Gas Bandit's Political Thread V: The Vampire Likes Bats

Especially considering The Times report that at least a dozen former Gitmo inmates rejoined al Qaeda to fight in Yemen.
I always found it funny how less then 10% of released Gitmo prisoners actually being with Al-Qaeda is considered proof that Gitmo is needed... just imagine is 90% of the normal prison pop was innocent of what they where arrested for.
By your logic, a criminal who doesn't return to a life of crime after jail was innocent when he was imprisoned.
Don't most criminals released go back to a life of crime?! I was simply postulating that that would also be true of terrorists. Sure you could argue that maybe it's more then 10% or something, but i doubt that a majority of Gitmo prisoners get rehabilitated, unless they found some magic way to do that and aren't sharing it with the normal prison system for some reason.

indeed.

I'm just the voice of the painful truth.
For some reason I keep reading this as "I'm the voice of the painful tooth".

I think you need to take a few more philosophy lessons if you want to be throwing around heavy words like "truth". It relies pretty heavily on things like evidence and logic, which are missing from most of the links you provide.
As opposed to the links you provide? Oh wait...
I'm not spending an hour anymore refuting your BS, man. When I did you ignored it or made up some easily transparent reason why you didn't accept it. Now I'm just going to laugh at your attempts to spread your illogical, unsupported poisonous thoughts.

mmm sweet, sweet irony.

Btw that Heritage Foundation paper is an excellent if not long (should have realized that by the presence of an abstract) read.

Yes, I used to try for reals. I know, I was hopeful that someone reading would get an idea that the stuff he was saying was either blatantly false or contained a grain of truth so small it was downright misleading. I don't know why I felt the need to do so, but I've kinda given up on that.

Now I just watch him to see what is being said on Drudge.

No more locks at page 20 GB. You guys can keep The Real World: Political Thread going and going and going and going...

For that metaphor to hold water, I would have to be invading HIS threads to "fling poo" at him. You come in here, you abandon all pretense to being an innocent. You can't go in the door that says "POO FLINGING ROOM, ENTER HERE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE POO FLINGING CONTEST" and then claim victory by refusing to fling poo.

Because you came to the poker game? Why did you drive over and eat our pretzels and drink our beer if you're not going to give us a chance to take your money in the game?

To be fair, you fling poo. I just come in every so often on this side of the glass to point and laugh. See, it may be your house, but I'm still on the side of the glass where I can go away.

No you are the monkey in the enclosure. New people come in and try to talk to the monkey but all the monkey does is fling poo. Those who know just stand outside the glass laughing at the monkey, occasionally commenting on his basically lame poo flinging technique.

This ain't funny no more...
It was nicer when both sides just posted crazy extremist news and the other side would try to refute them, usually with an obvious result except for the contendants but stirring up some interesting legitimate discussion sometimes.

"I used to post links but you just ignored them or dismissed them." Well what does everybody, including you, do to my links? Always? Forever? Going back to the beginning of time?

If you're here, you like poo flinging. Don't try to weasel out of your inability to fling poo with the rest of us... you came in GAS BANDIT'S POLITICAL THREAD.

For example.. today, I posted how many links? 15? 20? Number discussed? 1. In what manner? Makare dismissed it out of hand with no backup other than her personal assertion and subjective reasoning.

I guess that means I can take the silence on the rest as tacit agreement.

Gas, the poo is the nonsense you spout. It isn't a poo flinging contest.. it is more like random defenses from one person flinging poo.

And like Krisken I once tried to disprove your nonsense with fact and non-biased information but you would disregard and continue on your way. It isn't worth it. It is more fun just randomly calling you on stuff and watching you bluster.

You can take it however you want. That doesn't make it so. Which is something we've been trying to explain to you for so long. Just because you refuse to see something from another point of view doesn't mean that point of view isn't valid.

I find it far more sad than fun. I kinda wish we'd all just stop replying to him completely when he talks religion. Even if that makes him think he's "winning," I'm fine with that. At least I wouldn't have to watch this sad farce that I'm inexplicably drawn to. Bloody trainwrecks :(

Oh I meant politics, not religion. I think.

