If ever there was a pregnant real-life example showing the validity of the Paradox of Tolerance, this is it. Otherwise future history books will tell of how the Court took the brave and calculated risk of legally shielding Trump at a time when that shield could have been (ab)used by Biden to derail the six months leading up to glorious Trump's eternal second term, but fortunately the doddering old fool didn't realize what they'd done and stupidly slept on the opportunity he'd been handed. As an official act as president, I now welcome DC, Puerto Rico and my backyard as new states, active immediately, each will get 2 senators and 15 representatives. I know it's probably too little too late, but with his new "god king" powers, I don't see why Biden can't pass through legislation that states convicted felons cannot hold the office of president. Yes, those who have been incarcerated can vote, but there's already rules in this country that people are allowed to vote, but still can't hold certain positions. Also, that the Supreme Court must, at all times, have a balance of judges, and there cannot be a majority of any one party in the judicial branch.

Hell, I'd probably push through several executive orders:
1) Every politician at every level must retire at 65. No exceptions. (And if I were Biden, I'd step down and let Kamala take over to set an example.)
2) Expand the Supreme Court.
3) Set specific term limits for Supreme Court.
4) Convicted felons cannot be president.

You know it's not often these days that people react to news coming out of the UK with "lucky bastards". It's usually more either a point & laugh situation - if we're lucky - or "oh no, those poor people" - if we're not.
Having said that I'd like to remind our American members that the UK election is tomorrow & it was only called on 22nd May. That's a mere 6 weeks of campaigning.

He wouldn't be my first choice for PM - and I don't think he was anyone else's either. I've maintained for a while that he wasn't selected Labour leader to win an election. Labour though the next election was already lost.
He was selected to kill off the Corbyn faction, lose the election, then hand over power to someone who could make Labour electable. No-one is voting Labour here because they want a Labour Government - they're voting Not Tory.
As for calling him might as well be a Tory, that's a bit harsh. Yes he could conceivably fit in the Tory Party, but just as Biden is bad but not as terrible as Trump, Starmer is bad but none of the people that'll be in his Cabinet will be even close to as bad as the likes of Braverman or Rees-Mogg.
I have complicated feelings about this.
Honestly given the new legal framing these make more sense IMO:
1) Donald Trump is to be executed immediately
2) all 6 conservative Supreme Court justices are to be executed immediately
3) all Republican congresspeople who voted against impeaching Trump are to be executed immediately. Also other Republican congressmen who give bad vibes.
4) the Republican Party is a terrorist organization and anyone with ties to it is forbidden from running for office effectivr immediately.
5) evangelical Christianity is a terrorist organization and all its pastors are to be executed effective immediately
6) all right wing news outlets are terrorist organizations and all its owners and public figures are to be executed effective immediately
Most of the GOP are actually cowards. They only have a spine because they're loud enough and close enough together to hear one another and become emboldened. All it would require would be the execution of a lot fewer, more specific targets to put fear in the hearts of the rest. Heck, you could probably just find a reason to "recall" Trump's Secret Service protection detail and then let Nature take its course.
