GB RAM, GTX1080, 1000W power source. My desktop is BACK, baby!

I ran the diagnostic for VR and scored 11. Out of 10. Basically it said that I can run anything anyone has put out yet and probably for a while. And it's so quiet and cool.

Love this!
