Coronavirus Thread

Nova Scotia seems like a different country....half of our sitting government has organized those kinds of events for the last......18 months.
Well the PC leader expressed sympathy, then the MLA went rogue. Literally threatened the government then blocked the highway. Then the premier didn't back down, then the public opinion flipped, then the police cleared the blockade, then the PC leaders sacrificed the MLA.

Went to Lowes today to get a replacement screw for something. The whole time I walked around in there, only three other people had masks on. Bummed me out a bit. Majority of people still wear masks to my local grocery store, so it was a bit of a shock going to another store for once and just seeing so few people masking up anymore.

We went optional just after the cold weather fuck up. I have not worn a mask for about a month, unless the business I go into asks for one. I've been fully vaxxed for over two months.

I wear a mask in the Dental clinic, but don't otherwise. I was infected in December and have been fully vaxed for a couple months now. I know that Philadelphia is set to relax most, if not all, restrictions by the end of this month--although they're restrictions are independent of the rest of PA, so I'm not 100% sure how long other restrictions will stay in place in the rest of the state.

Got the J&J vaccine over a month ago, but now I'm hearing that I may have to get a booster from one of the other vaccines because apparently J&J doesn't protect well against the Delta variant.

Yes, so very suspicious.

It's worrying to me that there are people who believe the injection's purpose is that it somehow marks you to be excluded, like it's a metaphorical vial of lamb's blood being injected into your veins, rather than that it works by boosting your ability to fight the disease.

That's how vaccines and viruses work, you unwashed gym sock*!
Thing is, though, that's not how they work. This particular unwashed gym sock doesn't believe the vaccine fortifies you against the disease, he's implying that the reason you don't get sick is because the disease sees that you've been vaccinated and so knows to skip over even infecting you in the first place. You know...suspiciously just like how Passover worked.

I'd be interested to know exactly what the unwashed gym sock's attitude is towards Jews, considering how hard he's trying to rationalize in that direction.

I read it as the non-Passover interpretation, but either way,.

That you're hearing about it, and willing ? to get it, is a good thing. SCIENCE!

All these COVID variants with Greek letter names have reminded me of a board game I played as a kid called the Omega Virus. Did any of you guys play this?

Oh man, I had this as a kid. My siblings and I got for Christmas and played it the same day. First playthrough I lost because one of the adults called me an idiot when my secret personal code was called by the game and I didn't react to it since I didn't want to make the others aware where they have to go to defeat the virus.

Also every time the game said "Room Code" it sounded like "Raum Kraut".

So the pandemic has been easing up a bit now in Taiwan. We've gone from several hundred local infections a day to the low double-digits over the last few days. This means next week we're going to attempt a partial easing of lockdown measures. This probably means the end of my working from home.

This kinda sucks, because I rather liked working pantsless. But hey, less COVID is never a bad thing.

Due to our provinces success at battling covid, our chief medical officer has become a celebrity.

So naturally, people are sneaking into places that sell photo frames and swapping out the stock photo for his.

(This is a 7-day moving average, which means it includes data up through the July 4th weekend)

Here we go again!

Everywhere 's the same. Restrictions in large parts of Europe are lifted, people are vacationing and not being careful, and numbers are rising again. Because people are stupid.
