What are you playing?

Depending on how new and awesome your computer is, and what kind of monitor you have, you might run into some problems with Skyrim. If physics are all wonky, it's because the physics calculation is tied to the game's framerate, and it goes bonkers if that framerate is above 60. Use v-sync and set your monitor to 60mhz refresh rate, or download a mod to allow you to manually cap the framerate
It is, however, worth mentioning that the upcoming Skyrim HD may have a workaround for that.

Dark Souls is pretty notorious for being buggy, even with the appropriate mods.
I'm definitely not using as a litmus test; I was just hoping it would work so we could put away the PS3 someday. I installed DSFix, and that somehow made it worse.

That's so bizarre that having it run smoother would screw it up. Thanks for the heads up.

Did you try turning off AA and Motionblur? Those are the usual causes of problems. You'd have to start it up and turn these off without DSFix first though.

Okay, my Jedi Knight has finished Ilum and Oricon (except the Operation, because fuck that) and now I'm starting Shadow of Revan prelude.

I can try, but I'm not too hopeful.

On the plus side, Skyrim runs like a dream :D. Now I need to choice out some mods. Tomorrow, probably.

On second thought, I'm not sure playing Skyrim right now is a good idea. I'm about to start a major project and I don't know how many distractions I should have dangling just a mouse click away. Even at the moment, I'm supposed to go get ready to do errands, but my brain is going "let's rim some skies."

But this Enderal thing looks pretty sweet.

Enderal IS pretty sweet. It's also balls hard, thanks to limiting how much self healing you can do. Basically, some healing potions and some healing spells raise your "Arcane Fever" and raising this too high will debuff you and eventually kill you. This means that cooked food has actual value in Enderal and you're going to be going out of your way to pick up stuff like bread and cheese.

It also switches the game back to a skill point system where skill points actually matter, like Morrowind or Oblivion. This means that going some styles (like Archery) early on can be REALLY tough until you start getting some perks going (Archery goes from useless to laughably strong the second you get the Fire Arrows perk).

EXTRA, EXTRA, READ ALL ABOUT IT: Steam offering full refunds for No Man's Sky regardless of playtime.

Posting this in other threads to make sure everyone can see this.

Modern video drivers usually have some sort of fps-limit control you can use to force a capped framerate if your application doesn't want to play nice.

They do, but in playing around with them I found they either didn't solves the problem, or introduced new problems with my multiple monitor setup. Using the mod to cap the fps in-engine was the best solution I found.

This changes the rules. A lot.

Most of the way through the missions on Rishi for Shadow of Revan. The "someone's spreading rumors that you're a crew of cannibal pirates" is funny considering the character I'm using is a benevolent, light side Jedi Knight; I imagine it'll be funny as well when I'm playing through with Sith who might very well find the idea appealing. Particularly given that Khem Vel, one of the Sith Inquisitor's companions, literally DOES eat people (Force Users especially).

Theron Shan and Lara Beniko are good NPCs, not overly annoying. Jakarro and C2-D4 are amusing.

I finished a playthrough of XCOM using the Long War mod.

I'm gonna be honest, guys, that mod is well named. It truly felt like a long, hard slog against an alien invasion that seemed, at times, to be unbeatable. At many points it stopped being fun, so I went away and played other stuff until I was in the mood for XCOM again. I also had to abuse the savescumming option, which is rather cheaty, but oh well I wouldn't have been able to beat the mod otherwise.

Still though, when everything finally falls into place and you're finally ready to make that final assault, and fight through the Temple Ship, losing troops as you do, until you finally get to punch the Uber Ethereal in the face... that felt good. That felt really good.

Far Cry Primal: I don't know what I expect out of Ubisoft anymore. If their game isn't incompetent, it's boring, and if it isn't boring, it's incompetent. This one's boring.

Yeah I remember seeing a few LP channels get review copies and trying to make it look cool, but it just looked too slow-paced to be any long term fun.

They hit the high mark with Far Cry 3. Blood Dragon only kept the lights on because it was so damn silly, but now we're three games later, same formula. I just can't care enough to do another "open" world of capturing bit by bit until it's my open world, and then the game ends. I also thought it'd be a cool setting, but that wears out in the first hour.

Think I'll just stick to Overwatch and Monster Hunter for now.

Ubisoft games are now basically a form letter. Take an idea, get maybe one interesting thought about it, and then jam it into a premade open world game with towers and collectables.

And it's a shame that FC3 had the better gameplay, because Far Cry 2 had a much better plot.

Bioshock

Decided to try finishing this. Unfortunately, the game crashed right as I was finishing the crazy guy's photo gallery....and I lost two hours of progress. The last save was all the way back at the start of that fucking mission.

