That means that you, the taxpayers, were on the hook for more than $1 trillion even BEFORE this economic bailout, this UAW bailout, and any other "rescue" the government has attempted to provide. Don't just pass this statistic by. This country has been around for 225 years now ... and in just one year we increased the cost of government by 25%. This growth is simply not sustainable.
Democrat state legislators have been trying to raise taxes in california for months but have been stymied by republican opposition. So they're re-naming some taxes "fees" because to enact a fee takes only a simple majority, whereas a tax requires a 2/3rds majority. Typical... if you can't win, change the rules, or move the goalposts.
A Congresswoman from California by the name of Anna Eshoo (ghesundheit) says she wants to restore the Fairness Doctrine and expand it to cover cable and satellite programming in addition to radio and TV. Hope you guys are boning up on your newspeak out there, because this is double plus ungood.

One of the major political parties up here in Canada wants to do this too, except they're also planning on cutting taxes in other areas to compensate. I just saw a lady on CNN say that if Obama truly wanted to be inclusive, he wouldn't have invited Warren to the party. I can't wrap my brain around that logic.
