The xbox 360 is the worst console that has ever existed (n/t)

ProTip: Nothing lasts longer than a Nintendo system, though. I've seen Gameboy's that have been dropped from third story windows and stormed on that still played fine.
This is on display at Nintendo's New York store:

"Game Boy
Damaged in Gulf War

"This Game Boy was damaged when barracks were bombed during the 1990-1991 Gulf War. It still works!"

Also, years ago, Nintendo Power featured a story about a clogged toilet that a plumber found game cartridges in. They'd survived more than a day underwater, and drain-o and other efforts to clear the clog, and still worked when cleaned off.

That said, I had to send in my Wii to be replaced. It started having graphical glitches not long after purchase. The replacement has been running fine ever since, though.

My 360 works fine, So does my Wii, PS3, Gamecube, Xbox, PS2, Dreamcast, N64, PSX, Saturn, SNES, Genesis, and NES.

And what's getting the most play time currently? the iMac. :Leyla:

hardware? yeah probably.

Games that come with it ? It's reign is undisputed.
This is the part I don't get. What makes the 360 so much "BETTERZ" in so many gamer's eyes? Halo? Gears of War? I don't get it. The 360 and the PS3 have basically the same library with a few exceptions on both sides.

I'm giving serious thought to getting an iMac the next time I get a computer, in maybe a year or two. My last job had a bunch for design work and multimedia and they were just fun to use. The only real downside is that I wouldn't be able to upgrade the parts myself (and the compatible parts list would be much smaller, anyways) and no Blu-Ray. But I don't upgrade remotely as much as I used to, and in a year or two the Blu-Ray thing may be inconsequential or addressed.

Just FYI guys, I had to replace my NES once, but I think that's because it was very old and somehow my game genie really messed it up. So I'm not sure I can count that against Nintendo or not.

However, I did have a dreamcast die on me for no good reason, and had to buy a replacement via ebay. But that doesn't change my opinion of it being the greatest console.

Nor should it Dreamcast was lighting in a bottle. Unfortunately lighting in a bottle that Sega had no idea what to do with but lightining in a bottle none the less.

How about this then ladies and gents, who has the best/ worst controller design.

N64 analog sticks are absolutely retarded after throwing bowser off platforms a few hundred times, Which is quite sad considering the rest of the system will probably outlast me.

Gamecube controllers looked so awkward until the day I picked one up and it literally melted into my hand. I swear I held onto my controller for 30 hours straight one day. Never let go of it at all.
I still find 360 controllers awkward for some reason, I'm not sure why.

Yeah, I don't get that either, granted I'm not a SUP3Rl33t player, I buy maybe one video game every month or every other month, but with few exceptions can I think of any game on the xbox I either can't get on the PS3 or that I would just never want, the ones you mentioned being some of the ones I would never want.

I think if you stuck the SNES's d-pad on the Dual Shock you'd have the single greatest controller ever made.

Oh yeah, Nintendo products, at least the old ones anyway, are built like tanks. A few years ago, I was playing Donkey Kong Country with a friend on her SNES, which was forever reason perched atop the TV, rather than near the bottom of the entertainment stand. Naturally, it fell six feet, and something was rattling around inside it, but it still played just fine.

I wonder if that Gulf War fried Gameboy is the same one that I remember reading about in Nintendo Power, once. They even sent him a new Gameboy as a thank you for being such a trooper.

Best controller, though? I've gotta say the Playstation's design that's been more or less the same since the PS1 (I think). It's comfortable, not too large like the original Xbox controllers and is just hte best, consistent design, in my opinion.

Yeah, I don't think it's as "indisputable" as it used to be. When the systems were first released, sure. But the PS3 has got some great exclusive titles now.
It used to be true that the DLC for 360 came out long before the PS3 version as well. But that's not the case anymore either. Heck, PS3 owners all beat the new Scott Pilgrim game before the 360 owners even had a chance to get a hold of it.

