Funny (political, religious) pictures

Here's a Canadian Catholic, apologizing to a statue. You know, instead of reflecting on why someone would cover it in red paint and (fucking hilariously) steel wool.

This is the church I go to. If she also attends, then she almost definitely has reflected upon why someone vandalized it, because we have talked about it and prayed about it at Mass. The Archbishop wrote a long letter to be read at our services this week that is about the history of Residential Schools and the Church's and the congregation's role in reconciliation. I don't know if she is apologizing to the statue in that photo, which I agree would be odd, but maybe she's just looking at the paint on an icon that is well-liked - it has polished spots where people touch it every time they pass. Maybe she is praying directly before it, as Catholics believe that we have personal relationship with Christ. Maybe, as most of have been doing recently, she is praying about Reconciliation, about the suffering of others. Maybe not, but I guess either way the glee at Catholics being upset about vandalism at their churches doesn't seem appropriate.

EDIT: To save anyone time and prevent Fox News from getting any more clicks. Dean Cain is the one firing on Marvel, because he claims its trendy to "hate America". No, Mr. Cain, criticizing something is not the same as hating it. Goes to show that he learned nothing from playing Superman.

Honestly wondering when people are going to wise up to his grift. Trump Jr put out that they are opening donations for the legal costs to sue, which much like Trumps fund for the legal costs to challenge the election, is going to go mainly one place, his own pocket. He knows he isn't going to win, it's just another way to get free money because he knows how well it worked last time.

It's far easier to fool a person than convince them they've been fooled.

Today I went to a different grocery store then my usual one, since it was more convenient on my drive. Put on my mask, got a few small things, and started to leave.

Some dope "Hey dipshit, you don't have to wear a mask anymore."

Me pulling from my deeper voice "I know, but thank god I live in the greatest country in the world."

Some dope "Huh?"

Me "Sir, here we cherish our power of making our own choices. It is my constitutional right to wear whatever want, and I chose to wear a mask."

Some dope "huh.... yeah... but...."

Me "Don't like it? Are you saying you don't like FREEDOM?"

Some dope "That isn't what..."

Me "I have no time for communists, good day, and GOD BLESS AMERICA."

As I walked to my car he just kind of stared at me for awhile probably unsure whether I was seriously patriotic or mocking him relentlessly. I was okay with that.

I'm SO GLAD I'm vaccinated and the masking bylaw here has been rescinded... And I think wearing a mask SUCKED and I didn't like it. Isn't there a space where we can say "I hate wearing this, but I accept wearing it?"

Also, when this all started, my company had mandatory masking before it was a bylaw, and with very small exceptions* I complied with masking all the time, because it is such a small ask, and it AT LEAST meets the criteria of 'better than nothing'.

I don't understand people who need to make others' masking choice their personal problem. You don't wanna wear it? Basically everything became delivery. Get it delivered. You want to wear it? You'll have trouble... uhm... blowing out birthday candles?

I literally had a customer threaten to fight me - physically fight me - when I asked him to wear a mask. Oh brother.

*like sometimes in my apartment building I'd forget it and not realize until I was in the elevator with my laundry... so I just put my laundry in while not wearing a mask.
