What are you playing?

I wish Killing Floor gave me more motivation to be killing these specimens. That's the only weakness I find in the game, there's no storyline to keep me hooked.
There IS a story, it's just not told in the game. It's basically about how a biotech company started experimenting on people to make living weapons, then the head researcher went off the rails and turned himself into one and let them all loose in England. Now your fighting for your life against the Patriarch and his forces. It's not much of a story but it works for the gameplay.

Yeah, but there aren't very many indications of the story in-game. Every map is the same general idea: kill waves of specimens, stock up at the trader, kill the Patriarch. Compare this to, say, Left 4 Dead, where each map has its own narrative. Fight your way through the streets until you reach the hospital, where you can be rescued. Travel through an ever-worsening storm to retrieve fuel for your boat. Stuff like that.

Killing Floor is definitely fun, but after a while I can't help asking, "Why, why am I killing these specimens?"

I'm still loving Trine 2 , in some ways it's just more of the first game, which is exactly what I wanted, but in other ways it's so much more. There are a lot more elements used in the puzzles, and I don't think I'm anywhere near finished. Plus, almost everything that was good about the first got polished to a wonderful degree. There's no more magic meter, so you can play around with the wizard's blocks as much as you need to finish a puzzle, or just play. The thief's bow isn't OP anymore. Rotating objects as the Wizard isn't broken anymore. The level design is more refined. The enemy animations are more detailed (I love how spiders explode when you kill them.) It's a great balance of action and puzzle, with a difficulty level I'm very happy with. (Playing on Normal.)

Edit: Almost forgot the best improvement. You can now stop anywhere and continue from where you left off. Previously if you quit mid-level, you'd have to start at the beginning.

If any of you guys were ever interested in minecraft, we've got the server paid up for another year, and are running some pretty useful plugins. No longer need whitelist access to look around (though you will need to be promoted out of guest rank to actually build). Got a map of the main world (and there are several others too) at http://halforums.gaming.multiplay.co.uk

I started playing Psychonauts to get the Steam holiday sale achievement, and then just kept playing. I love this game. How could I not? Raz collects figments like Mario collects coins.

I've finished Psychonauts at least 3 times already and I also fired it up for the achievement, which took about 2 minutes and ended up playing for a few hours.

This will be my third time playing through. The first time was on GameTap. Then I bought it on GOG.com so that I'd own it for good. Now I bought it on Steam because I want to get all the achievements, not just the Steam sale ones. I think it's finally time for me to give in and buy the soundtracks.

Just finished getting all the achievement in Psychonauts. That was a glorious pain in the ass. What an amazing game.

Not sure what I'm going to tackle next. Probably whatever needs an achievement earned for the Steam sale. Then on to games I've been gifted. I've got one from last Christmas I haven't finished (Puzzle Bots).

One of the sale games Sequence, got it from the developer on Neogaf. It's actually not bad. Weird Dance Dance Revolution RPG hybrid.

Got the achievement and got a coupon for a game I already have. Fuck off Valve.

Yeah, they didn't think this coupon thing through very well. Anything they are giving coupons for is or has been on sale during the Great Gift Pile, so using the coupon now only saves you a dollar or two at most. Waiting till later means you'll end up paying more than you would have done so now.

Seriously, just give us coal or games.

I FINALLY got back into seriously playing Skyward Sword. I'm on the second flame, just got that hookshot. I'm looking forward to finishing it during winter break, probably next week.

Then, I may go back into Batman AC and work on getting the rest of the side quests finished. Once that's done, if I have more time, I'm going to dive into Rage and see if it's any good. The major criticisms that I've heard are just that it's good , rather than great, and I like Id, so we'll see.

Bulletstorm, picked it up during the Christmas sale for 5 bucks and it was 5 bucks worth of fun. I kind of wish it had actually sold as a game as, despite it being a straight forward, linear shooter, the whole skill shot mechanic was a blast, trying to force you to continually kill enemies in new and different ways.