I agree with this. I love my Playstation controllers.
The original PS1 controller had no Analog sticks, but ever since they added it on, the only thing that's changed is the size of the second set of shoulder buttons.

Well, not to be a broken record, but I gotta stick up for the dreamcast controller here. Easy access to both D-pad and analog stick with left thumb, one of the best analog sticks in the business (even with a limited range of twisting allowed to reduce thumb torque stress), analog top triggers suitable for various degrees of control (think accelerator pedals, part of which made Tokyo Xtreme Racing a lot more fun than it should have been), expansion ports and secondary display LCDs on the memory devices. The only way it could have been better was to be wireless.

I second this. I love the dreamcast controller.

Got an xbox 360 in the living room that my roomate and I share. Been using it a few years. great for straming things from our pcs over the network on the fly, use of extra services, and the fact that about 95% of our friends all have one, makes it great to play games with them over live. no brainer for me.

In fact, I am picking up a new slim model this week for my room, as I wish to have one hooked up there as well for the same reasons.

I love streaming stuff from my Mac to my PS3. In fact I'm watching Futurama streamed from it right now. :)
Also I'm really glad they got netflix finally on the PS3. Now if they would hurry up with Hulu...

With fewer and fewer titles being exclusive I think it's hard to claim one console is better than another based on titles. 360 is generally considered the 'hardcore' console thanks to the early push of shooters and heavy online gaming community, but I don't think that's the case now that PS3 has had time to catch up and had its own share of solid games.

I loved the Dreamcast controller, but the d-pad had sharp corners that started to hurt after awhile. Personally I always like the PS controllers and the 360 controllers, myself. SNES was pretty easy to handle as well. N64 wasn't terrible, but I think it had more buttons than it needed, and one large one in the middle with others surrounding it sometimes caused me to mash the wrong one many times thanks to a slip of the finger.

I would just like to point out that Microsoft totally dropped the ball with the design of their first motherboards. The Xenon, Zephyr, Falcon and Opus motherboards were power hungry pieces of crap that would heat expand horribly and break the GBA solder connections after a certain amount of usage (this basically couldn't be stopped due to the incredibly crappy design).

The newest motherboard the Jasper (can't comment on the new Vejle from the xbox 360 S... it's too new) is incredibly reliable, uses less power and doesn't create the bullshit heat warping problems that the olders motherboards did. Everyone I know that has one is still running it with no problems (including mine).

Basically Microsoft just had a crap design in the beginning and took their sweet time fixing the problem.

No PS3 or Xbox360 here. Enjoy my Wii when I play it (typically when I have friends over to play). Have a DS that I have sent back twice because the L or R (or both) buttons quit working. All times the repair has been covered.

Apparently Sony had kind of the same thing with the initial run of the ps2. The disc tray was set in a way that if you left the system flat too long, it would being to settle on the boards beneath, causing the system to stop reading discs properly. We actually had this happen twice before we finally got Sony to send us a ps2 Slim, which has run fine since the day we got it.

Hardware is an issue. I personally have never had an RROD but I have had some issues with the dvd drive.

That said, I think that in all other areas the 360 beats the living crap out of the other systems. The better access to games is nice, but that's not what does it for me. What really sells it is the fact that the 360 did what the dreamcast was supposed to, and it has done it better than any other system to date. XBL is an exceptional gaming utility. Is it perfect? Of course not. But its pretty damned good. Then you have the HTPC capabilities. I can't remember the specifics but I know you can hook it up to a windows computer and run music etc off of it. Then you have the netflix thing.

The wii just doesn't compare, for obvious reasons. The PS3 came too late to the game. From what I can tell the online capabilities are growing, but they (and the community that uses them) are still a pale shadow compared to what microsoft has at the moment.

Of course, when it comes to just which one plays better games? That's a stupid argument....its like asking if Forest Gump or Slingblade were the better mathmeticians. Get a PC.
