[TV] The What Anime Are You Watching Thread!

Last week I visited my parents in Berlin and while waiting for the train in Hamburg I went to a nearby local electronic and media store to pass some time. By pure chance I saw that they were selling complete box sets (DVD and Blu-ray) for 4,99 €. Because of limited space I only bought two sets and decided to buy more when I come back if they still have any. They still had all of the anime titles five days later.

Anyway here is my haul:

We have multiple licensor here but in this case all titles are licensed by Kazé who are now Crunchyroll. They have only japanese and german on it.
Ahh yes Sony! Honk honk! It's cool they do german dubs. Sentai filmworks occasionally use to put every language they could get on their releases. Those days are long gone.

It's a bit weird they didn't put on other european languages on it.

UZUMAKI
Release date: September 28

I just read the manga for the first time a few months ago. Genuinely unnerving stuff. I've never read a comic where I physically recoiled in shock before. Can't wait to see how they adapt this.

Second half of season 1 of MF Ghost starts up today. I half considered dropping this show when they went on mid-season hiatus because I hate that shit so many shows seem to be doing lately, where they split one "season" into two flights separated by like 6 months...

... but Initial D is my guilty pleasure comfort anime, and this one is so very much a worthy successor to it that I can't help getting sucked back in.

got talked into watching "the eminence of shadows" and finished season 1, surprisingly really enjoyable.
Eminence in Shadow is delightful schlock. The most hilarious part is I'm 90% sure the world is rewriting itself in real time to cater to his subconscious whims.

I can get behind his gimmick of playing a background character but being an OP isekai power fantasy in the same breath.

The Ranma 1/2 remake is off to a promising start. So far it's a beat-for-beat remake and update of the original, but it's consistent with the treatment that was given Urutsui Yatsura in its remake, and that bodes well.

Also Re:Zero is back in full swing and... whoof. It is still not pulling punches.

I read that the producer tweeted out there was some behind the scenes stuff, and it was either release it looking like shit, or don't release it at all. Doesn't bode well for the next two episodes (assuming they were done chronologically).

From what I understand... episode 1 looks the way it does because they spent an INORDINATE amount of time doing mocap, turning that mocap into 3D, and then turning that 3D into 2d animation. It looks amazing but it took forever and it was expensive as hell... so they got a new director (who wasn't very good but could make episodes on the cheap) and that's why it looks like shit: they didn't do the same animation process and cut every corner to stay on budget.

The Ranma 1/2 remake continues to be a good show.
MF Ghost continues to be more Initial D, which I like (but isn't for everyone).
I cancelled my crunchyroll subscription so now my consumption of mid-to-low-tier anime has dried up. Maybe I'll get hidive.
