Funny Pictures Thread. It begins again

This being a generally accepted thing the USA - people being reliant on their schools to feed their children - is one of the biggest signs of the disfunctionality of American society. Richest country in the world, sure.
Obviously, there will be poor and hungry, always. Everywhere, except in a true real post-scarcity Star Trek fantasy world. But it shouldn't be... What, 25% of all children under 18?!
Back to school or not is a big issue in Belgium right now too - balancing the covid19 necessities with the psycho-social and emotional wellbeing of children, dealing with children in trade schools (can't distance-learn welding or stuff), there's race and language difference problems (free laptops for children without a computer at home mainly went to Muslim families because, well, they make up the largest part of the poor, and of course rogue wind idiots think this means we're somehow paying for all these people's gaming habits or something),... It's not an easy issue. As much as I, as a non-parent, may think just keeping them all at home would be best for me, I'm aware there's a lot of other stuff at play.
However, "children may be starving" isn't part of the conversation at all, because we live in the developed world.
My school district gave out free lunches all summer long to students that needed them (not just student, but any child in the household) and for the first month of summer was actually taking them to houses (I know because I was a house)

Our school district was giving out free lunches all spring if you could go pick them up, but for the fall it's only free if you have the free lunch program, otherwise it's normal school lunch prices. (And tbh if you have to go out to pick up the lunch anyways, if you aren't on the free/reduced lunch program I feel like you'd be better off buying bread and lunch meat from the grocery store, because I'm willing to bet that's all these lunches will be)

I dunno, the school lunches that were given out over summer were actual lunches, pizza, burgers, etc. (and actually they gave out breakfast (cereal and milk, apple juice, oj/lunch+choc milk/dinner+choc milk, but they gave it out at the same time so you'd have to just keep it all day, but whatevs I was impressed with the program)

MPS is, I believe, continuing their meal distributions. I'd have to look it up to see.

...yep. Regular food distro right now, with only a few schools not getting meals (mostly those that are "placement" schools).

Today's breakfast: Turkey Ham & Cheese Breakfast sandwich, with Clementine Oranges and Watermelon Craisins.
Today's lunch: Mini Calzones, Hummus plate w/Sunflower seeds, veggie options (Broccoli or baby carrots), and fruit (apple, banana, orange).

High schoolers are eating Hamburgers for lunch today.
