Honestly, the lot of you blaming this all on Trumpers are either allowing your own political bias to filter your views or have zero experience in patient care and enforcing compliance.
I can't get an intelligent person to fucking brush their teeth twice a day and you all shocked that people have a had time being shut up in their houses and make major behavioral changes like social distancing and masks for weeks/months on end without trouble? I'm not surprised at all--and I can absolutely guarantee you that it isn't just the conservative leaning people, despite being the loudest.
Remember China, and how they locked down their country? My friends who are still over there said despite the dangers being well known, they had to start checking the trunks of people's cars because people were hiding sick family members there. Social workers would come to houses that had confirmed sick family members and tape the door shut. When they would come back to check, if the tape was broken, they put more tape on and reset the counter. People were also checked for symptoms if they went out to the market to get food. If you had a fever, you were forced to go to the hospital. Some of this checking was done door to door every other day--Jun's father and uncles were doing exactly that in her hometown. Chinese are more comfortable with this level of government enforcement, but as I said, even they tried to break the rules at every turn. Americans, generally speaking, are not quite as comfortable with government telling them what to do, even if it is for their own good.
Jun and I were a mask if we go anywhere at all, and I'm not super happy when I see people without masks but I don't personally attribute this to something political. These are people being people. Welcome to healthcare.