Hey I mentioned the Heritage Foundation article. which I have only just now finished reading. reinforced a lot of what I learned last year when I had my economics class. Mainly in what banks really do with the money in your savings accounts.

The poo is a metaphor (and a labored one at that). Dispensing with the metaphor, talking politics and providing links is what we do in here. You and Krisken are not doing that. You're just saying "Nuh-uh!" By that token, I can just say "Yeah-huh!" to you and move on to the people who are wanting to actually engage in discussion rather than... fling poo.

We talk politics. We just don't spend all our time refuting your nonsense links, for me it is the reason I stated earlier. Just because I don't post links to everything does not mean that my position is invalid. My position without links is often more well supported than your position with the nonsense links.

Now if you excuse me, I'm gonna go call Kevin Costner about a script.

The wife of the CIA bomber is proud of him. Allahu ackbar.

If you will recall back in December, Obama's pay czar announced pay limits for those evil corporations that received bailout money. Employees of bailed out companies can no longer earn a base salary of more than $500,000. Not only that .. but at least half of that salary would have to come in the form of company stock. Now let's move on to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. They have received more than $111 billion in taxpayer money to stay afloat. In fact, the Obama administration has since pledged "unlimited financial assistance" to Fannie and Freddie. Are you sitting down? OK ... then hear this. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Their two CEOs are getting paid as much as $6 million for 2009. Didn't know that, did ya? Why would you when our lamestream media has been mum on the subject. They felt extremely compelled to harp on AIG and other evil corporations for private jets, salaries and bonuses ... but when it comes to Fannie and Freddie, according to Newsbusters, ABC and CBS offered a total of three brief mentions totaling 175 words and NBC didn't say a thing about it.

More people are now identifying themselves as "conservatives." Gallup polls for 2009 show: conservatives (40%) outnumbered both moderates (36%) and liberals (21%) across the nation in 2009. We will see if the Republicans can turn this into votes. However, I am not convinced that we would be much better off with the Republicans in charge. I guess it couldn't get worse than the current trifecta of Obama, Nancy and Harry. Maybe split control? The GOP has a lot to answer for before I'm ready to trust them with the entire operation again. I can dream of a Libertarian majority, can't I? Stop laughing!

Well now it turns out that the Gitmo detainees don't want to go. A lawyer for many Gitmo detainees says that while his clients clearly want to go home, at least they are being held under Geneva Convention conditions in Gitmo. He says, "As far as our clients are concerned, it's probably preferable for them to remain at Guantánamo." So we may see lawyers of Gitmo detainees set up legal roadblocks to prevent their clients from leaving Gitmo. I guess the supposed horrific conditions must not be so horrific, eh?

Related note: It is going to cost the taxpayers $200 million a year to try KSM and four other Gitmo detainees in New York.

Obama's director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center remained on his ski vacation after being alerted of the failed terrorist attack on Christmas Day. And Dubya got shredded for years for finishing reading "the pet goat" to children.

Who knows what the final product of healthcare negotiations will look like, but as of right now healthcare plans will cost more for married couples than unmarried people living together. Here's how.

Here is what is going on behind closed doors ... the influence, the money and the unions are getting their say on final healthcare legislation.

Today I believe that we are supposed to get another unemployment report, and it probably won't be pretty. The Obama administration says it wants to create jobs, but then implements policies that do just the opposite.

Local governments are having a hard enough time as it is with their budget. But then the imperial federal government comes along and imposes even stricter smog limits that will cost billions to comply with or lead to a loss in federal highway dollars. There's a great way to create more of those elusive jobs!

Governor Rick Perry wants an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to require Congress to balance the federal budget.

A new report from France says that the government should tax Google ad revenues in order to support the arts.

Political correctness here in America manages to get a KFC commercial banned from the air in Australia? You be the judge .. is this racist?

TSA Agent: "I am god, I'm in charge."

It's unions, communists and health care all rolled into one crazy story.

Assuming that they are really being paid that much... that's horrible and disgusting but not surprising in the least from either the government or the media.
