Whats for Dinner?

So I got a pasta machine for my birthday in july. My first attempt at making pasta noodles, however, was an utter failure. This was my second try, inspired by a gift of a small bottle of truffle oil, and holy moly what a success. So dinner for tonight was seawolf fillet with a ''mediterranean'' marinade and fresh pasta with truffle oil, tomatoes and peppers.

oh my god that looks fantastic! what does truffle oil taste like exactly?

Honestly I am sold just on the tomatoes they look so good. I'm jealous. We have crap tomatoes :(

Truffle oil is very rich and pungent. It's a bit earthy, a bit nutty. Kind of hard to describe the taste, since I can't say if this oil was made with real truffles (which is more often than not the case). Obviously, it doesn't compare to real truffles, but still a teaspoon or two made this pasta very nice.

Tonight we have a business meeting with a friend. We are going to eat Thai food nummy!

Tonight, Popeye's spicy Chicken, because we had a coupon that gives us 8 pieces of mixed for $4.99, and long-grain and wild rice.

Overcooked, overspiced stew, a slice of bread and some kind of mango pudding that stings your palate.

Goddamn I love hospital food! :puke:

Hang in there man, I know hospital food is one of the lowest forms of sustenance out there, but you'll get out after your treatment and have a chance to eat whatever you want - and it'll taste even better because of where you've just come from. Just, try not to dwell on the food you can't have while you're in there. Makes it even harder to choke down the slop they give you.

Tell me about it. Luckily they have a loophole here in the cancer ward: since chemotherapy causes a lack of appetite, they've made it available that you can bring in your own food if you want to. Heck, they even have a microwave oven and a fridge here.

Told my mom to bring me a slice of salami pizza tomorrow when she comes to see me :p

Our son turned 2 last Sat. For the dinner party we had manicotti and garlic knots.

Tonight we made sliders using the leftover garlic knots as buns. Mmmmm...

One complete barbecued chicken, eaten with nothing but my hands and a knife.

*burp*

Hey, you try an' be civilized after surviving hospital food for a goddamn week.

I'm getting a Philly Cheese Steak salad from Subway. MmmMmm.
Ms Marvel you may be lovely and often in costume and you've had my vote so I will ask you not to curse like that. Cheese Steak and Subway do not even below on the same page, 'tis cruel the horrors some places will try to pass off as the religious experience that is a real Chesse Steak.

Some people will never meet the Pope ether. They just have to settle for what they can get at their local church. It's honestly the same issue.

lol pretty much. That's like me settling for the lamington cakes at last year's Epcot Food and Wine Festival since I haven't had them in like, 6 years.

If you should make it up the coast to Delaware I would be happy to take you and hubby for or make you cheese steaks. Warning...this is a deeply religious experience that will change your life and ruin any possibility of enjoying some second-rate false Philly steak junk that anyplace else will try to pass off as something edible.

There's also two different types of Philly Cheese Steak. There's the classic Philly Cheez Steak, which is basically sliced steak'ums cooked on the grilled with onions, with molten cheez whiz poured in. That's the kiosk-style philly, and is extremely popular - every third sidewalk food cart sells them, or did the last time I was in Philly. Then there's the "germantown" version, which uses sliced top round, white american cheese or provolone, onions, and green peppers. Both are Philly Cheese Steaks (Germantown is a section of Philadelphia).

There's a local variant here (I live in the Lehigh Valley), when you order a cheesesteak you it has tomato sauce, shredded roast beef, onions, peppers, white american cheese, and pickles. It's actually pretty good.

OM NOM Jay stop posting pictures of ridiculously delicious looking food! XD /drool

Mike and I made Pad See Ew last night! Turned out pretty good but there's definitely a few things we'll tweak for next time! Neither of us cooks very much so it was fun to experiment a bit!

Obligatory ''ew'' joke here.

First chance to cook in my kitchen in a long time last night due to some kitchen/apartment/appliance issues, and it's been flippin cold here lately so I kicked things off with a nice, simple chicken soup with potatoes in place of noodles and a teaspoon of miso paste for some added flavor. Was very good soup.