I wish I could say it goes quicker once you know what to do, but it doesn't.

I need to play something else on PS3/PS4 and get another trophy so I can wipe away this Far Cry Primal stain from my signature.

Patch! New version invalidated my Rimworld save, so I had to start all over again (which is annoying because I'd JUST MANAGED to get a domesticated herd of cows going with a male and two females..).

Did so on tough/chillax again... I've already had to revert to an autosave twice >_< there was a VERY LARGE RAID which I could not have possibly have been expected to repulse, for one.

But the colony pet fennec fox was eaten by a wolf. I didn't roll back for that one because it happened right outside my front door and even sending two people with guns to help didn't save it. I made sure he was buried in a grave instead of butchered for meat and skins. RIP, Bubbles.

Also I've noticed my colonists are getting food poisoning a LOT more often now.[DOUBLEPOST=1472509591,1472509121][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, in Empyrion, I finished work on my Efficient Mobile Base, which I have christened the "Westward Ho."

While not exactly aesthetically pleasing (it's a rectangular prism with a protruding cockpit), this capital vessel will get you everything you need for a mobile base in efficient packaging. Uses less than 400w when thrusters are turned off, giving you days upon days of power without refueling. Two constructors (which can be upgraded to advanced when you have the parts), 27 grow plots, hyperdrive, tech 3 generators and fuel pods.

Minigun and rocket turrets to defend from aliens and other player factions, with underslung AP turrets (5.8mm) to keep the vicinity clear of predators.

Two docking bays, both with ramps, that can easily accommodate most fighters and hover vessels.

Heavy combat armor outer shell protects the innards during drops into hotly contested areas (tested myself, by accident).

I'm pretty sure I've reached the point in I Am Setsuna where I either grind forever or just go finish the game. Unless there is some giant plot twist where my airship explodes and I have to start all over again.

Kinda,

Kefka wins and successfully destroys the world, so the second half of the game is recovering from the apocalypse
It's not even that: It's getting the band back together so you can stop him from finishing off the last survivors for shits and giggles like he's been doing for months. You don't even know if the world CAN be saved, only that taking the fight to Kefka is better than waiting for him to get bored and waste the planet.

Rimworld tried to double-screw me by giving me another toxic fallout event, then a few days later a dry thunderstorm to set everything on fire. Ha ha, joke's on you, sadistic game narrative AI! The toxic fallout already killed off all plant life on the map so there was nowhere for the fires to spread! ... yay?

In other rimworld news, I bought a rooster and two hens, thinking I could make my own poultry industry so as not to have to hunt any more.

1 week later:

WHERE DID ALL MY CORN AND POTATOES GO. OH WE HAVE 30 chicks now? NEAT.

How are the new drugs affecting gameplay? Some of them seem completely useless, but some of them seem helpful for managing moods.

The side effects of all of them except Mala-away scared me away from them. I'm running a drug-free colony. Any time I come across drugs I trade them away, or burn them immediately in a campfire if any of my colonists happen to be recovering addicts.

I DO however like that I can buy Neutroamine and manufacture my own "real" medicine kits out of that, herbal medicine and cloth. That's good stuff.[DOUBLEPOST=1472589536,1472589027][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, food poisoning is now a near-daily occurrance, even from prepared meals.

Also I got a pack of manhunter/mad Boomalopes dropped on me O_O that was a fun time. It's a miracle I didn't lose anybody. Turrets took out all but 4 or so of them, and then a few days later of them laying in wait outside my front gates, an allied caravan came past and took out the rest (suffering 4 casualties of their own).[DOUBLEPOST=1472589709][/DOUBLEPOST]But on the plus side, a freakin' timberwolf self-tamed. Lucky for me, my most valuable colonist (does all the cooking and almost all the crafting) also has the highest animal mastery... so I'm thinking about making the wolf his personal bodyguard, given that the dude is also a freakin' pacifist and refuses to even defend himself with any sort of violence.

Is the issue that the radiation and other toxic events have just rendered the surrounding plants and animals unsuitable to eat? Does the game even go into that much detail? I thought it was kind of ridiculous that you could eat meat from irradiated animals and be just fine.

Nope, it's just constantly happening, fallout or not.

Clean meat from fallout-slain animals continues, too. Well, it says "toxic fallout," it doesn't say "radioactive fallout," sooooooo.... uh.... guessss it's.... safe to eat? -ish?

But it just applies to everything it seems. Chickens eat corn? Food poisoning. Chickens eat kibble? food poisoning. Colonist eats fine meal? Food poisoning. Colonist eats basic meal? Food poisoning.

Ironically I have yet to have a colonist get food poisoning from eating raw meat.
