The EPIC WIN Thread 3: SON OF EPIC

I'm a member of a local group/organization. Essentially it's a bunch of D&D nerds from highschool that now can't remember highschool but still loving gaming. Ever year we do fundraising for a women's shelter through hosting game nights, RPG tournaments, t-shirt sales and raffles. Gaming for good is the idea I suppose.

One of our members was out at the local grocery store today wearing his group t-shirt when a woman came up to him in tears and profusely thanking our group for supporting the shelter that helped her get life back.

Just thought I'd share.

When my parents went on their European cruise, they were been bitten by the travel bug. Now they're planning an Alaskan cruise, and they're taking my sisters and me with them. So, awesome vacation coming up in August of next year. I loved the cruise my extended family took to Mexico last year. I figure with my continuing to improve health, I should really be able to enjoy this one. Even if my allergies don't improve by then, the cruise line should be able to accommodate me without my having to worry. The food on a cruise is awesome.

I haven't been to Alaska since we lived there when I was like 5 years old. One of my sisters was born there, so this will be an extra special trip for her. Overall this should be an amazing family vacation. Possibly our last one for a while. My youngest sister is soon to be engaged, and who knows how busy her life will get after she gets married and moves away.

Which does remind me of the one thing I didn't like about the last cruise. For all the fun I was having with my family, it still made me lonely at times, to see so many happy couples around me. Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to rooming with my future brother-in-law, but I'm trying hard not to be jealous of my little sister getting married before me. Oh well, I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Awesome free vacation is still an Epic Win, and there's no sense fretting over a few lonely moments before they even happen.

Heading home after 10 days overseas. A little bittersweet but it was fun, lots of pics tovshare when we get back...and then it turns out that we have enough vacation time left for a trip to Mexico in December. Yay!

We finaly got Dr.Pepper in 1L bottles for sale at the supermarket. FINALY!!! at affordable prizes too.You usually could only get it at Kiosks at large trainstations and alway the 0.5L PET bottles which cost around 2$.

We may have extra tickets (we had 2 extra as of 2 days ago, but haven't talked w/ my friends since then), so all you need to do is get to Verizon Wireless Amphitheater here in Atlanta by about 7:30 or so.

NEW ORLEANS NEW ORLEANS NEW ORLEANS NEW ORLEANS NEW ORLEANS NEW ORLEANS!

I finally get to hear e.company live in their natural habitat. :D

The fundraiser for my nephew last night went really well. Didn't sell as many t-shirts as we expected, but some of the stuff up for the silent auction was amazing. There was a tonne of signed NHL stuff there. Autographed Wendel Clark, Dion Phaneuf, Bobby Hull, Bobby Orr ( :Leyla: ), and Kessel jerseys, an autographed Phaneuf stick, an autographed Tie Domi photo, a photo of the Maple Leaf gardens autographed by the entire team to play the last season there. Crazy stuff.
I wound up picking up an autographed photo of Patrick Roy hoisting the Stanley Cup, my buddy bought an autographed Doug Gilmore Jersey.

I also got myself a crockpot, cause that's just a good thing to have.

As well you should be. I don't even have anywhere to hang it, but one day... one day I will. Nobody had bid on it, so I put my name down for the minimum bid ($155. Damn good deal), because that not selling is a damned shame. I also really wanted the Hull jersey, but I couldn't afford it. And OF COURSE I wanted the Orr jersey, but that went for like $500. One guy bought almost everything.

I've been saving for a few months to get my mom a new TV for Christmas. She's known of my intentions for a while, and has been resisting occasionally with "I don't need a new TV," thinking her 12 year old setup was adequate. I would usually counter with how she said she didn't want a Kindle... until her aunt and cousin bought her one for her birthday. Now it's semi-glued to her hand. :)

The plan was to use what I've already saved plus this paycheck's overtime (dude quit on us, so I've got a nice chunk due me) to get a Vizio at ~$550-$600. Since I got up early this afternoon, on a whim I went to Sears to see what they had available. Not much in my price or spec range. Until...

Someone had bought a 40" Samsung D6300 Smart TV for $1200, then brought it back a few days later in favor of a 46" model. Sears had been using it as a display model for the last 3 weeks. I scooped it up for $600.

Merry Early Xmas, Mom. :D

She was much more receptive to the idea once it was already in the house and I was rattling off the specs. ;)

(Edit: The Sears guy told me it was a D6000. Nope, it was a D6300. Even better.)

I just got off the phone with my boss and sometime in the next few weeks I will be being moved to a new position with a huge pay increase!. I will be having my pay increased from $9.34 an hour to $16.50 an hour!

Damn, Hylian, that is a nice increase. Congrats man.

For me, I had my first workout yesterday with a new trainer. Not only did I manage not to have a heart attack, but nothing really hurts this morning. I'm sore all over, but nothing feels bad or wrong, it just feels like I had a good workout.

My wife is taking the boards tomorrow to become an FNP. Over the past week, if I have suggested studying, I am wrong for telling her what to do. If I suggest taking a break, I am not taking her boards seriously enough. If I offer to do things around the house for her, I am disrespecting her ability to handle things. If I express confidence in her, I'm putting too much pressure on her. If I leave her completely alone, I am ignoring her needs.

I hope she passes.
She passed.

Tonight, we party.

I found a old racing bike (80's era) in my brothers Attic. It used to belong to my Dad.I'm planning on restoring it to mint condition over the winter and once spring comes bike across Holland.

God no.But I want to do those things while I am young enough to do them.
*another win. I just got the "I Like It a Lot" award. Yey >.<

Oh man oh man. My son gave this to his substitute teacher today. This is awesome. He's never been taught script, either. He was just winging it. This is pure awesomeness.
