What are you playing?

Actually, the first one an alien gives you. You don't get the crafting recipe until you hit your second star system.

Just bought my second ship and I'm at a space station where this one mineral is insanely priced. Just so happens that the planet below is lousy with the stuff. So I cleared out 6 inventory slots and I'm going mining!

Couple notes about this game so far.
  1. The damned thing is already up on torrent sites! Since it's not really multiplayer you don't really have to be online.
  2. Framerates on this game SUCK! I haven't cracked 60 on high settings. I think only Terry Crews's computer could. I might try dumbing down the interface and see if that floats.
  3. This is not a really exciting game. It's like Eve if all you wanted to do is trade and mine. And guess what? That's all I did in Eve. So I like it.
  4. The interface is made for console and there's a few things about it that are driving me nuts. Like when you page through screens it automatically centers your pointer. GAHH! Hate that!
  5. So far I've only been attacked by one creature. I've been attacked by sentinels and have been killed by space pirates (the fuckers got me 3 against 1 with my starting ship!), but so far it hasn't been that dangerous.
  6. I hope I find something that makes the scanner last longer.

All in all I think I'm going to get my money's worth out of this game. I like it so far. I can see why people are bored with it, though. It's like Minecraft in space where you explore but can't really build.
I have been exploring for my first ten hours and making no money. I'm five star systems in and only just upgraded my ship. I need to polish up my trading skills for my next goal. Although you can upload your location and fauna discoveries for cash.

The first ship I bought was 600ku. The next ship I looked at was 1.6mu. Couldn't quite afford it. Of course if I'd quit buying multi-tools for 110ku I'd be fine. But I do have 23 slots right now...

Holy crap on a cracker. Go to Graphics Options. Turn off VSync. My FPS went from the 50's to about the 130-150 FPS range.

Jumpin' Jiminy!

That makes more sense. The whole game is 2 gigs, you could fit the assets for the entire game into the video RAM of any modern video card. There's no bloody reason for it to run poorly.

My brother has an Xbone and insisted I try this. He was right. This side scrolling puzzle game is amazing. The puzzles are fun but fast and the environments are beautiful. I don't have an Xbox but they are working on a PS4 port. I will definitely buy it.

16 hours into NMS and I love and hate it. There are a lot of things to like but I totally understand why some people don't like it. I think it's going to be amazing once the modding community starts getting involved.

Hello Games have said they are uncertain if they will allow mods for their game.

Not that PC modders need to be 'allowed' to do anything, but it does affect how easy it is to make mods, and thus how many mods there are.

If they don't they are stupid.

Game developers... stupid? Now that sounds impossible.

I'd like to take this moment to point out that my suspicion that they were delaying the PC release because they knew the port was shit and didn't want release day review scores to reflect that seem accurate.

Got a free copy of it to try out for a few hours and it's literally "my inventory is full" sell the stuff worth money and keep around stuff I may or may not need.

It's incredibly tedious.

I'd rate it about a 5/10, not bad per say but I don't see how I'd want to play this for more than 10 hours in its current form.

It feels like a tech demo.

There are ways to make your inventory bigger. It's something you work towards. Like right now my suit has like 24 slots and my ship has the same. What really hurts you is the fact that items and upgrades share the same space in your inventory.

You mean you downloaded the GOG DRM free version from a torrent site.

I TOTALLY DIDN'T DO THE SAME THING. PURCHASED LEGALLY!

I don't like the game. It's tedious and my own need to collect everything meant I spent 4 hours combing the planet trying to discover everything. Then I turned it off.

I found a T-Rex in No Mans Sky!!

And by T-Rex I mean a herbivore. I'd attach a screen print but I can't find them.[DOUBLEPOST=1471217146,1471216886][/DOUBLEPOST]Found them!

4.71 m tall herbivore with sharp teeth. Meanwhile a 2-foot crab creature keeps trying to eat my kneecaps off.

I put 30 hours into NMS this weekend. Only work is taking me away.

I may not play tonight...but I probably will.

So I finished the Jedi Knight main storyline and reached level 65 with my Light vs Dark Jedi Knight. Then you get a final sidequest from Kira. Okay, fine. Now it's telling me to go to the fleet and start the Ilum questline. Is that a lead-in to Shadow of Revan? Can I just do Shadow of Revan instead (since that's required for the next level of LvD)?

Oh, and I'll post updated character pics later. Major costume changes for some.

I'm still looking for the planet where everything is on a cob. I want to know why this is so bad.
Everything was on the cob down to the molecular level. If they stayed on that planet for a long period Of time, eating the local flora and fauna, eventually the local matter would be used to replace their own, and then even they would be on a cob.

You actually get the quest to begin Ilum the moment you finish your character storyline (which ends at Correlia at Level 50).

