CEOs exist to take the blame from the stockholders, who need a human face for the failures of their investment so they can complain.Seems to me that if someone can be CEO of 3 companies, CEOs don't actually do very much.
RSS *is* awesome and ready to get back to work!
Don't forget how the company became owned by a guy known to love fascists and hate speech"nothing has changed with moderation" except the people doing the moderating had no idea what rules were still be enforced and which weren't, they were warned there'd be massive layoffs, and all management was gone. Idiot.
So many HIPAA violations going on here!
But his freedom of speech! He should be allowed to buy a social media company for the express purpose of maintaining right-wing access to broadcast their hate speech, and suffer no consequences whatsoever!Don't forget how the company became owned by a guy known to love fascists and hate speech
You know how the villain in an animated movie will do something profoundly stupid and then melodramatically turn towards the protagonist and declare, "...Oops!" with a smile and grin hinting that perhaps it wasn't really such a mistake after all?He does know that he reeks of desperation, right?
Tbh I don’t think that’s a totally dumb idea. It’s at least something that brings in revenue and doesn’t change the site if you don’t want to use it.And the newest dumb idea? According to a NYT article, Musk is floating the idea of charging users for the ability to DM celebrities (and Twitter would take a percentage).
If people could only DM certain celebrities after paying for this feature, why would they bother to pay for it all?I guess I'm assuming its a feature the celebrity would have to opt in to.
My guess would be you could pay a fee to send a message to a specific celebrity for a fee the celebrity sets. Almost like Cameo, but instead of requesting videos, just messaging them.If people could only DM certain celebrities after paying for this feature, why would they bother to pay for it all?
I deleted my twitter account months ago when news first started that Elon was trying to buy it. It was one of my few social media accounts remaining.I've held on long enough, but I think I'm going to delete my Twitter account this weekend. Before it all changes on Monday. I just don't trust Musk and this rushed rebuilding of code. It sounds like it'll be a complete nightmare.
I wanted to stick around to watch it burn, but I don't think it'll be safe or secure come Monday when all these changes go through.
Honestly, Twitter and Halforums have been my main sources of online interactions. I have Facebook and Instagram, but I barely use either these days for various reason. No interest in Tiktok.I deleted my twitter account months ago when news first started that Elon was trying to buy it. It was one of my few social media accounts remaining.
I feel a little bit like an old fogey when I tell people I'm not on social media... any of them, but goddamn do I feel a lot better about it.
Yeah, but which one has been observably worse for your mental health?Even Halforums, I don't post as often as Twitter. I often copy/pasted Twitter rants onto here. I love this place but it's not as lively by comparison.
