What the fuck are you talking about?????
Reality doesn't get affected by us rounding things to make it easier for our brains to process the data....
I apologize. I should have said that the "result" will be drowned out by a lack of precision in the input data rather than a rounding error in the presentation. There's literally
no way to know if it actually had an effect because it was predicted to be so small an effect to begin with.
And for fucks sakes, doing something about it is always better then not doing anything at all because no one wants to do enough. You have to start somewhere.
No it isn't actually. A church I attended moved away from paper cups because they were told it was better for the environment to use ceramic and to wash them... except it takes between 40 and 1000 (
or NEVER if your dishwasher isn't super-efficient) washes to break even. And if you break the cup and need to replace it before break-even, you're worse off. So doing "something" dumb can be actually
worse than doing nothing for the environment.
"Doing something" in this circumstance is basically a "hand LOTS more money to the governments of the world" (carbon taxes) "and we'll be sure to save the planet... somehow." Oh and remember, Europe/Canada/USA will be kneecapping their economies, while China will "for sure, for real" do "something" in 2030... really. *wink*wink* (they have no commitments or requirements before then)
This is also completely separate from the number of people literally deciding between paying their electricity bill, and EATING. Look for "Energy Poverty" to be the next big "thing" in the next 10-20 years.
Or sooner, depending on how far down the rabbit hole your state/province/country is.
So no, even if you believe in Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming full-on, doing nothing can be
better than doing something stupid.
