Games on SALE!

Green Man Gaming coming back hard with counteroffers against the Steam pre-order bonuses.

http://www.greenmangaming.com/bundles/

You get Bioshock 1, X-Com and one of the following: Civ 5, Darkness 2, Spec Ops, Mafia 2 or Bioshock 2 as well as a 15 dollar credit towards your next purchase. I think their stuff all redeems on Steam.

Normally I would definitely agree but I have the slightest amount of faith that Bioshock Infinite will be good.

They're giving a shitload of games away with it.

It doesn't matter how good it is, or how many games they give away with it, preordering sends such a horrible message and encourages such loathsome practices in the gaming industry that it cannot be countenanced in any form above a $5 reservation or so.

Steam is having a sale on indie games

If available, the metacritic scores are in parentheses:

Featured games:
IGF Games
PAX East Games
Misc

Also the Humble Bundle weekly deal has Bastion on sale

Pre-ordering has existed for just about everything ever, not just video games.

I don't care about everything ever, I care about the deleterious effect preordering has on video games. If you want to preorder your porch furniture or automobile or toothpaste, you go right ahead.

Pre-order bonuses for toothpaste are getting insane. If I pre-order from walgreens, I get the bonus mint stripe, but I can only get whitening as a costco special.

How did Steam get Baldur's Gate: enhanced edition? I thought it was going to be exclusive to some dumb little service trying to get off the ground that was owned by one of the Baldur's Gate people?

It went to Steam a little later on, I think they had said it would eventually, and it did. Not being on Steam is dumb.

I keep having to tear myself away from the indie game sale. I want FTL and Evochron Mercenary, but I already have lots of games to play, and chances are they'll go on sale again in the future, probably at even lower prices.

But we wants them... we wants them preciouses...

FTL FTW!

I know the feeling Gas. I used to pirate tons of games back in the day, but ever since Steam started doing the big sales, just the IDEA that a game will cost what it's actually worth someday is enough to keep me from downloading.

That and having a huge backlog of legitimately puchased games. "Eh, by the time I get around to it, it'll be 20 bucks."

I suppose "bunch" could be misleading. But there are still some good ones. I picked up Assassin's Creed and Batman: Arkham City for $30 each. Checked the reviews first and they are just as good as the Xbox/PS3 versions. I'll take what I can get.