What pisses me off is the arrogance of a developer just assuming they're going to get to make a sequel and leave the campaign unfinished and unsatisfying. Bad guy gets away, all your friends are dead, REVENGE, NEXT TIME that never comes because the game sold abysmally.

Replaying Deus Ex: HR. I wish they would make an open world game using Deus Ex Lore and game mechanics.I would play the shit out of it.

So, first impressions of Rage. It's not bad, it's not good, it's just mediocre. One thing that annoys me so far is that there doesn't seem to be a damage modifier for head shots, or if there is one, it's very weak. I should not be able to shoot somone in the head with a sniper rifle and have them get back up. Especially when these are the normal human gangs, not even mutants. I find it particularly boggling that it does have limb damage detection, IE, I can kneecap a guy and knock him to the floor...

Overall, though, I liked the game better the first time when it was called Borderlands.

So, because I was an early adaptor with the 3DS, I got a bunch of nifty GBA games. One of those was Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap. I started playing last night at work because I can still play my DS on the overnight shift and HOLY CRAP!

This game is AWESOME. So far, probably my 3rd favorite in the series, second to Ocarina and Link to the Past. I'm also finding that all those nifty items in Skyward Sword that I thought were original came from this game.

I love the art style and the minish mechanic, the matching stones. It's not very often that portable games feel like full fledged titles, and Minish Cap has the scope of at least Link to the Past.

How did i miss this on the GBA?

In the past couple weeks I have finished:
Psychonauts (3rd 100% run-through)
Costume Quest
LIMBO
Super Paper Mario*

Because of the Steam sale and other stuff, in the last two weeks I have also spent time playing:
TF2
Titan Quest
Rise of Immortals
Left 4 Dead 2
Rusty Hearts
Frozen Synapse
Space Chem
Bastion
Magicka
Revenge of the Titans
And Yet It Moves
Bunch of Heroes
Puzzle Bots
The Binding of Isaac
Atom Zombie Smasher
CrimeCraft GangWars
Counter-Strike Source
Spiral Knights
Wii Fit

That my game backlog might be a little longer than this list is a little scary, but then I'm not sure I actually want to play every single game I've gotten via some indie bundle.

Next up to finish is Puzzle Bots.

*started a long time ago, finally got around to finishing now that my Wii isn't hooked up in the living room anymore.

What am I NOT playing? My Wii.

We're thinking of selling it now, but I'm having a hard time letting go of one game: Okami. This is the ideal way to play, even if Wii games look like garbage on our HD. I haven't even put it in lately out of fear of seeing that beautiful portrait turn pixelated. I have Okamiden, but I don't know if that will fill the gap left if I can't play Okami. (And for any suggesting backwards compatibility of the Wii-U, we're not buying that PoS.) We can take the Gamecube from my mom's house because no one uses it there (and they have a Wii), but I shudder to think of trying to play the PS2 Okami after using the Wiimote for the paintbrush.

Been playing Ocarina of Time since I got the Zelda 3DS for Christmas. <3 I actually never got around to playing it before, so this is a first play through for me!

They really put a lot of thought and care into the update for this. The updated graphics are great and it has good replayability with the Master Quest. Those dungeons are EVIL compared to the original ones.

If your going to get the Wii-U, you should just sell it. The Wii-U will be able to play Wii games.

I just love the fact that the controller is the same size or bigger than the console. That cracked me up.
Well it's basically a tablet... it's interesting, but it's definately more of an extra then a main controller... and if i recall right they did say you only get 1, so maybe it comes with a more regular controller too.

As it is currently designed, the system can only handle ONE of those tablets in use at a time. However, they say they are working on a way to use more than one. This is why the Wii-mote and Classic controller can still be used with it: for multi-player games.

If that's the only reason then they're idiots... having a classic controller and the controller people that own Wii's are used to is a good idea for so many more reasons...
