[Rant] Minor Rant III: For a Few Hollers More

Apple did not design their iPhone with long nails in mind.
I've heard that's a common complaint. You can kind of get around it by using conductive polish, but that might be more trouble than you want to deal with. Could probably work it into something pretty sweet, though...

Was shopping for new boots today, needed the triangle and STSP and Squidleybits brings me a pair of AT, and I'm like seriously are you trying to cripple me? Why don't women understand work boots?

Naval jelly stings like a mother-fucker when it touches your skin. It also leaves probably the WORST stains on clothes, so make sure you ain't wearing nuttin' nice when your cleanin' whateva rusty ass thing ya got. But it does work, so I guess the skin irritation is worth it.

Of course it stings like a motherfucker! It's phosphoric acid for bloody hell's sake. Wear some gloves man! :)

The rear derailleur on my bike decided to eat itself tonight. It's a complete write-off, but the bad part is that it looks like the mounting tab on the frame is bent. I suspect that may be something that, once bent, is never right again, which means a new frame.

I keep getting weather warnings on my desktop for Hurricane Sandy. What the hell does The Weather Network think this thing is going to do - hop a WestJet to visit Saskatchewan before going on to terrorize the east coast? Get it together, TWN!

That doesn't sound fun. Just too much wear and tear, or did a sprocket break at an in opportune time?
I think a sprocket failed and the assembly got pulled into the wheel. I believe it was still the original rear derailleur which means it has something like ~20,000 miles on it so I guess it isn't a total surprise. The crazy thing is that I wasn't traveling with any sort of speed. I was testing my new headlight and just puttering around the neighborhood.

After what happened in Indonesia, they're a little jumpy about possible Tsunamis, WP.
Can't say I blame them. I'd rather have a not-so-serious situation after being given the warning than to have a total disaster with no warning at all. It amazes me how many people here bitch about "false alarms" when the damage is minimal or it simply doesn't effect their area.
I think I read in the morning news (mind you I just woke up so my brain isn't firing on all pistons yet) that coastal areas in Hilo were experiencing 4 foot waves at about every 6 minutes. I don't recall seeing anything about waves here on Oahu other than they were smaller than expected. We're still under an advisory though.

The nails have to go today. The ratio of acceptable to non acceptable texts is too high. At least most of my typos/autocorrects are PG.
Hopefully you were at least due for your regularly scheduled mani anyway.

Also, [FWP]I need to get a lot of shopping done before I leave for Hallowe'en with the rest of my family, but my work schedule for the next few days is all during the time everything would be open, so I either give up all my lunch hours or get up really early.[/FWP]

There's a female friend who's been having issues with her relationship and I've been strongly getting the sense that she has been coming onto me lately. I don't want to bring it up or call her out on it in case I'm wrong (I usually am) and make an ass of myself, but at the same time, I don't have those kinds of feelings for her and I would feel horrible if I ended up giving her the wrong message and she breaks up with him thinking she'll get with me afterward.

I'm worrying too much. If she breaks up with him, she breaks up with him, I should have nothing to do with it. I guess my minor rant is: dammit, brain, stop worrying about stupid things.

Tell me about it! That shit causes arthritis over time. Just ask my fucking bones. I don't have it full fledged but I was a few steps away. It bugs me because I FUCKING love soda.
Unless you're 45 and have been drinking huge amounts of soda your whole life, come on. You weren't a few steps away from arthritis from pop.

Potentially foolish question: can one get arthritis from pop?

Joint Inflammation

Sodas also are one of the culprits associated with inflammation of arthritic joints. Marcelle Pick, co-founder of the Women to Women Clinic, lists both diet and regular soft drinks, fruit juices and all forms of natural and refined sugar as inflammation-fueling foods, particularly when consumed at night. Pick states, “It’s interesting how some women who eat (or drink) refined carbohydrates at night are also more likely to have fluid retention and morning pain, and how changing just this one habit can turn joint pain around — almost overnight.”
Soda to Relieve Arthritis

According to RaleighChiropractic.com, some people drink a six-pack of soft drinks to diminish the pain of arthritis. This does provide temporary relief since the phosphate in the soda dissolves calcium deposits in the joints; however, the site warns against this practice and cautions that regularly consuming a six-pack of soft drinks will lead to osteoporosis since the soda’s phosphate also dissolves calcium in the bones.

My hairline is a coward.

Picture is super dark because it's on my crappy phone, and my expression is really weird because... fuck, it's 1am.

Crushing disappointment.

Literally as I hit "Post Reply" in the minor victory thread to Azurephoenix the real estate agent called me back to tell me that his partner agent sold the house this morning.

I'm just...I could cry.

Maybe their financing will fall through... those wankers! Nothing is final until they're living in the house.

Still though, sorry to hear it. House hunting can be a long and arduous journey.

Especially when you have a small budget. -_- I'm just ticked off at the agent...he has wasted a day of my time, I feel.
