I know this was only intended to get a rise, but there's a bit of difference between intolerance of belief and intolerance of lifestyle, especially when that particular belief stands a good chance of having a significant negative impact on your life.

Though it would obviously be better if neither was necessary, it's easier on average to reject a few paragraphs of religious scripture than it is to stop being gay.

Meh, I think the right-wingers have cornered the market on being intolerant jerks. Left wingers are just nuts. They're the guys that talk about "them" all the time and make you roll your eyes a lot. But all the intolerant jerks seems to be on the other side.

I guess the closest the left got was with some of the more radical violent black power stuff in the sixties, and some of the early seventies feminism was way over the top. And the "pc" stuff, although I think the right wing made that into a bigger thing than it ever really was.

But being intolerant jerks is like a consistent theme of the right wing. That's their job. That's their role. If you want to be an intolerant jerk, you go to church and they teach you how to do it. For a left winger, they teach you how to be nuts. You go to a commune and you smoke a lot of dope and drop acid and they teach you how to be incoherent and paranoid. Being intolerant is an occasional side effect. But it's hard to tell when a drooling pschizophrenic is being intolerant. "They're after me! They're evil! They're taking over!" Yeah, ok, buddy. No, the reverse is not true, because of the filibuster (and also because we haven't had a CONSERVATIVE senate, we have had a REPUBLICAN senate, and a number of those have been RINO). If a nominee even so much as hints that it might be conceivable to overturn Roe vs Wade, they're HOWLED out of the chambers.

Remember the "Gang of 14?" Also, you might want to cast your memory back to Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas.

I have no problem with the greivances of those who were displaced. The problem I have is this negative approach these 'leaders' keep taking. Let's believe we can accomplish something through kidnappings and bombings, right?

Consider for a moment the very large sums of money the Saudis and others give to the Palestinians each year in aid. Also, add the international/UN contributions. These people could be living quite well, if they took a more positive approach. OK, Israel came and took our land - so, do what they do, BUY it back!

I find interesting how native americans have turned things to their advantage with casinos. OK, whiteman took your land, so, let white man come to casino, lose his money then buy all the land you like. Smart!

The point here isn't how it works or not for native americans, but that there are means to resolve things to the advantage of palestinians, which they do not use. Hamas will moan how this attack is more example of how evil the state of Israel is, despite their doing everything they can to aggrevate tensions, including lobbing missiles indescriminantly into civilian areas. They want the attack so they can moan louder about what victims they are, perhaps encourage an arab nation to attack Israel (i.e. Iran)

Israelites are not animals. Jews are well educated by tradition. Palestinians KNOW this. A huge chunk of them are socialists and communists. Give them ANY EXCUSE and they will rise up against the conservative war mongers and stop the violence against Palestine. Blowing up innocent women and children? Not going to get it done. Palestine has had the tools to stop the violence for the last forty years. And they know it. If they really wanted peace they could have had it DECADES ago. They're not interested in peace. They're interested in killing jews. The minute that changes there will be peace in the middle east. Instantly.