- Ilum short story leads into the Battle of Ilum and False Emperor flashpoints, which are the "end" of the original story for SWTOR. If you haven't done it yet, I recommend waiting to do it until you've completed Taral V and Maelstrom Prison as a Pub and Boarding Party and The Foundry as an Imp. You need to complete Taral V/Boarding Party, Maelstrom Prison/The Foundry, Battle of Ilum, and False Emperor as part of the DvL requirements for one of the levels, but you can do the Tactical versions if you want.

- After that is Makeb, which you can feel free to skip because the only story relevant elements are the introduction of Isotope-5 (which basically makes ALL technology better) and the new leader of the Sith Council.

- After Makeb (lvl 55+) is... Oricron, I think. Oricron is short but tough, but I recommend doing it until you get the final mission (which is to complete the Dread Masters Operation). Yes, the Operations have story too. I suggest skipping it or watching the operation on Youtube. Same with any Ops they recommend before Shadow of Revan. You can start Makeb via the console in your ship (not the map, the one with the quest marker).

- After Oricron is Shadow of Revan Prelude. Do the Prelude. You get 297 free Data crystals for doing the 4 Tactical flashpoints associated with the Prelude if you are subbed. Starting Shadow of Revan Prelude is the same as starting Makeb.

- After you complete the Prelude, you can begin Shadow of Revan from your ship.

Yeah I did Taral V, Maelstrom Prison already, they're for one of the lower DvL levels. I'm working on Valiant level right now.

So basically I need to do the Ilum missions, then Oricron, then Shadow of Revan Prelude, then Shadow of Revan? Oy.

One of the other requirements is to advance to Valor 5. That's PVP, right? How hard is it to gain Valor?

Also, I've got about 950 data crystals right now. What should I use them for?

You don't NEED to do Ilum if you don't want... but I recommend it for the story if you haven't done Battle of Ilum or False Emperor yet.

Valor 5 is REALLY easy. It's a handful of matches. Be sure to pick up the Daily and Weekly for PVP matches (You can do this IN a match, look for the terminals). You'll net a huge chunk of XP, some creds, and free PVP comms and consumables. In fact, I ALWAYS do the Weekly and Daily the second I make a new character to 10 because It's worth like 6-7 levels at that point.

Huh. Well, I have a newly minted Sith Assassin who just hit 15 sitting on the Imperial fleet...

Does it still pay off if you totally suck at PVP?

I did False Emperor with a non DvL character so I still need to do with one of the new ones to get credit for it.

It's still a BIG chunk of XP, no matter what, especially if you have an XP boost going and are wearing your XP boosting armor.

If you have THAT many data crystals, you're basically going to be wasting them spending them on anything other than Alliance Crates. Unlock the Priority Transport to Odessan skill under the Legacy Tab (Requires Legacy 5, lvl 55, and 200k credits), use it to go to Odessan, then look for the Smuggled Goods Vendor. She sells Tier 6 Influence items for companions but she also sells Legacy Bound crates of goods. They are 50 a pop, so only buy as many as you need to keep yourself a healthy bit under 1k Data Crystals (the limit) until you hit 65. Once you hit level 65, use your data crystals to buy your Outlander set pieces, making sure to see if you can afford any Exarch pieces first (they use the uncommon data crystals).

You can't DO anything with these until you hit Chapter 9 of Fallen Empire, but the rewards are decent the moment you can use them: a box with a piece of Legacy Armor (5 sets a class, 7 pieces a set) and ether a tier 5/6 Influence item for a companion, a decoration for your Stronghold/house, or a mount, and rep with whoever the crate was for (Ether Military, Science, Force-Users, or Smugglers).

The reason to raise your rep with your alliance is because getting it to 10 unlocks things that can help you do the heroics associated with your Alliance. It's also believed that it will have an effect on the story of Eternal Throne at some point.

It's true what they say, you never really stop playing Skyrim. You just take long breaks in between.

My most recent break has ended.

Yeah my Bounty Hunter has a ton of crates for KotFE from doing heroics and Section X dailies.

My Jedi Knight is at 65 now, with 950 common data crystals. So I should look for Outlander set pieces and get them? (legacy lvl 24, so no problem there)

Okay, if you are ALREADY 65, you don't need to buy the Odessan transport (though it's nice to have once you need it, well worth the price). Just go to the Supplies wing on Fleet, look for your vendor, and buy your Outlander pieces. See if you have enough to get an Exarch Piece or two first (they use the uncommon Data crystals you get from Heroics, Hard Modes). You should have enough for 5-6 pieces of Outlander.

Also, don't spread your Alliance crates amongst your characters. Focus on one at a time. They made them Legacy bound for a reason.

Okay. So Outlander gear for my Jedi Knight, then do the Ilum -> Oricron -> Shadow of Revan path, then KotFE.

For my Sith Warrior and Sith Inquisitor, I can mostly do PVP and Flashpoints and other requirement stuff as well as advance their stories (but less urgently).
Also need to level my older characters up to 50 for the aliens to unlock their races. Then in a couple weeks, unlock Cathar. (I want my DvL Trooper Vanguard to be a Cathar for reasons)
