Funny (political, religious) pictures

Weren't the employees Trump filmed himself with praising him mostly Hispanic?

So there's still a chance... even if they'd be Trump Taco Trucks™ (written in giant golden letters).

I remember the exact year that Participation Trophies became a thing.

I think I've told this story before.

Anyway, it was 1985. In 1984, my school had a Field Day. In it, we all competed (within our grade) in various athletic contests such as running races, sports, etc. There were blue ribbons for first place, red ribbons for second, and white ribbons for third.

Apparently, kids without ribbons complained to their parents, and the parents complained to the school.

1985's field day, everybody got a blue ribbon for participating, and winners got no material recognition whatsoever (other than the participant blue ribbon).

Those of us who'd won "real" ribbons the previous year sensed something sinister had happened that our primary school minds couldn't fully articulate.

I think what bugs me the most is that I hear that shit all the time from these two older guys at work. I work in a pretty technical field. Bachelors degrees in the field are a minimum, and even in the lowest ranks masters degrees are pretty common. These two guys are both old timers that got in before those requirements were in place and neither of them have that background. I don't think they have any real idea how fucking lucky they are to have these jobs.

Fucking entitled little twats talking about how the young kids coming in with twice their credentials, who worked twice as hard to get there, are spoiled.

Hey now.... she got permanent residence legally... by marrying some guy.
Your point being?

We had participation ribbons at school field day all the way back to kindergarten in 1980.
The only participation awards I have been given were for representing my school in the regional chess championships, since it was voluntary (and they wanted to show appreciation for us). Other than that, zilch. Might be a U.S. thing.
