[Movies] The Upcoming Movies Trailer Thread

This is my common and frequent response: Both movies look good but I won't see them because the trailers show way too much, the second one especially. And it's not the fault of the movie makers or stars or writers...it's the people who make trailers to try and draw people in. Trailers don't HAVE to be mini movies themselves, but these both do.

That's what you think. One turns out to be a post-post-modern reinterpretation of Romeo And Julia in a pre-apocalyptic setting; the other is a buddy cop flick between two lesbian cops who hate each other but are forced to work together. These trailers are deliberately misleading.

Speaking of trailers that are mini-movies:

Though, arguably, with such well known property, a mini-movie does a good job of showing how the tone of the story will be different, when the basic plot is already familiar.

I was never a big Power Ranger fan, but I didn't think this looked all that terrible. It's definitely taking the properly really seriously, maybe too seriously. And it's giving me some bad flashbacks to the Fan4stic trailers. But...I don't know. Something about it appeals to me.

That we barely got any special effects footage makes me wonder how long the movie will meander before getting to the good stuff. Just like Fan4stic.

Hoo boy, two comparisons with Fan4stic. That's not a good sign.

It sort of feels like "JJ Abbrams Presents The Power Rangers" to me, which is both good and bad in it's own ways. I do like that Teenagers With Attitude = The Breakfast Club in this, which works a bit better for why THESE kids might find the power coins (or whatever they are calling them in this) instead of another group of kids. It's very much a Dinothunder thing, with a bit of Dinocharge for the amateur archeology.

No Alpha 5 or Zordon yet. Kinda wanted to see what Bryan Cranston actually does in this movie as Zordon.

Actually, it makes me interested in seeing it. Definitely has echoes of Chronicle with tropes turned up to 11, tho.

A 2:30 teaser trailer? That's pretty long to call it a teaser. In fact, I think they should leave this as the WHOLE trailer but you know they won't. They showed just enough to get you interested but noting about the plot of the movie. It's perfect.

I think teaser because we don't see them in the suits, don't see the ... zords? Is that what the robots are called? But yeah, it is long to call it a teaser.

Yeah, the US name is Zords... originally because they were from ZORDon, but they kept it in later seasons.

it's really easy, you just do literally anything on earth other than watch movie trailers. or i guess you could watch them for movies you've already seen if you want to feel better about your life choices
I know, right? I love movie trailers, though. That's the main problem. But they piss me off lately so I guess I need to stop watching them. I probably won't, but I should.

I can only assume Steve Buscemi will be the baby's private detective, and the baby will have 2 broken marriages and an apprentice who can't balance work with her personal life.
